- During quarantine, we may have gotten slightly addicted to binge watching some Netflix. One show we came across that we ended up falling in love with was Schitt's Creek. Little did we know this is a Canadian Sitcom and it was actually filmed on location in Ontario! So lucky for us, we ventured out one Saturday morning to jump into Schitt's Creek!

Walking a car full of Schitt’s creek fans pull up in a car and roll down the window because they are literally seeing Alexis roaming Schitt’s creek ! How cool is that !
that's a really cool story! It's really cool that most of cast is in the Goodwood area. Too bad we didn't see Roland walking around! that's a cool guy to have a drink with.

Lol ..... I live in "Schitt's Creek". The weekend after the Emmys was absolutely crazy up here with fans wanting to relive the magic & celebrate the show's historic wins. It was actually really fun having them film the show here, even with all the times the roads were shut down for filming. Katherine O'Hara should have received an extra Emmy though .... They filmed during some of the hottest, most humid summer days, and there she was, in head to toe black, with her awesome wigs and platform heels, barely breaking a sweat. An absolute Queen! Just hoping they decide to move forward with a movie!
That must have been a cool experience to live through that. OMG i can only imagine what Katherine O'Hara had to live though. Our summers here can get H.O.T!!!!
Although it must be cool to live in the town, it must have been crazy when all the tourists came. Hopefully they didn't disturb the peace too much!

The residence of the town love the quiet life. I'm not too sure if they want it to become a huge tourist attraction. Also, if the town becomes a tourist attraction, it might lose its charm!

oh man! under a week? haha i think we binged in pretty quick too but definitely not that short. i think it took us about 3 weeks to get through the series.
It's so quirky and different. we really enjoyed the episode. The moment we saw those fences, we knew it had to be Ontario. However, we did not expect it to be right on our door step!

When you first said the motel was just up the road I was smirking, knowing it was quite a drive away. I have a habit of checking out the locations of shows on Google maps and it took me a while to find the motel, I was surprised it was so far away but I guess it just shows how clever the producers and directors are to be able to weave all these different locations into a seamless story.
Hahahaha. oh yes. we were definitely wrong. We drove up to Goodwood and there were a few roads that reminded us of the show.
welp, colour us surprised to find that the motel was ONE HOUR away!
You're exactly right. the film crew did an amazing job weaving all these locations together.

The motel they were looking to buy in the last season(the red and white one) is in my town,Brantford, Ontario. It's cool to see it in the show.
If you like Schitt's Creek you should try another great Canadian sitcom, Kim's Convenience. It is a love letter to multicultural Toronto set in a Korean Canadian Convenience store. Netflix or CBC Gem.

Right, we were so shocked when we realized it was filmed near us. It was actually the street signs that gave it away in the show....we saw a speed limit sign and both of us were like "wait....this looks like it was filmed in Ontario". Pretty crazy.

That is so awesome!! A few weeks ago I was hiking at Rattlesnake Point (Milton) and I overheard a man telling his family that the proposal was filmed there. So that was an accidental show visit! This town isn't thaaat far from me, I'd love to visit it some day when things are normal.

Hey Jennifer, No problem! when we found out that the town was SO CLOSE to us, we just HAD to go visit.
It's as charming as they showed it on the show! everything is basically the same except for the names of the stores. Definitely something you should check out if you have the time!

Hey, not a problem! have fun! we suggest flipping the destination around and visit the motel first. since it's in the middle of no where, there's no refreshments. so hit that up first and then visit the other location. you can stop by the bakery for a treat after you enjoy the town!

I've seen so many GIFs for that show but haven't watched it. Reminds me of when we went to Wilmington NC to see all the One Tree Hill locations. It's always a good time to feel like you're in the show. haha.
this one is especially surreal because all the major locations where in 1 intersection. you should give the show a try. it's a little bit slow to start but picks up after a few episodes.

Oh it takes a bit of patience to get through the first 2-3 episodes. but it picks up really dramatically after that! give it a try!
we had a great time driving through the little town. the intersection that these 3 building where at is really cool. they're exactly the same as in the show!

I’m not sure what it says about me, or the show, that this seems to me to be one of the most sacred cluster of places I could have a pilgrimage to.
Can someone please buy this building and make it into actual hotel?!?! Put a bar and restaurant there so people don't have to drive while there. But then offer a tour of the other set neighborhood on a booze bus cruise.

Just to clarify, the interior motel scenes were filmed at Pinewood Toronto and Dufferin Gate studios in Toronto. The motel interior didn't take part in the series! But most scenes were in locations in the towns you mention.
Yup! thanks for mentioning that again. It's kinda crazy how they put these scenes together. I'd thought it would just have been easier to just build a set... but what do i know!
Not sure if you know that the winery that Moira made the commercial for is Applewood Farm & Winery on McCowan Rd north of Stouffville Rd and the clothing store that David worked in is on Main St. Unionville. Very cool to see it on tv.
we knew about the clothing store and the clinic, but we didn't know that the winery was this close too! perhaps we need to go see it! thanks for the tip!
