Otherwise aokiji really wouldn't have any qualms about capturing the rest of the crew, who were also completely helpless. It really highlights luffy's ability to understand people and how it makes it seem like fate is on his side.

Since Aokiji’s size is 298 cm, that means the total distance shown on screen (the distance Usopp traveled) is 357.6, so with this information I could use the formula “d = rt (distance = rate x time)” and did some basic algebra to figure out what the “r” was. It was 894. Let’s consider that’s miles per hour to make it cooler. That’d be 1438.754 km per hour. The speed of sound (traveling in air) is around 1,235 km/h. THIS DUDE WAS GOING FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF SOUND, if this was realistic he would’ve been able to generate a sonic boom. THAT’S how fast he was going. It isn’t as fast as light such as Kizaru, but it’s still INSANE even for the One Piece verse. Btw if i did any mistakes in my calculations feel free to correct my statement
Somehow i feel like aokijis fruit is weird, most of the enemy attacks should just faze him but he tanks them and then freezes the enemys on contact, he also rarely modifies his own body for frost attacks, he rather freezes things and fights with them or shoots projectiles. We also rarely see his body shatter to ice like in this video at the beginning and in this case it even felt like it takes him kinda long to regenerate, i wonder if he truly has a ice fruit or something else.
I remember when I thought Luffy was going to use gear 2 to counter Aokiji's ice powers with his body heat, but then I realized how wrong I really was when watching the Sabaody Arc. It's crazy how he's still more powerful than everyone Luffy faced now barring Big Mom, Kaido, and Kizaru.

Aokiji is somehow like Gin from Bleach. Trying to look like a bad guy, while in reality he is something like a spy that fights the bigger evil. Let's hope Oda will not make Aokiji to be really evil to join BB for real, and he is just undercover there. Most fans would like to see Aokiji destroy BB as much as he can from the inside, so Oda better leave his ego aside and make that theory come true.
