    This is awesome to see. I've been trying to find out how well a 3 link would work with the upper not only on the opposite side of the axle from the diff and on the axle end of the drag link. This is definitely going to help me package my 3 link in my 3B when I finally get back from deployment.

    So you lied... I count the kinks again and again and keep on getting 4 each time.
    If you think the Panhard doesn't count - take it off and try some tuns and curves!
    What is shown here is a Panhard four link.
    A 'tree link' is a radius arm suspension, where there are two longitudinal links and one transversal link (which is the Panhard bar).

  • @BuildItWheelItExploreIt

    What pitman arm are you using? Dropped or and if so how much or just a part number. Thanks

  • @BuildItWheelItExploreIt

    How long are your lower and upper links? Did you cover in any of your videos the transmission mount you came up with etc? I'm working on my 1 ton explorer build and started learning quickly about how the track bar needs to be as high as possible off the axle to prevent the axle from swinging.. and I needed to make the upper link longer for sure to point the pinion up while at full droop...

    • @RecklessWrenchGarage
      @RecklessWrenchGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      My lower links are around 40 inches and the upper link is slightly shorter and is around 37 inches. I was more concerned with better steering geometry through travel than pinion angle, so that is why my upper is shorter.
      I never put anything about my trans mount on video because I don't have one. The aluminum mount cast into my transmission case was broken off the case when I got it from the junkyard. My transmission and transfer case are supported by a mount off the back of the atlas, and it is solid mounted since my engine is solid mounted.

    • @BuildItWheelItExploreIt
      @BuildItWheelItExploreIt Před 2 lety +1

      @@RecklessWrenchGarage thanks for the reply man.
      I have a 94 4 door explorer with 4 link rear 3 link front on 05 SD 1 tons, v8, 4r70w trans and atlas.. so you don't have a trans mount and that would make sense and allow a ton of room... I also have the atlas support mount from TMR... mine being 99% rock crawler/trail and 14" king coil overs on the front I want to be able to use all my travel.. so I gotta go longer on the upper link.
      just saw/watched your last video about what's going on with you guys etc. Good luck with everything

    • @BuildItWheelItExploreIt
      @BuildItWheelItExploreIt Před 2 lety +1

      @@RecklessWrenchGarage those measurements are from center of axle tube to the center of the heims on the frame mount locations?

    • @RecklessWrenchGarage
      @RecklessWrenchGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      No those measurements were just eye to eye on the heims. I don't have the truck readily available right now to get exact measurements.
      Not having a trans mount is a lot less headache and saves room. Usually the trans mount kind of gets in the way of either the front driveshaft or hangs really low. I also have the TMR atlas mount. The three mounting points of my drivetrain has worked good for a long time.

    • @RecklessWrenchGarage
      @RecklessWrenchGarage  Před 4 lety

      If it’s a single bracket, weld both sides of it if it will carry a load.
