I only had the g915 for a review on my desk and while it's a cool board the logtech gl brow switches were noticeable worse than kailh choc browns wich seems to be the switch they are based of. How logitech managed to make an existing switch worse is baffling to me. Also the use of thin keycaps wich are basically unreadable without backlight and the use of mini usb seems to be a very big oversight for a 250 dollar keyboard.
The blackwidow v3 pro seems to be overpriced as well. Razer greens are by far razers worse switches and it is beyond me why razer used abs keycaps on their highest end board, when they have awesome pbt keycaps in production already.
When Companys have such high prices, there shouldn't be any compromise in terms of featureset and build quality. Plus wireless connection on a board that doesn't move on the desk is nice but not more than a gimmick. Both are not worth it imo.

Your review is the only one I've seen that points out the G915's lack of illumination for the secondary keys (I think this is more than an oversight on others reviews). I use my keyboard at night so having those keys lit matters to me. That being said, I agree with you in that the G915 is the better value over the BWV3Pro. Thanks for a great review.

I was in between the two and went to the store for testing today. Was my first time trying mechanical switches. I wanted to like the logitech more since that's what I always had, and I like the way it looks and all the stuff he talks about in the video. Long story short, I was much more comfortable and accurate on the v3 Pro and liked the multi-media controls more on it. I should say they only had the logi brown tactile and v3 pro green to test with. I was also surprised I liked the clicky more. I did not find it harder to type with than membrane or scissor switches. The g915 felt similar to my laptop keyboard. I tried the mx keys, which also felt like my laptop. However, the mx keys mechanical was nice to use. After today, I'm between the v3 pro and mx keys mechanical. I'm just still so surprised how much I liked the v3 pro it was like it was pulling and pushing my fingers exactly to where they were supposed to be. I'd say I tested 30+ keyboards at the store today.

Which one did you end up getting? I had the option for Yellows oranges and greens since i ordered mine online (Came in pristine condition as it should) and ended up getting the greens since it was my first true Mechanical keyboard.gotta say the loudness makes my mother hate me, but i love it so much! I have to agree the media layout and buttons are far superior to those of the g keyboard and aside from battery life i found it to be my preferred option. I love the clicks and the g's keys just remind me of my old laptop's keys giving me ptsd to the atrocious accuracy i had while using those. All and all the wrist rest that comes with the black widow is SUCH A NICE TOUCH as i have issues with my wrist getting possibly bruised and scratched during long sessions.

As far as screen sampling goes, you can do it on Razer, but it's finnicky. You have to individually choose a portion of the screen for every single key. The quickest way to do it accurately I've found is to download or take a front on picture of the keyboard, stretch it to whatever aspect ratio your screen is, and use that as a backdrop. It also slows down other chroma effects when you have too many different sections mapped. Looks dam sexy though, worth all the fuss in my opinion.
Alternatively I suppose you could map broad sections of the screen to broad sections of the keyboard.

If I’m shopping for a desktop gaming keyboard, I don’t want a light frame. I want a heavy, thicc boi. We need more stable, insulated keyboards on the market. I had a old IBM mechanical keyboard for YEARS, it had a legacy PS-2 cable which is less latency compared to USB. The best keyboard for gaming or typing I ever had…fairly quiet no rattles and the switches and keys were tough as nails. It was a big heavy boi too. We need more of THAT on the market.

My biggest problem with the G915 was the very low quality switches and keycaps. I typed on that thing for about 3 weeks before the poor quality of the G915 became fully apparent. Those keycaps are micro-thin, painted and mounted to switches that will pivot and snag if you strike them slightly off angle. Such a great idea, implemented in an ultra-china-cheap way. Regarding the Razer, I had high hopes they would make a lo-pro competitor, but it looks like they ran straight in the opposite direction. Sadly I won't be buying either.
