This project has been in the making for over 12 years. I went today to see the place for myself and see if I can find someone who can answer some of my questions.

I was just was looking at the tower in the background of an African TV channel (Channels TV) which I can get on You Tube here in the UK. I found out what the tower is - I had never seen that building until now - so I found your video (I am in UK I have never been to Nigeria). Great video and you do it very responsibly too - asking people for permission - very good, no stress very cool. Abuja looks a really cool city. Enjoyed your video, thank you.

Exactly what we have here in Berlin. Ours is called "Fernsehturm" Bigwillz, its sooooooooooooo amazing ....Top of the Tower is a Five star Restaurant. Had a wonderful lunch with family there on new year eve. Honestly you ought to book 3 to 6 months ahead to enter the restaurant. But getting in there alone is not quite easy as regards long qeue ..it´s likewise expensive. ..From the top, you can view Berlin in one bit. The feelings is better experienced than heard..still have videos,.. I told you that Nigeria have got all it takes to be great.. there is absolutely nothing seen in Europe that Nigerian dosen´t have times 2. Just imagine the sort of revenue that alone generates for their economy!..

Its so unfortunate that such a massive project that started during the Obansajo administration, is still uncompleted as we speak. Capital tied down and could have been way cheaper to complete the project then. If they could not complete the project then how are we sure they will ever complete the project again. You are so right spot on! I think leaders are clueless as to what tourism is worth as an economic sector. A great source of revenue and youth employment that is being neglected by so-called leaders with no vision.
Of what purpose is this tower, really? Tourism is fine and dandy, but looking at this stand-alone tower, I doubt that the tourist potential will be realized. These kinds of structures only work as part of a broader tourist attraction that includes hotels and related infrastructure. The parking lot would make sense in a downtown setting with business patronage, not civil servants (who would probably be parking there for free). There’s nothing wrong with having “beautiful” structures, for pride (as I note in your exuberant reaction), but they must make economic sense to be sustainable. I expect to get negative reactions to this post, but be honest to yourself and ask if this place will look as it is now (or even after completion) ten years after? Can it be maintained as a government project or will it become another abandoned elephant eyesore?

The funds for the project has not been released by the government. I guess they don't see the importance of the project.
