Im an Aussie who lives/works in Thailand. 2 of my staff said they want to move to Sydney and wanted to rent a similar place to what they had here.... They lived in 2 bedroom condos right on the beach for 380aud a month.... Best laugh Id had in ages.

I've lived in Australia for over 10 years and actually the outdoors is one of the things that I dislike the most. There geography changes really slowly in Australia, so one can go 100km up or down and still looks like a similar landscape, unless one travels really far. I lived in three other countries previously and they all had more diverse nature within shorter distances.

Thank you for your insight. The inflation cycle, everywhere in this world, contributes to the rising cost of living.

Malaysia has a Vision 2020, making the country with a developed nation status, by income per capita. However, the target to achieve it by year 2020 hasn't been materialised yet. Should Malaysia become a nation with a income per capita of a developed country, then it will naturally moves towards a higher cost of operating business and higher cost of living. The public and private sector always find their ways to pass along the rising costs to the people, everywhere in this world.

Yep, the grass will always be greener to anyone on the opposite side. Realistically, there is no perfect country in the world coz there are no perfect people. Even with loads of money as you have demonstrated, some things are just beyond it.
I’ve made an attempt to move out of my country too but had to turn back for reasons that are too long to explain. However, I’ve no regrets coz my country (also SEAsia) of origin isn’t bad, in fact many (mostly the rich) will say it’s paradise.
I think the most important thing to bear in mind when moving to another country is to focus on what you want that’s there and then be prepared to deal with the downside of it. I’m really happy for you as a family to be close to one another in every way coz that’s how families should be.

If you live in Australia how many times can you get a 90 day visa each year in Malaysia . How many times can you enter Malaysia .

I don't disagree but SE Asia is very diverse as well. You have Muslims, Christians, Buddhist and atheist living together. In Malaysia the Malays, Natives, Chinese and Indians are all Malaysians as well.

I understand that you dislike losing a lot of money. As a college student from Indonesia living in Taiwan, it's pretty hard to go around with a lot of money.
. If you have time, be sure to come to Indonesia. Rupiah is cheaper than Ringgit, and the people are quite friendly.

When I was younger, the grass always looked greener everywhere else. I used to live in the UK for quite a while, but I got sick of the weather and came back. Now that I'm older, I know there is no place like home. But honestly, my travel bug tells me I won't retire here in Malaysia. I am still trying to figure out where to move, but Australia is not one of the places I would consider due to the cost of living. Sorry about that, mate!

Seems like this is from a WA perspective. 100% agree that the cost of living is total BS. BUT, in Melbourne, there are buses and trains. And I'm also within walking distance to everything you mentioned. There are also a lot of 24-hour shops here in Melbourne.

I was about to object to what they said about no option to live in a walkable area or in an apartment, then I realised they were from WA. In Melbourne or Sydney you can choose an apartment that is walkable for everything.

yup . i agree . in 2024 dont come to australia , even us aussies are struggling , and we get more money at jobs than most countries . dont blame us tho , blame our government , theyre trying to make us all poor so they can control us . in one year my exact same shopping bill that i have every fortnight has gone up 80 dollars . our money hasnt gone up in many years tho .
