    Love your video, especially your comments. Obviously you have been doing this a long time and have learned from your experience and your mistakes. Regarding blade wear, especially the rounding of the corners and the effect of leaving a "rooster tail" strip between the blades. Have you ever known blades to wear and actually get shorter? I measure the length of my blades after removing them and get, say, 16.15". Then when I try to find the proper replacement blade, the manual says it should be, say, 16.45". Hard to believe they could shorten that much from wear. The corners are also rounded a bit, and the rooster tails can be pretty bad where the blades overlap. Any comments?

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  Před 3 měsíci

      First I want to say thank you for viewing and commenting.
      As per blade length, They will wear short over time but I believe the biggest issue is blades now-a-days are built to the specs.
      Meaning you could buy 3 sets of new blades and all 3 could be, 1/16" difference.
      But yes the rounded corners is the biggest issue.

    I recommend having 2 sets of blades. When the set on mower needs to be sharpened, simply swap sets. Then sharpen the dull set to be ready for the next swap.

    There's more to shapening lawn mower blades than just running a grinder across it, you have to balance each blade by removing equal amounts of metal from each end, so you don't ruin your spindle bearings

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  Před 2 lety +2

      Things don't have to be so complicated my-friend. But I will say a person needs to have common sense and not grind one end down more than the other. Maybe I should have mentioned that. 😉
