  • We check out Mekanism and it's awesome ability to duplicate ore 2X, 3X, 4X and even 5X!!! You've been out mining a hard days work and come home with your haul. Throw it in the machine and bingo bango bongo you've got 5 times more ingots than you put in ore. From this you can follow along and craft your own 5X system.

  • @TRak598
    @TRak598 Před 5 lety +2

    For further ore processing, there is AOBD (Another One Bites the Dust) which allows practically any ore to be processed in any system. But only on 1.7.10 :(.
    And, as you said, the Crystalizer is the issue, while the Dissolution Chamber is at the same "speed", the inputs generate slurry worth of 5 ingot already, and the Washer is simply faster. 2 Dissolution Chambers into 2 Washers and 7 Crystalizers should be enough.
    A note to future builders: Be sure that you really WANT 5x ores. That's right, you'll never need anything past 4x, it's more a convenience and fancy setup than anything else. The power, material and space requirements are about 4x the previous tier.

    • @oblyx
      @oblyx  Před 5 lety +1

      True it is expensive in terms of resources and power. However, it leads you to be able to build things such as the Induction Matrix, in which you will want every ingot you can get, which also means you probably already have a reactor. In mekanism it's very much a case of one machine leads to another, and they support each other.

    • @jonqrandom
      @jonqrandom Před 5 lety

      on 1.12.2, there's JAOPCA which is a similar thing to AOBD (and has some addons itself!), or the more specific MekanismOres addon if you're only looking to add Mek compat for other ores :)

    • @harry_burnsworth
      @harry_burnsworth Před rokem

      Couple things; The machine at end that bottlenecked to 64 stack at end, could make 2 machines, but if it bottleneck down the line then each of those would have to be doubled. However, that is if you want ingots right away which judging by design cost probably won't be an issue at this stage in the game, anyways.
      Another thing, since you are not likely going to be processing ore non-stop, the tanks you have could be also used to store the output of brine during "non processing times", as a buffer in that process.
      The gold slurry seemed like a bottleneck, too, but that could be scaled up, or the 1st line of machines scaled down, accordingly. Not that it's an issue, but that would be what's needed.
      I haven't messed with the evaporator/brine producer so am unsure of its output rate. Anyways, can't wait to try messing with this in a couple days. I'm working on a computer craft program to indefinetly put down digital miners or quarry setups, that will have turtle #1 placing all quarrying items in place, with turtle #2 following behind placing down a chunkloader. Then a tesseract that will send the ores back to base, for a virtually infinite input of ores, lol....

    Hey +oblyx I want to say this has been a great tutorial. I have used this multiple times as a go back video for setting up 5x ore duplication. One thing I wanted to chime in on is instead of gunpowder for sulfur you can setup a Pressurized Reaction Chamber and feed it coal to get sulfur. The reaction chamber only needs a electrolytic separator and kitchen sink thrown in for all of the ingredients for this method. Since coal is much more easily accessible in game than creeper farming is my thought.

    • @oblyx
      @oblyx  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for the kind words. Yeah there are actual quite a few was to get there. For the video I tried to focus on one that was easily sustainable on term after setup. I didn't go the coal route because you either have to mine it or setup a digital miner and keep moving it. If I were playing with only Mekanism I'd probably use coal until I got a vanilla creeper farm setup. I built a really awesome one in my vanilla series not long ago for rockets. Anyway, I'm glad the video has been a good reference for you. Thanks again.

      Nope, that pyramid is a world gen structure part of The New Frontier mod pack. It's actually a dungeon, with a staircase down into all sorts of badness. There is also one a very short distance from our New Frontier house in that series. We found it when we went out searching for Botania flowers back in episode 6. The Mekanism stuff looks a lot scarier than it really is. It follows the basic rules of real life chemistry that we all sat through in high school. Just remember these basic rules. Fluids go in an electrolytic separator and come out gasses, gasses go into a chemical infuser and become different gasses. If you want to switch from a liquid to a gas, or vise versa use a rotary condensentrator such as water vapor to water, or the opposite. Those three things will take you most the way through the mod. Sadly, there is no book for Mekanism. But the mod author Aidan Brady keeps a decent web site which has a wiki.

Few things... gunpowder could have been fed in by a (crusher or enrichment chamber, i forget exactly) with flint instead, and mek can produce flint from gravel, which it can produce from cobble, so you really just need a cobblestone generator as the input there. And... At the end, you give a bit of a challenge, asking what other mod can produce 5x ores... ... Have you heard of RotaryCraft? :) Extractor will yield on average 5x ingots as well, and slightly easier to setup. only slightly. the shaft power conversions needed to run RotaryCraft may drive you batty. :)

      Hi Cloud and thanks for the comment. Yes you could use something like a cobble gen, but they are not common in packs beyond skybock. Using a mob farm is something anyone can do even with vanilla mechanics in any pack which is why I went that way. Things like sulfer from Thermal Dynamics are also an option but again not in every pack. I try to keep my tutorials very generalized to cover a larger variety of packs. I have used Rotary Craft before long ago. To my knowledge it has not been developed on in quite some time. Think it ended back in 1.7.2 if i'm not mistaken, though could be wrong there. Not much modern besides Mek that can get you that yield. It was a cool mod though. I wouldn't mind seeing someone pick up the mantle and bring it back.

    I'm on mekanism ver. 1.12.2-9.7.9.380 (Sept. 2019)
    My gas-burning generators are making 120RF/t, and the electrolytics are using 120 RF/t to produce the hydrogen.
    I assume they've nerfed the gas gens down to utter garbage now, given the circumstances.
    +update+
    I just got done testing it extensively.
    For some reason, the separators don't benefit from energy efficiency upgrades. Threw 2 stacks of upgrades into 16 separators (the maximum 8 each), and put all their hydrogen outputs along a length of ultimate pressurized gas piping. I then directed those all into one gas generator. The generator plateau'd at 32x burn rate*, and produced exactly the same energy as consumed the total of 16 fully upgraded separators. I pulled the energy upgrades out, and each of the separators continued to consume the same power as they did with 8/8 energy upgrades.
    All the gas generators are good for is if you just want the oxygen, and want a self-sustaining loop of energy to infinitely generate oxygen from the separators.
    I don't know why you'd want that, but that's the only reason to ever make even a single gas-burning generator nowadays... which is ridiculous.
    (*as opposed to 2x each when I tested 16 generators to match my 16 separators, so there's no reason to have more than one per 50 separators because the burn rate is 2x per separator-worth-of-hydrogen, and a single gas burning generator doesn't cap out til 100x burn rate.)

    • @oblyx
      @oblyx  Před 4 lety

    Thank you for this detailed tutorial, at first I made a 3x setup, after that I managed to make a compact and neat looking 4x setup (I know you didn't make it compact for the sake of showing it clearly). I don't really need 5x but I'll consider going for it if I can manage to also make it compact and neat, need some brainstorming :p

      With the exception of the evap towers it can be pretty small. You could sacrifice speed and cut down on evap towers.

    I start at Tinkers' since you just need a shovel and a little bit of gold/aluminum brass. Then Thermal, and I don't think I have ever gotten to T4 Mek.

      You should try it, it's fun to build.

      @@oblyx Yeah, it has always been a thing of the brine honestly. I get to tripling then say screw it when the amount of brine is needed. I will probably do something akin to how I store a few other liquids, which is have the producers going to some absurdly massive storage tank.
