    Even in the years where things were going great, Wenger still wasn't really backed financially. Ferguson spent more on Ferdinand than Wenger spent on Lehmann, Lauren, Sol, Kolo, Cole, Ljungberg, Vieira, Gilberto and Pires! And he went invincible with these players which is an achievement nobody else could duplicate! Arsenal won 3 leagues in the 44 years before Wenger including their one and only double. Arsene Wenger came in, won them two doubles in 6 years and then went invincible! Arsenal won 6 FA Cups in a hundred years before Wenger. He won them 7 FA Cups in 22 years!!! He brought in beautiful football and a true scientific professional lifestyle to England. And he lead Arsenal through the storm of the stadium debts and the strict financial restrictions and the constant selling of his best players yet he kept them competing in the Champions League and playing some of the most beautiful football ever despite all of that. The least Arsenal could do for this icon is to call their home The Arsene Wenger Stadium as it should be.

      When is the Emirates naming rights deal lapsing? I can't wait for it to be renamed the Arsene Wenger Stadium.

      I agree. He even almost won the title again until Eduardo broke his leg. And the Ramsey injury.

    Per, Jack, Edu and Mikel have that Arsene Wenger DNA that truly represents the club and how it should develop. So happy to have them at Arsenal. I'm sure they will make us proud in years to come.

    It is instructive of Wenger's foresight that Per and Mikel were deadline-day buys after that 8-2 humiliation by United. Wenger knew that he needed leaders. They both went on to become captains. I heard Mert at some point was a discipline enforcer. Now he is the head of the academy and the talent rolling in is unbelievable. Mikel is the head coach and Arsenal appears to be convincingly and consistently punching above their weight.

    Wenger built the foundation, big Per inherited it and Arteta is reaping the fruits now. With the current setup (academy, scouting, management, funding, stability, etc) I think Arsenal is currently the top 3 team in the world now namely Real Madrid and Liverpool. I exclude Man City due to their 115 charges and Man United due to their instability.

    So far are youth system is failing, we don't seem to be producing issuers, there doesn't appear to be a development pathway...all under pers watch

    • @kimuyu
      @kimuyu Před 2 měsíci +2

      We have very good players in the youth team. It is difficult for them to break into the first team because our team is now really good. In days gone by, we would have seen the likes of Lewis-skelly playing since Saka would have already left for Barca or City.
