The Friends box confused me, because they had a HUGE 2, maybe 3, round collab with Revolution and they came out with so many themed and properly Friends named items this past year! All the lipsticks were like "Ross" "Rachel", each friend had a lipstick! How they didn't have those included instead of the candy cane and gingerbread stuff is beyond me!
I get what she is saying about missed naming opportunities but I also understand the candy cane pics etc as it IS a Christmas box as well after allđ€·đŒââïž I mean, it is a crossover not a take over, there SHOULD be Christmas themed AND Friends themed items in equal measure.
I'm beginning to wonder if they've made so many other products in the extensive main collabs (are we up to Round 4 yet!?) that they ran out of references for the Advent Calendar. đ đ€
literally! I have some of those makeup products because I am a huge friends fan so I expected to see all of those products. I have some lipglosses and even have the Monica and Phoebe palettes!
I bout the Ichiban: Lipstick for Men lip balm because that commercial Joey did was so freaking hysterical. The packaging is actually REALLY nice and the lip balm is actually a light blue and is tinted!
Itâs confusing and feels very cheap and icky that they literally have eyeshadow palettes & lipsticks to every character with proper names etc. and they have the audacity to slap these general candycane names and lipsticks without even a name sticker here?
That Friends mirror is doubly cool because the frame around the peephole was originally a mirror that got broken during set design, so they just decided to slap the frame up on the door.
For the friends advent calendar: the chick and the duck is reference for joey and chandlerâs pets. The âready to party CHECKâ is a reference to ross and monica when they do a checklist in their head they say âCHECK!â At the end. đ
I am wondering if "when your favourite tune comes on" is a reference to the Lions sleeps tonight and Marcel?
Ready to party could also be a reference to when Ross and Chandler's friend was supposed to visit and they were really excited.. I think it was called tow they're going to party

It's nice to watch a creator from the same gen. The "vintage Y2K" thing has been throwing me for a loop, too. I was shopping the other day and saw these "vintage" Britney Spears and Nsync shirts and I was thinking, '10 years ago isn't vintage!!!' but then the reality of time and space reminded me that it was actually 20 years ago đ
At the end of advent season, I propose a "how many whole makeup looks can Alexandria make" video. And I do enjoy the idea that's been going around of you putting together one good advent calendar, from products you received or other products.

I LOVE that you did not refilm the first advent calendar. One of the reasons I love your channel is that you do not try to hide the fact that you aren't perfect. It makes me not feel so stupid when I do things that are "incompetent" which is far more often than I would like lately! lol I liked the 2nd calendar the best. I think it definitely gave you the largest number of usable products for the money. Thanks for all of your effort on these calendars, can't wait to see the next one!
Hi! I work in licensing and I work closely with WB to license their products, including Friends. I can tell you that WB is extremely picky and chances are when they submitted concepts to WB, they were asked to use generic names. I canât explain why, just that it doesnât surprise me given that Iâve worked on projects that have gone completely another direction because WB asked us to change it.
This video has my favorite Alexandria things: Editing commentary ragging on filming Alexandria, and smelling products that shouldn't be smelled :)

I would have loved to have seen more friends references in a friend's themed calendar. I feel like they certainly did miss some opportunities there.
Also chandler and Joey had a pet duck and chicken. I think for the things that had the ducks, they should have also put the chicken in it.

I expected there to be like their Rachel, Monica, Phoebe pallets and lipglosses as well as their "we were on a break" palette. all of the shade names are references in those palettes. Kinda disappointed
The one with ducks without chicken references the episode where Joey and Chandler forgot Ben on the bus and when they arrived at the police station they were presented with two babies, one wearing ducks onesies and the other clowns.
This video isn't a mess, its chaos and I am loving it honestly. The voiceover was perfection.

The chocolate in the Advent calendars I used to get as a kid were waxy and terrible, so I don't think you are missing anything unless they really stepped up their game.
YES! Nobody understands what I mean what I say that those chocolates left a waxy coating on the roof of your mouth. They didnât melt, they justâŠ..disintegrated. Cheap chocolate is always waxy to me. Same with the cheap Easter chocolate bunnies.
Can get lots of different ones now. My kids have kinder calenders. Good sized min kinder bars

I think the only GREAT advent calendar, and the only one I was so excited about after watching you that I went and bought myself was the Glossy Box. I already know I will buy it again next year. The value of it was amazing.

I was laughing so much! The Second was cool, since they were all full size. Chandler and Joey had the chick and the duck. I think the company only bought so many phrases and words from the show and they save them for the purchase products. I have bought a LOT of the Revolution Friends makeup and they always have references to the shows and names on it.
Whenever I see you release an Advent Calendar I always make myself hot cocoa, sit back and enjoy the unboxing.đ âș

I loved this one. What I love most is how perfectly imperfect the unboxing was. I am a social worker and today was the last day at work before we close for the holidays. I made so many mistakes this week and this reminded me to be kinder to myself when I do.

I have the gold/copper liquid eyeshadow and it is so pretty! They are good for their prices. Their pressed powder eyeshadow is more hit or miss.

I heard Makeup Revolution has some good dupes, but I agree that the first calandar seems to be geared more towards teens.
I like the second one though.

The stand-alone Friends makeup that they sold separately or as bundles had more branding. Iâm guessing they used up all their ideas on those and dumped the rest into the calendar. The packaging in the calendar looks a lot like the standalone stuff.

I remember when I had a lighter in my makeup bag because all eyeliners were super hard and dry like that and you had to warm them up a bit.
I love the fact you allow your natural hiccups in life such as the first colander and donât beat yourself up too much as we all do those for me itâs daily lol
I donât buy advent calendars, but I find myself watching these videos all the way through lol.
Side note: my best friend ends up with so many products she doesnât want/need (or just wonât get around to using because she gets so much by the time sheâs opened everything) from these by the end of December and we package them in little makeup bags and donate them to womenâs shelters and homeless shelters. Just a little idea if you find yourself in the same position as her (piles of stuff that wonât be used đ€ŠđŒââïž) and donât know what to do with it all!

This makes sense. Advent calendars were popularized in the UK and I heart revolution is a UK company. Chances are you didn't see all of them because in the US we don't get all their stuff in store or online. You have to order directly from their site to see everything. Also: this is like their 6th friends collection

completely unrelated but there will be a meteor shower on December 21-22! if you live in the northern hemisphere, you'll most likely see it (if it isn't cloudy and/or you live in a dark-ish area)
Whenever I get wonky brushes I use them for applying face masks or moisturizers from little crocks so avoid getting gunk under my nails.
If theyâre really awful quality, I give them to my kid for painting.
My thought on the Friends calendar is this; maybe it was a cash grab- they might of had to chose a âlevelâ for the licensing, and chose the cheapest one so that meant they could only have a certain percentage of actual Friends theme merch inside? Nothing else but cheapness makes sense! Because like you said, it wouldnât have taken much at all to add a few quotes, or use pictures on the boxes. I bet if theyâd of wanted to use actual likenesses of the character the cost for perpetuity would have gone up exponentially. They likely wanted to cash in on the Friends fan base for the least amount of cost as possible.
But I want to point out to any advent calendar manufacturers out there watching (and you should be, you could learn so much both from Alexandria and the commentary) note the delighted surprise on her face as she discovered the cute mirror. THATâS what an advent calendar is meant to do⊠be filled with things that truly delight your customers, things that are unique to the calendar. NOT things that prove you donât care enough to make the experience fun- and that youâre just cashing in on the popularity of the idea of an advent calendar without much thought at all to making it special.
Although itâs wonderful watching Alexandrias special charm, and sense of humor, as she is constantly let down again and again (in soooooooo many ways!) it would also be fun to see companies begin to respond and make changes as well!

My daughter has an Exit puzzle calander. It's been fun lol. Also we have a few from the body shop just for fun. So far no real disappointments. Just puzzle frustration sometimes. Lol

The exit calander has been a blast. New fun puzzle everyday. Some harder than others, but still pretty fun and a pretty good story.
I use the long flat brushes for face masks.

Iâm not sure but I think that I heart revolution is their collection for tweens based on the products I saw from them. This would explain the color choices and the Claireâs looking packaging.
Having asked you last year and this year to try I đ€ Revolution because they're make-up heavy - yay! They have whole ranges of Friends and chocolate stuff, not just the advent calendars. Duck and chick lived with Joey and Chandler for a while. Favourite calendar so far is the Rituals one.

These calendars are only this expensive when they're full price because they discount it so fast that you can barely see it being sold for the original price. They're priced to be discounted. Sometimes down to 10-15ÂŁ

After you have completed the whole gaggle of calendars, you should group the different items by type to see which items are most common in these kinds of boxes. Like an insane number of mascaras or black liners compared to only a couple non-red lipsticks.
You know the color part on the tubes is a tester. You pop the clear part off to get the color to swatch without using the product itself. đ
