- In this episode: I introduce you to the mechanics of the game, and we do some sightseeing in Odaiba and the Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo.
Welcome to Tokyo Bus Guide (Sometimes called Tokyo Bus Annai)! The Dreamcast is an amazing console because, despite its short lifespan, its library of games are incredibly diverse! This is a perfect example of that. Tokyo Bus Guide is a bus simulator. But unlike the simulators that have inundated Steam recently, this is a thoughtful and well-executed simulator... and it's definitely NOT for everyone.
Join me as I play through this game with pop-up style commentary. Truth be told, this game requires intense concentration, so voiceover commentary would be difficult. But I think this pop-up style actually fits quite well.
All my videos are captured on actual game hardware with actual game media (no ROMs or ISOs). I try to obtain the absolute highest quality that these consoles can natively output.
Some images used in this video were obtained from Wikipedia. - Hry
Love these Japanese transportation simulators of the mid 90s - late 2000s (Densha de Go! and Tokyo Bus Guide)
Densha de go is still alive : new game will come on December 2
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put this video together! It was really interesting and informative. Loved all the commentary :)
This is strangely relaxing. Same with "Densha de Go!" videos. I swear, I could watch these for hours. :)
I would certainly buy a bus simulator game, focusing around the bus lines in Tokyo area. That game with modern graphics. Man...
Given how popular weird simulation games are now, Tokyo Bus Guide was a good 2 decades ahead of its time.
I agree. Very fond memories of playing this in the early 2000s. I now play a lot of Euro Truck Simulator in VR (with wheel etc) when I have the time away from work. I would kill for a new bus sim with a recreation of Japan.
I won't say they're popular now, simulators peaked in popularity 2014 with Surgeon Simulator.
He made this look easy. It is super super difficult!!
Japan simulation game more concern with simulating the experience rather than the technical aspects, that's why I love it
I don't know you but I already love your channel
I tried this game few days ago and with my zero Japanese knowledge I was failing persistently. Your video is very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
I bought this game in akihabara, great memories I have.
I used to love this game!
The train running with the bus is [Yurikamome]
Recuerdo que lo busque para PC porque no se me llamo la atención cuando lo ví en un video " evolución de los juegos de buses"
Niceeee
BTW, I was in Odaiba last year and the way we got there was by taxi. Unable to figure out another way using public transportation. Probably there are some, but taxi is easy and reasonable price if you share the taxi with more people
Thanks for the comments. Yeah. I was disappointed to miss out on Odaiba because I really wanted to go to Joypolis. We basically just ran out of time. We also didn't investigate buses or taxis -- just stuck to subway and trains. But oh well. There's always next time. :)
Thanks for the comments. I'm working on the second course of Tokyo Bus Guide. I've actually managed to map the route exactly using Google Maps, so it should be a good video. This game is surprisingly accurate.
I discovered this game few days ago and I couldn't resist. Order placed to one of the Ebay Japanese sellers. Waiting to receive my original DC copy of the game. The DC emulation in PC is quite disappointing and I want to experience the original experience using my Japanese Dreamcast. I learned a lot from your video, something I really appreciate due to my totally lack of Japanese skills. Looking forward to check out your next video! And if you visit Odaiba next time, check out Daikanransha. Awesome views from the top. I also want to visit Japan again :) Subscribed!
Thank you, sir. Original hardware is the way to go, and luckily, this game is pretty cheap. There's also a sequel on PS2, which I own but haven't dug into yet.
Sad, there is no english version of this serie. It would be good.
Thanks
👏
I'm wondering what's the name of the Song in Rainbow Bridge in this Game.
Does this have a free-roaming mode... GTA style I guess, not necesarily in the way of murdering pedestrians or anything, just driving arround without worrying anything else.
4:47 its something like wrong lane.
Maybe you slightly clipped into the right turning lane?
Or you blocked the right turn lane?
Maybe just bug.
Maybe you have to be on the left most lane?
15:00 Yurikamome Line?
yes
@@norimono_channel Cool :)
