That extra port you refer to was mainly due to Microsoft teaming up with a digital broadcasting company to make the xbox a digital tv set box aswell as a gaming console but that deal fell through so we end up with a extra port

All Xbox Ones have the pass thru ability since the first version came out. You can do the same with a PS4 and the pass thru port.
Honestly though, I wish Microsoft had a better solution to people who bought discs to play games. I don't want to pay for my games a 2nd time.
Maybe a code so you download it digitally free.
Microsoft DO have a better solution so you don't have to pay for games twice. The standard Xbox One S and X.
I just want to play Legacy Edition on my one. I think I can download the TU31 Update world somewhere, but I donât think I can put it in my WiiU due to BOTWâs update data taking up most of the space.

The reason why there is two HDMI ports is because Microsoft thought that some people might only have an old hdmi TV with only one hdmi port so they can plug in their other game console/set top box, so that's why there are two HDMI ports.
No thatâs not why they wanted u to hook it up with your tv antenna or cable box so your Xbox is alway on u can talk with your friends while watching tv or switch game and tv from your controller

â@juniorhunter7268 actually it was use for one guide feature on xbox one you basically connect a cable box to your second hdmi port and with it put in you can move the cable box with the xbox controller and when your not home you can remote controlled it with the xbox Companion app and watch live TV from anywhere this was before Netflix and Hulu took off in popularity

Iâm not sure do you know it but there is actually under the case of the Xbox one S digital edition that there is actually still the eject button is just that you cannot press it when you use the cover from the digital version. So once you took the case away, you could see the resemblance of the disk version
Im pretty sure you can set multiple xboxâs as your home xbox and basically when you do it you can play the game without the disk, idk if it works like that but i think it does

Technically the second HDMI port is to plug in a cable receiver so you can watch tv
You can also conect snd play your xbox 360 though it
You can also play Xbox on your phone
I've plugged a Nintendo in it and was able to play that thru the xbox. Anything with an hdmi cable should work in that port.

also a tip, this also works with the xbox series S so if you already have an xbox one and you want a next gen console then getting the series S is still a really good option for you (If you still want to play disc games)
It'd be better if series x were easier to get & ppl who didn't want all digital didn't have to settle. I have limited space in my entertainment center, but after trying for 9 months, i finally settled for a series s. Whichever disc based system i find 1st, I'm sticking with. The series s can either get sold if i find a series x or be a game pass box w my ps5 (non scalped, obviously).

So, technically speaking this could work with a Series S, if you don't have the clams for an X. If you have a spare OG Xbox One, then this is the solution. I am going to try this and see if I can play Half Life 2.

Well you have go in setting on both console's I used CZcams video to show me how. More importantly it worked! It's hard to explain it and I would probably have to go back on CZcams if I wanted to port a game over again

Good luck with that. They may have left the connectors in there, but Microsoft removed the firmware for using optical discs. It won't be able to read any disc you put in. Anybody would think Microsoft had considered this possibility when they designed the 'All Digital' version. Maybe they're a just a bit smarter than you thought?

Are u saying that you have to have a disc edition to play a disc on a non disc edition?? So can you just use the X disc version and eliminate the disc less one?
You seem to have missed the joke... but you're not the first and probably not the last. đ Microsoft made absolutely sure you can't just plug in an optical drive to play discs on the non disc version. The Xbox One 'All Digital' had the routines to read optical discs removed from it's firmware.
I would just sell one of them. It's redundant to have both unless you have one for home & one for the cottage
