Ford seems to have a more traditional approach nowadays; real exhaust, manual handbrake, choice of 3 or 5 doors, proper heating knobs instead of those distracting touchscreen controls from Citroen etc (and from my experience of Citroen, the screen will fail expensively after 5 years). And above all a pure driving experience that doesn't rely on electronic settings to make it work. I much prefer Ford's approach to the Continental one and your review really makes me want this Fiesta. Fantastic review as ever, thank you Thomas!

Many thanks for this review, really wanted one for the new Ford Fiesta range. Thankfully the interior has been updated & looks more modern, although I would like the touchscreen to be lower as it is too high for my liking. Good to hear that this car is fun to drive & has sporty characteristics which is the appeal of Fords to me. I hope you guys do a proper Fiesta ST 200 bhp review soon. Cheers.

A new induction kit, exhaust and a revo stage 1 remap 8 months later and this car is just stupid fun. Thus maintaining Ford's reputation of not necessarily always having the "best" cars in the hatchback class to drive, but making sure they're still the most fun.
The only disappointment was we got a different spec in the UK, so even little things like the door protectors and a middle armrest - we don't have them :(

Great review, very informative! I think the new fiesta st-line lacks the aggressive look of the old red/black edition, the interior however is in a class of its own in that price range. With some nicer rims and a slightly lower stance ( lowering springs ) this car might actually be quite nice! Hopefully there will be a lot of aftermarket parts for modding enthusiasts like myself.

I have one on order in Deep Impact Blue 1.0 125psi, looking forward to the trim and colours video Thomas. 👌 It's worth noting that here in the UK (may be same in Germany) the specific trim you're using is the ST-Line 'X', which is an ST-Line Titanium, base ST-Line is based on the Zetec I believe (8" vs 6.5" for the infotainment for example, and the centre console armrest). Differences also include cloth vs partial leather seats, red interior trim details (Red Pack), and slightly tinted rear windows.
Great Video once again, keep up the good work.

I soon will drive to the Netherlands from Switzerland. I will see how the fuel use then will be. Now, i mostly drive on roads that is judt 80km/h limit and also city traffic, so i guess it might go up a lot.

The heated windscreens on fords are fantastic, I've experienced it in the past on hired Fiestas & found it such a useful feature, Ford has been using this technology since the 80s, I like it because I hate having the heater on hot & it's fast when clearing the windscreen. I know the wires can be seen but I didn't find it distracting. Does the VW Climate windscreen work just as well? I assume it's something that's in the laminate part in the windscreen. Good to see other manufacturers are catching up with this technology now, should be a standard thing on all cars as I think it's a good safety tech as this is good for ensuring good clear visibility. Keep up the good work 😊

Thomas, I just passed my driving test. I currently have a 2009 ford fiesta 1.4 petrol. Basic car, very nice and progressive steering feel but high mileage and will need to change soon. Tried the new mk8 titanium 100hp fiesta with an instructor and the steering felt dead, very fake feel compared to mk7 however the car was more stable, agile, comfortable and safe at high speeds. Can you tell me if the steering on the mk8 fiesta ST line is any different given the sportier setup. Is the steering any meatier?? more feel?? as I prefer this good steering feel and road connection over complete comfort and being unaware of road feel etc.. Many thanks Thomas.

I'm looking to buy my first car next year and I mostly look at this category of cars. I recently went to an auto show and had the opportunity to sit inside an st-line fiesta. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the overall quality and appearance of the car, especially on the inside. CZcams videos do not do this car justice and before going there I thought of the fiesta as a boring and dull car. You have to see it up close. I also saw the new Peugeot 208, which is very beautiful and more modern although a bit pricey. The 208's GT-Line trim goes beyond 21.000 in my country. Generally, I wouldn't go beyond 20.000 euros for a supermini because after that point you could go for a well-equipped ford focus or for the new VW golf. By the way, I also saw the new golf and it is a very modern and beautiful car. Also, the ford focus is very good looking and has a sportier appearance than the fiesta. What would you guys think? Ford Fiesta ST-Line or Peugeot 208 GT-Line. Also, in case I go for a car beyond 20.000, should I go for the Ford Focus or the new VW Golf? Thank you! Also, the reviews are amazing! Keep it up!

Thanks for the video Thomas. Longtime Ford customer here from The Netherlands. Personally I don't like that color combo at all. Love the 18 inch wheels though. The Fiesta ST-LIne would have been my new car. 1.0L ecoboost 100hp 3 doors automatic but right now I am totally pissed with Ford Netherlands and Ford of Europe. As of July 27th got word officially from Ford Netherlands that they won't be offering the ST-Line with automatic transmission in The Netherlands. To my knowledge, in all other european countries they do. Also they are offering only 2 versions, 3 doors with 125hp and the 5 doors with 100 hp. Man! does their policy suck or what, talking about being customerfriendly! Here is some background information about policy in The Netherlands. They do offer automatic transmissions on Titanium and Vignale models but they will cost more due to more CO2 output. An additional tax comes into play depending on CO2 output. The Fiesta with 1.0L ecoboost and autotransmission outputs 118 gram of CO2 per km. This means the car is in Class C (CO2 output 102-150 gram) with a base tax of 2221 euro. Further, one has to subtract the lowest value from Class C which is 102 from the actual output which is 118.That makes 16 g CO2. Per gram of CO2 you pay an additional tax of 145 euro. 16x145 makes 2320 euro, add that to the base tax 2221 euro and you got an extra total of 4541 euro for driving a freaking 1.0L automatic. Ridiculous!!

That white on red looks like an unfinished thought. New bronze color is nice though, in real life, but probably only available in other trims.
Some input regarding consumption, based on my 3 years of personal experience: it really depends on how you drive. I have the 1.0 litre in 125 in a Focus from 2014, which should be significantly heavier than this new Fiesta. It has been as low as 4,2 litres per 100 km on long, multi hour drives, according to the trip computer. This is with at least one passenger and luggage on board. Average consumption always goes back to 5.4 - 5.6 though, with mixed, daily use. My car is also in ST-line guise (previously called Sport in my country) and I keep tire pressure slightly above (0.1 - 0.2 PSI) the recommended value for that extra bit of fuel economy. Freshly waxed too, twice a year, but that should not matter much.
