  • We decided that as we had two Jeeps in the mini fleet, which we had pimped with roof racks and scale accessories, and added wheel weights and tweaked shocks, that we should put them up against one another, head to head.
    As we were playing dodge-the-torrential-rain, Part One is just based around our little back garden crawler course. For Part Two we will get them out in the wild on the trails and see how they get on.
    The Dad and Lad RC team love our small scale crawlers!

    Great video, little tip too, open the shocks, get a spring from old ball point pen, cut em to approximately 1 cm each, put one in each shock, gives the shocks less bounce

    Brilliant,, helpede make my mind up on what model and scale to buy, definitely the 1/24 scale, it was definitely more controllable with the low speed ability without having to give it bursts of power and the smaller scale means it doesn't need such big obstacles to be fun and challenging.
    10/10 for video 🎉

    @sleepyrider Před 2 lety +4

    To be honest, the smaller Axial looks the better crawler and definitely seems more controllable. That's an awesome backyard course too!

      Thank you. It is a bit overgrown with weeds at the moment, need to give it a clear out! Definitely more slow control on the Axial.

    Nice course ,I like the big reddish colored rocks. Also the wood bridges are pretty cool as well.

      Cheers. We made the rope bridge from string, fishing line and a couple of broom handles! The red rocks were from some bloke's rockery and he was getting rid of them - it is our Mini Moab desert :)

    I love your rock crawler track. I have almost finished mine and like you, I have kept it as natural as I could. I haven't got any bridges or water sections yet but it is a work in progress. I also have added around 4 tons of rocks ( Moss Rock and river stone/rock and slate.)

      Ours seriously needs some TLC to remove the out-of-scale weeds and replace the barriers - got some thick wire to go across between the posts.

    Good comparison video there, If FTX had Axial speed controller it would be perfect. I have the FTX 1:18 and I think the speed controller could be improved. The Axial could just do with some smaller tyres for a better scale.

      A lot of people put those rc4wd wheels and tyres on the scx.. they look a bit more scale.. I might do the same.. £40 is pricey.. not really modded mine just cut the lip off the arches for a bit more travel..

    Your content is great, won't be long before you have thousands of subs. Keep it up! Where did you buy the ftx wheel weights ? Thanks.

    • @dadandladrc319
      @dadandladrc319  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! The wheel weights are FTX ones, but you can get CR-24/CR-18 ones too. Just slot inside the beadlocks.

    @davidkersey2414 Před 2 lety

    I have both.. well the original black chevy body mini x.. also have the ftx mini 3.. I would say although the fury looks the best.. I know that the scx and the mini 3 are the best to handle.. with the scx being far out in front.. its so controlled and smooth over obstacles.. I found the mini x a bit jerky.. needs a better motor.. don't know what the best upgrade would be.. what fits..

    do u reckon the axial is 1/21st scale?

    • @dadandladrc319
      @dadandladrc319  Před 3 lety

      I reckon it isn’t far off 1/24th, it is the giant oversized tyres that throw it out. Take them off and put it on normal tyres next to my Defender and it is about bang on.

    • @LEVARIOMIKE
      @LEVARIOMIKE Před 2 lety

      I had the same feeling about the scx 24. I felt it was more like a 1/22 ,1/20 scale crawler
