What a run! They were in so many bad situations throughout the playoffs down 2-0 against Columbus and down 2-3 against Tampa Bay and they still one. Congrats Caps!
Not to mention losing Wilson to a 3 game suspension. Backstrom missing 4 games with his hand swollen like a balloon. Oshie not practicing once all of the first round against CBJ cause he was banged up. Kuz getting hurt against Vegas (he basically missed the rest of the game, but came back the next one). This run was magical.

There was an article in the LA Times about how it would be hard for any team to replicate the heart of the Caps, and the writer was spot-on. This team was utterly resilient.
- That's what stands out about the Caps' Stanley Cup run, they ran into all sorts of adversity with injuries, players missing from the lineup, down 0-2 in the 1st round vs Columbus - & the prospect of being down 0-3 entering double overtime of Game 3 before Eller's goal won it, finally beating their hated nemesis from Pittsburgh in Round 2, losing 3 straight vs Tampa Bay but still coming back to win it in Games 6 & 7, & even the Cup Final vs Vegas, losing Game 1 and then Holtby coming up with THE save late in Game 2, preventing Vegas from tying the game late & forcing OT...and from then on it was...#ALLCAPS :) It was great watching the Caps throughout the playoffs, finally taking home their 1st Stanley Cup. Well deserved!!

Craig Zveare so very true. Me to. But i did get into caps overtime and caps extra with grant Paulsen and smokin Al koken, who is just as much part of the cup win as any of em.
Craig Zveare bitter sweet win for me. Ecstatic they won the cup, depressed because no more hockey till October. Now its nhl network till then.

Honestly I don't watch NHL at all, but always been Ovi fan, he is one off a kind. Wished him and the Caps since the days I played NHL 08 on pc. When I hear about them winning the trophy I rewatched all the highlights, what a run! Congrats

Tampa was the 2nd easiest team for us, the toughest were Columbus and Pittsburgh

That Stanley Cup final was FAST! it was goal vegas,goal caps back and forth!! I'm a CAPS fan so it was amazing that my team won....vegas was VERY competitive!

I'll say it again as I have watching the entire series. Everyone contributed during games when they needed it. Line 3 and 4. That's never happened in previous runs. They all stepped up. Holtby matured and showed his true skills. Wilson's hit on the penguins player changed the whole pace of the series. Holtbys stick save on Tuck against Vegas changed that whole series. Ovechkins pass to Kuznetsov to win it against the penguins in OT. Kuznetsov was the best thing that could have happened to the capitals. Him and ovechkin have the best chemistry and I wouldn't trade him for the best player in the league... Bc than you take away Ovechkins fire and chemistry that he has with Kuzy.
As a Caps fan, Proud of those men, but the have to keep Backstrom, Ovie, Wilson, and the most important part Kuzzy as their core. You put hockey players around them and they will flourish. I think Kuzzy is our most important part with the new talent, the two new Alexes and the younger players.Kuzzy is key to our future success and he's the player I watch. Not Ovie's replacement but you gotta watch him play because he's just as deadly.

As a wings fan i wanna say karma, tampon bay fans made it to the finals the last two years but couldn’t finishing and win it all but they tried to go up against a team that was hungrier and far and away more deserving and that team did it, after they got past the pens my first thought was, no body is stopping this team, it’s their year

DSP scored some of my favorite goals in caps history on this run. That last one I’d put before many iconic Ovi goals. Dude was so clutch!!
Woulda loved to see Vegas win it all, but I'm glad Ovi finally got his Cup. One of the GOATs, so happy for him

The Capitals had the scariest Power Play in the Playoffs with those 3 one time choices from The Great 8 , Carlson from the point and T.J Oshie in the slot . Just wow so Happy for Ovi and his Capitals .

Going back and watching the pens series with the goals played in succession like this, it’s crazy how much the book was really out on Matt Murray. Shoot high glove at all costs, until he proves he can stop it, which he couldn’t.
Dude, the Knights had SO MANY bad plays in their own zone. I don't know if it was just the Caps being so creative with their passes or the moment getting to Vegas or what, but jesus did they look bad when they were in the Defensive zone.
I'm not a Capitals fan, but they had some great games against Columbus and I wanted them to beat Pittsburgh so bad. I'm so glad they won and can't wait to keep watching them next year

Wow, never realized that Kuznetzov scored the first and last goal of the series vs. the Penguins. I wonder if such a thing has ever happened before in playoff history.
It's always a pleasure to watch this video. Brings back such good memories. Fast forward through the next five seasons and you have one big shit show and a team that failed miserably in remaining competitive. Now we have two more seasons for Ovie to hit the record while the team falls deeper into the black hole.
Someone give Kuzy another bag.. the way he would weave and snipe that year was nuts..

When you hear that cowbell after all of the Caps goals in the Game 4 victory against Columbus I want everyone to know that that is my wife annoying every Blue Jackets fan within 200 feet of us in the rafters. Great memories. What a run. Glad we were there for an important piece of it!
