This is probably one of the very best matches on any championship I've ever watched! Heart stopping moments! Only few seconds till the final whistle, Macedonia has the ball and the attack, and the screw it up, Denmark performs lightening counterattack and scores (literally) in the last second and wins the match! Afterwards, the won the championship! Fuckin' Hell!
Does that mean that if they won this match (as they easily could have), they could have become champions, just as Denmark became?!
Maybe...But personally I don't think so...Even when they're at their best, something prevents them to get to the top, 3rd place at best! That happened in basketball, a few years back!
Yes, I watched them today and yesterday against Spain. They were really poor against Slovenia, but they were much better against Spain, and one could even say that the judges helped Spain to win that one. And when it comes to the match against Iceland, they made mistakes at the end again, and missed a win. But it was obvious that they were satisfied with the draw, they were exhausted with the match against Spain! We'll see what happens! But surely, it'd be great if we see them against Denmark again, in another match like the one in the video, which was truly epic!

It was truly epic match, I think that day Macedonia was better and should have won that, but however it's sport and it was regular victory for Denmark, this was one of the moments that made Denmark champions! Also Lazarov and Hansen are both great players...

Mikkel scored 11 goals for paris against montpellier, despite not playing a lot of defensive, so no contra goals, he also did not play in offense the last 10 minutes. Yet he ended topscorer. Mikkel was used for normal attacks when they needed to build up their offensive. His presence alone makes the whole team dangerous. He has now also mastered the volley pass as could be seen in the montpellier match.
Lazarov had a better tournament, Mikkel played much better in the world cup in 2011, players have ups and downs like that. What goes to show that Mikkel is the best player at the moment is that even when he has a bad day, he is still better than 95% of other proplayers.

I agree is not enough. Lazarov is 2 times best scorer in EHF CL (2006,2008), World record on WC 2009.World record on EC 2012. This year is 3rd goal scorer in EHF CL :) With his team won the Royal Cup of Spain this year, he was a player of the match!;) If some player have good shape in continuity that is Kiril Lazarov. If for EHF some players are there "pets", for me they are not!

Whether one is better than the other is almost impossible to say, as they are both the best at their respective positions.

@1987Makedonec Hansen is a legend already. His wristshot is considered unique in the handball world and he has already led the Danish team to silver and gold and world and euro. He is number 2 currently and soon number one(as pick szeged wont play more matches) in terms of goals in CL. Also the game is more than goals. If theres something Denmark wins on, its defense and Hansen is great at that. Hansen is already at Lazarov level or better and he will only improve.

Kiril Lazarov was best at the Euro 2012, no doubt. But as for the goal scoring, Kiril Lazarov shoots penalties, that adds about 3 goals to his goalscore every match. Despite this, Mikkel Hansen is still ahead of him in CL in terms of goals. Mikkel Hansen is the only player in top 5 of goalscorers who is not a penalty shooter. He also plays defense, unlike Lazarov, and he is a superior passer.
The Danish defence that Lazarov had to play against was probably the best in the tournament. Hansen team mates in attack are MUCH better than Lazarov team mates. It is easy to play in a strong team. EHF CL statistics:

Kiril isn't a bigger goal monster, he has a much lower scoring percentage on normal shots than Andersson. Difference is, Kiril shoots penalties and he is allowed to take as many chances as he wants for the Macedonian team. The most effective player in the Bundesliga in terms of goals per attempts is Anders Eggert, with 87% last year, while being 4th most scoring player.

He's not playing there anymore, but I still think you are wrong. When he was in Barcelona they barely didn't use him, he has even said himself that he got weaker because of not getting that much playtime. The whole attack in AGK is centered around Mikkel Hansen. He gets to call many shots and he also assists a lot. I think that AGK was great for him and I'm truly sorry it has to be over.

I am very interested in handball as long as I can remember. But it somehow never brought me to love the game. It's somehow dynamic and a hard sport like my favourite (ice) hockey but goals always scored the same way - passing a hundred times around this circle area, then somebody's jumping and throwing the ball. I don't like that games end like basketball with 20 plus goals. I think the big advantage of football is, that the only few goals which been scored are more meaningful and important.

Mikkel Hansen played better in 2011, but still did well. Everybody seems to focus on offense, but you also have to take defense into consideration.

Hansen was the most effective player in terms of effective assists during Olympics, even though no player was more focused than him in the tournament. Denmark's tactics are built around Hansen, there is no team without him. In my opinion you can't be considered a top 20 player worldwide, if you can't play defense. Mikkel Hansen, as I proved with statistics, is also superior in offense. If you had said Karabatic, Abalo or Gudjon Valur, it would be a more difficult discussion.
That because Kim Andersson knows when to pass and when to shoot, Kiel has already lost points in the Bundesliga since they lost him. Kim can function in a collective, Kiril can't in the same way. Not to mention Kiril was not carrying Atletico Madrid, their defensive was. In my opinion Kim is the second best right back of all time, only surpassed by Olafur Stefansson(when he was younger).
