- There has been a bit of discussion surrounding the moves the Mariners should make to improve their team around the trade deadline. One that has seen a bit of traction lately has been trading the 2nd ranked prospect in the system, young catcher Harry Ford. Currently in AA Arkansas, Ford's value likely has never been higher in terms of the trade market. The question is though, should the Mariners pull the trigger?

them trading Blake hunt makes me think a Harry Ford trade is not very likely
I think so, too.
The fact they traded Hunt and Zavala is still on this roster is nuts…
Hunt was hot garbage his whole minor league career until he got to the most hitter friendly league (pcl)
Before anyone else says this, I will. If you are going to trade Harry Ford, it has to be of equal value. You don't trade him for a bat for which you only have the remaining season or 1.5 years. You don't trade him for a bat for which you can't resign, either.
STFU, just about everyone is tradable right now, M’s are leading the division with a bullpen to win a World Series. M’s are pushing their chips in this year or Stanton needs to sell the team because he can’t afford this ball club and its market.
If Cal went down, this team would be toast
Protect cal at all costs
Big dumper has been arguably our MVP. Ford is prolly worth trading imo. Let's fix the polanco or garver situation first. Call is our Dan Wilson. Go M's.
@@caseyzemliska643I love cal, but that’s DMO right bows
Legitimately totally forgot that Garver is a catcher lol. I pray we don't have to see him behind the plate.
No way in hell. Ford takes over when they have to pay cal
It was like a mix of Jesus Sucre, Mike Zunino when he was bad, Jesus Montero, and I think Chris Ianneta during those bad times XD
If they're 5 games + ahead in the division at the deadline, no one should be safe. Trade whoever you need to trade to get significantly better
Hell no! Unless you get a super star because that is what Ford is.
Its lookin like the al west is the only chance for playoffs for mariners, astros, ans rangers. Whixh is sad cause that means the mariners are going to yet again miss the playoffs
We really need a backup for Cal. Too much of a workload for him.
Big dumper has been arguably our MVP. Ford is prolly worth trading imo. Let's fix the polanco or garver situation first. Cal "The Clutch" is our Dan Wilson. Go M's
Ford is a really good prospect and I'd hate to see him go, it would be awesome to see him and Cal rotate between catcher and DH one day. However I think Jerry knows Seattle is in win now mode and we desperately need another bat or two. I read an article that suggested we trade (I think) Lazaro Montes for Vladimir Guerrero Jr straight up. I think that offer isn't enough but if that's the weight the #84 prospect carries then Ford should definitely give a better haul.
You are worried about Ford? That’s what maybe 2028 Mariners? You trade Ford and basically anyone in the farm to get an all star bat right now.
Most offensive problems go away when Julio is hitting. Being in first place right now only because the rest of the division is losing is not much of a comfort. Going forward, the M's need to figure out how to get Julio hitting BEFORE July-August. TWO homers to date from the guy who hit 80+ in the home run derby last year? He should have accidentally hit five or six by now! Have they even considered closing off the North end of T-Mobile, where the breeze off the water routinely turns homers into warning track fly balls?!!!
To me i go based how far away they are if the player is close like Forda year or 2 away don't trade but if your like peete or farmelo trade there like 5 years away I'm a win now type of person
How abt nick madrigal or trevor larnach? Not for harry tho bc you know who harry ford is
If we aren't going to dabble in free agency, we have to start developing from within, and even fast tracking a few of our prospects, none of them are as close as Ford to being big league ready. After Cal, Julio, Kelenic (and White and Lewis) we had a huge organizational gap in positional talent and still do that is close to major league ready. The trade for Canzone and Bliss helped fill that gap slightly, but neither of those guys are sure-fire starters at this point. I dislike trading major league ready positional talent where we don't have much, almost as much as I dislike trading flawed (or injured) players for other flawed players. Need a few more tentpoles you can pencil in for 140+ instead of this mix and match garbage. Polanco and Mitch looked cooked at this point, and we are getting off-year Garver (FA). Urias looked silly at the time and still looks silly.
Shhh just watch the games, playing GM doesn’t suit you.
keep Ford get rid of Zavala
Nooooooooooooooo!
WE NEED ANOTHER BAT
Sure, trading Harry Ford is possible, but you don't trade Harry Ford for a bat unless we get a some catcher prospect in a return package.
That’s dumb, the entire farm and a lot of guys can be traded and some staters. It’s called the window, it’s 2024 Mariners time, it’s not 2028 Mariners we are worried about.
The M’s would be insane to trade Ford. He’s EXACTLY the type of player we need. Would have to be only traded for a legitimate Superstar. Cal will need to move to 1B/DH or be moved himself.
I doubt it happens too. But I could see Marlowe, Bliss, maybe Hancock on that block.
Ford would be the one to switch positions if anyone, he’s way too athletic
@@Tmac1n I also don't think there is a bat that will be available on the block that Jerry will think justifies trading away Ford for.
We cant afford to trade him because Cal isnt resogning in Seattle and well have to trade him at least a year left couple years of Cal and and he'll be a Yankee,,dodger,Met,RedSox... unfortunately 😢
This makes me think they are close to giving up on Garver a their everyday DH. He's owed $8 million this season and the only reason he isn't catching is his injury history. If you've given up on him being available to play everyday-he offers a much backup catcher/pinch hit bat than Zavala and opens up a spot on the roster.
Garver has been heating up this month. They aren't going to give up on him that quickly
Nobody wants Garver and he's under contract next year 12.5
@@divorcing_dads yeah that's sorta my point. His contract doesn't really make him attractive to other teams so the team is going to eat his salary no matter if they trade him, cut him, or keep him on the roster.
If he continues to be mediocre as an everyday DH then, roster wise, it makes a lot of sense to give up on that plan and acquire a DH at the deadline. You're probably forced to keep Garver on your roster as a backup to Cal. He's got more experience calling games than Zavala, and offers more ceiling offensively. If he gets hurt, losing a backup catcher is hardly a death sentence for their season.
@@gabrielstafford5174 I hate to break it to you, but over the last 17 games Garver is 14/60 (.233) batting, with 2 HR, 7 RBI and 21 strikeouts (K % of .350). He's been Luke warm, at best.
I personally don't even think he can afford to play well. If he doesn't begin to look like an all star within the next week or two the org is going to be facing the decision of where to improve this lineup. They cannot waste the window of contention this rotation has given them, and they have the farm to make a move. When they make that move, DH is probably the most obvious position unless Garver's play improves to the point another player begins looking like the odd man out. Personally, Garver hasn't shown me anything this year to prove that he can turn it around at the plate and be the impact bat that this team needs.
We mkre then 1 bat away are you kidding... no one on this team an hit a curve since Servais has told them sit FASTBALL!!!
Me personally I want to keep Cole Young and Harry Ford, I am open to trading anyone else
Trading montes would be stupid too
This was settled when Tom Murphy left. No way Ford gets traded. As for Cal getting paid? Harry Ford is the backup.
>ford
>traded
N O
“A lot of talk” from fcking WHO?!? 😂
Sign Brandon Belt.
i really hope they dont trade him i would be really upset, they traded Gabby Gonzales and Topa for Polanco when we could of just signed Amed Rosario and a free agent instead and kept gabby and Topa..
Amed Rosario… really 😐 y’all cry for this team to actually go out and try to make this team good and then still whine about it and say bs like this
@@SkolProductions id rather have amed rosario than polanco and still have a good prospect in the system and a good arm in the bullpen instead of polanco who everyone wants the team to DFA alrdy... but go on...
Who is talking about trading ford besides you?

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Trade Ford for Lars Nootbar
Top prospect…???
Yea he’s a top prospect. Not the top prospect but a top prospect
Time for Dr. Rebuild.
First 💪🏻
The team is garbage 🗑
Wow.....I'll be pissed if they trade Harry Ford. They keep trading off all the good prospects and players for all these no-name clowns, who is making all these horrible trades? Who ever is thinking about trading Ford should seriously be fired. Worst decision you could make. Total idiots. This is why we're such a laughing stock...thanks a lot Scott Servicehim. I'm losing all my faith in the Mariners.....
I'd keep Ford and bring him up in 2026. Cal is for sure gone soon after via trade or FA because I doubt he wants to be here for the main reason that Boras is his agent and the comments made in the past. Also physically, he probably doesn't have a long shelf life at catcher. Just seems like a logical transition to me.
If I'm ownership I don't let Dipoto trade anyone!!! He put together this team and now were Stuck with Garver whos hitting under .100 pn offspeed pitches... 9years is enough!!! Time for a change from the TOP DOWN!!!! DIPOTO and SERVAIS have to GO!!!!
Trade Castillo, Emmerson Handcock, canzone can go. Urius can go. Heck JP should go.
You dont trade Castillo
or Crawford
All the talk of Harry Ford being a great athlete, WHY would you waste that on CATCHER? Example, Raleigh is slow & lumbering in the typical Catcher's mold, his future is 1B/DH. Ford should've been moved into the OF by now. The M's are forever clueless with position players.
