  • This video was a bit of a passion project for me, as the release of dragonspine was my first time going really ham on uncovering every little lore tidbit I could while playing Genshin Impact. The Celestial Nails fascinate me to no end, and so I decided to take you all on a hunt for them-- yes, even in Inazuma.

unfortunately most of the lore is very cryptic and it takes a lot of time and effort to connect the dots. most of the time i stumble upon a piece of lore, i just don't have enough info to interpret it as something meaningful. only thanks to channels like these i get to enjoy how detailed and inspired the world building actually is. i see it as one of the game's bigger failures, personally. there's hinting at certain events and history, and then there's this vague, metaphorical, unrelated narrator bs that genshin is doing that you have to do tons of homework to even start to understand.

@@SandersCat_yo if you play honkai and ggz its actually just rewrite of its lore.
And since genshin is part of the honkai universe. Honkai players already know why asmodeus and the celestials are destroying civilizations when they reach certain level. And why the sky is fake and why they locked off genshin universe so no one will get in or out.
It's the fear of honkai discovering their universe. In ggz and hi3 human civilization gets infected by honkai when they reach certain level. In hi3 humans already lost and was destroyed in ggz the end game literally them getting wiped out only.
And in APHO and honkai star rail we discovered another universe civilization that escaped the honkai incursion with turning themselves into a hybrid robot monsters discarding their human forms.
So asmodeus or the celestials solution to not be invaded by the honkai would be to lock off teyvat and go low profile. And any civilization that gets too powerful and could potentially attract honkai gets nailed.

The Primordial One sent nails down in panic and fear. The very fabric of reality was fading, and there were chains that got unshackled, so he had to send down nails to mend the land.
The shackles could be the technology PO used to regulate the "elemental currents" of the elemental realm to turn them into "ley lines" that form the foundation of the human realm.
It's very basic concept we already witnessed. Anything messing with ley lines to a higher degree can ruin everything.. just look at Tsurumi. Or Ei second quest.
Abyss can tear the very fabric of reality, and undo everything PO made, or in other words, defy the laws of the world a.k.a: heavenly principles. Which trigger drastic counter measures like nails.
And yes, the Mural in all domains have a picture of what seems like winged entity throwing down nails on Tyvat. Just look at that thing behind the tree at the end of any domain.

    Spoiler Ararnara world quest:
If i recall correctly, when you make it to old Vanarana with Arama you get to see a few wall paintings. These paintings tell the story of Vanarana and the Aranara, for example when they met our sibling. Furthermore, one of the paintings shows a nail like shape hovering over the home of the Aranara. When interacting with this picture, the traveler even mentions that the nail shaped object feels oddly familiar, as if they had encountered something like it before. After observing the wall paintings, the Aranara tell you that their original home was in the land that is now covered by sand, where no life can exist. By this, they are most likely talking about the desert part we have yet to unlock, as it is located right next to old Vanarana. This is also the area with the mysterious sandstorm and the blue glow. Due to their old home turning from a lush green forest into a deadly desert they had to relocate their home to what we know as "Old Vanarana". They moved to "Vanarana" only much later with the help of our sibling, after Old Vanarana also became polluted by the Marana (aka the Withering).
So where do I want to go with this: I think it is very likely the sandstorm in the locked desert area is hiding a celestial nail.
In my opinion, the nails were used every time the beings of Teyvat came in too close contact with the truth of their world. To me it seems likely that Celestia does not want the people to know this truth which is why they send a "purifying" nail to purge the source of it everytime it surfaces. It is also possible that already at the very beginning of Teyvat's creation, something went "wrong" and forbidden knowledge oozes from the very depth of the world for all time. To prevent the entire world from collapsing through forbidden knowledge, Celestia basically has to use the nails in order to protect Teyvat. I would not be surprised if at the end of our journey we find out the only way to fix things is to destroy all of Teyvat or, similar to Ei's second story quest, we have to enter the space between time and space and chance the very foundation of Teyvat.
If you read until here thank you and have a good day C:

It could be possible since the Sumeru Archon quest says Deshret sacrificed himself to stop the spread of forbidden knowledge maybe the reason there isn’t a Celestial Nail in Sumeru is because the forbidden knowledge there was already “dealt with” so Celestia saw no reason to use one.
and on the speculation at the end that Celestia looks like there are nails “ready to be fired” and considering the withering and Elezar came from forbidden knowledge corrupting Sumeru it’s possible one of the nails was going to be used on Sumeru if Irminsul wasn’t healed

(It might spoil Interlude Chapter Act 3)
11:40 After completing Scaramouche's Interlude Archon Quest, I am more inclined to trust the "baseless folktales", especially when they contradict what is percieved to be History. Also, artifacts seem to be immune to Irminsul rewrintings (Husk of Opulent Dreams still tell Scaramouche's story as it actually happened and the Viridescent Venerer's Determination still explicit states Rukkhadevata existed and died - quite intriguing, now that I think of it, since we get artifacts directly from Irminsul branches, although petrfied ones). On the contrary, books can be rewritten.
In the Vermillion sands it is also stated that the descendants of the Dunyu people "have forgotten their past", while the Records of Jueyun: Hidden Jade say that neither the Adepti nor the Yaksha talk about the meteorite. Could it be because they where all forced to forget what really happened? Maybe helping repair the Sun Chariot (a figure linked to the three Moons and the Seelies, who at the time of the falling of the nails had fell from grace) was seen as a threat by Celestia

I keep trying to wrap my head around what Tehvat looked like before the Primordial One descended. An elemental world ruled by the 7 Dragon/Vishap Lords and probably entirely inhospitable to humans or was it? How would people have any knowledge if they never witnessed it? Also did the Seelie races already exist or did they arrive with the Primordial one descending from the Celestial realm or were they created merely to guide humans? I thought Seelie existed long before humans in the lore as a precursor race but did they live alongside the Vishaps, apart from them or just show up later? Then begs the question of why 7 rulers of the elements was necessary. Are these the shackles keeping the world created by the Primordial One intact or how the Vishaps held back the Abyss? Whatever the case it seems the truth of Tehvat is that it's artificial and didn't occur naturally so of course that means it suffers from Erosion and stability as the old world and natural laws wear it down.
It would be like building a dome world on Mars. If you go outside the dome your death is pretty assured and yet everyone in this particular dome doesn't realize it is what it is. Problem is the dome is falling a part and the previous denizens might not want us here. There's also the matter of the 2nd Descender who came and decided to wreck the dome. Then the people in the dome got smart and realized things in the dome were suss. That caused some issues.

@Harry Shade I was pretty sure the game lore suggested the Seelie were said to rule long before humans and went into decline mainly because of the curse placed upon them for 1 having fallen in love with a human but like the Vishaps they were natives of Tehvat. I have also heard that they were the Celestial messengers to humans but it's never been clarified that I can tell.
Also, which beginning are you referring to? Vishaps existed pre-Phanos and their 7 dragonlords ruled Tehvat long before he came, which is why he's known as the 1st Descender. That's not Tehvat's beginning just another landmark in its timeline. It's also most likely not even the beginning of Phanos story as we have no knowledge of where he came from prior to Tehvat.

  • @kallistiravenhurst5232

it was pointed out by another theorist that the nails so far seem connected to the different elements. even if not in accord with the element of the nation. Liyue got geo [the lines of energy and the abundance of ore], Mondstat got cryo [the sudden blizzard], maybe Inazuma got hydro [another comment here suggested the idea of Inazuma having become flooded], and Sumeru seems to have gotten Anemo [sandstorms, which formed around the blatent chasm reskin, are caused by winds blowing in places with a bunch of loose sand] it's possible that the nails purify the energy/black mud in a way that's more of a bandage then a proper cure, like trying to use one filter for a tank of fish without ever replacing it or cleaning it out. They could still be a more weaponized method, but if that's all they do then why not have a way to pick them back up to re-use, or at least have an easier time sending another in the same area?

There is an actual mountain (not actualy story wise) in the sandstorm, (can’t actualy see it) and there is a nail in it, I would assume similar to dragonspine, and since there is the area below the sandstorm, it would make sense that the nail attempted to destroy the paradise down there, but was blocked by the mountain and instead caused the sandstorm

so... Celestia is the Teyvat equivalent of the "Rods from God", they're Orbital Kinetic Bombardment weapons, a weapon concept thought up in our World, basically satellites that shoot giant tungsten rods at such great speeds that when they impact, the drop zone is basically destroyed as if it was hit by a huge bomb.

Im pretty sure almost all nations got hit by some sort of divine nail, Vindagnyr got hit by the skyfrost nail, the chasm got the divine pillar, tsurumi got one whoch fractured (i think) and fell into the sea, sumeru got ay khanoum (first one, city of jinni, not city of amphitheatre) which got obliterated by a nail and the nail turned the lush plains and forest into the great desert of sumeru, and in Fontaine its probably remuria, it was said that remuria fell into chaos and disaster and sank into the ground (like enkanomiya?) So i wager it got hit by another nail

You didn't touch upon it in your video, so I'll drop some more evidence for you. With the exception of what you've said in your videos, the confirmed Nails in Dragonspine and Chasm have another similarity. Both of them lack Ley Line Outcrops. Ley Line Outcrops will not Spawn in Dragonspine nor in the Chasm Crater. Now, Where else do Ley Line Outcrops not spawn? Yep. Tsurumi Island. In terms of the overworld (ie not underground maps), the only 3 locations where Ley Line outcrops will not spawn are the places where a Nail or suspected Nail has fallen. Just more evidence for Tsurumi Island to have been nuked by a nail for you.

That was talked about at the end of the video... time and space could not be separated and all barriers broken thing... it's uhm... eternity because there will be nothing which can be changed if all things will be one then nothing can influence it like gravity has an impact on sand and time but if that will be merged together then i shall call that eternity so um... it's that what Raiden searching?! Anyway these nails resembles me one secret project i don't remember it's name but it was a weapon well what else human can invented righ...it was basically a rod made from hard materials with high melt point like titanium carbon wolfram etc... And these rods should be placed on earth's orbit on some sort of satellite and released when needed and on impact it will made a huge boom but non radioactive which is good but that temps speed and mass (rods can actually be partially melted during long fall throu atmosphere) will be really dangerous but that program was ceased it was costly to put these rods on orbit they were really heavy and where it will lands was a bit unpredictable you can't really aim from these heights throu atmospheric conditions and speeds but who knows what comes next...

I wonder if the nails actually have elemental effects same as the elements used by the gods and people. For Mondstadt the nail had a cryo effect freezing the mountain. For Liyue, a geo effect which caused its twisting always changing mines. For inazuma, a hydro effect such as we can see water droplets in the air around us. For Sumeru, maybe pryo effect cause for all we know the desert could of been a rainforest like the other half of Sumeru but a nail fell burning away the rainforest leaving only sand and heat left behind. But then again that's just a theory A GAME THEORY also I heard that sumery quote on quote has the first nail to ever fall from the sky

i think that the traveler is activating the doomsday devices for cleansing without know. And the Abis order is trying to keep the world running avoiding the device from start. (or to control it, maybe? The story can have many outcomes from what we know or deduce until now.. The "sides" of some of the characters and backstoryes fit to the plot. And a twist of events is always dramactical and amazing to a story (a good one at least).. Oh, a "HIT" to everyone.. try to get always all the eletroculus, anemoculy, dendroculus (PRINCIPALY the +1 extra) etc... From my almost 35 years as a professional player, is quite repeated the concept, that to be able to unlock the "white" power on the traveler, you will need to use those at some point of the history to unlock that power.. I def. think if Khaenri'ah got their hands on any nail in particular (since their ruin guards on Dragonspine are transmitting that they FAILED to grasp the skyborne power there) that it was the Inazuman ones. Hi, there's nothing wrong with my mic. This was one of my earliest longform videos when I first started this channel and I was worried that listeners would have a hard time following me if I just launched into reading huge chunks of in-game text without any indication. I used a sound that I sourced myself, from old vinyl records, to indicate I was 'reading in-game ancient history'.
It turned out a lot of people didn't get it, and it just came off as sounding like distortion and so I gladly never used the technique again. Just one of those things that didn't carry over as well as I thought it might in my head, and an unnecessary artistic flourish.
