- SITUATION UPDATE: On 4/3/2023 I called H-D again and discussed (for 36 minutes) the firmware issue of there not being tunes available for the 2023 Road Glide 3 and they said that Tunes will be available later this month (it’s April 3, 2023). I was given reference number 4926202. What’s strange is that the data sheet that explains what tunes are available for the 23.001 firmware update actually shows that there are 4 tunes available however, the exe file listed on their website once loaded does not produce maps in the actual tuning program. Error reads “No Data Available”. The representative tried to keep referring me to the dealership but this isn’t a dealership or mechanic issue. They need to send out another update on: streetperformancetuner.harley-davidson.com because the TunerPCRefresh23.001.8019.exe (192 MB) is no good.
How does the effect you? If you added an air breather or pipes or headers and the bike calibration is not turned you can be damaging your bike. People are saying that the computer in the M8 is smart enough to adjust to small changes such as adding an air breather but it’s simply what people say. I don’t want to pay for it later. So until then my bike is grounded. I have headers and mufflers to add but will have to shelf parts and projected installs until this update is corrected.

I've had my 2016 Slim S (110 motor) for almost 7 years now, did exhaust and air cleaner upgrades only with Dynojet Powervision PV-2B, customer service through FuelMoto. I just bought a 2021 Road king Special late fall of 2021 (kept my Slim S also), and waiting for warranty to expire before adding another powervision license to that bike. I was REALLY considering buying this brand new tuner until I seen your video, now I will wait and see if Harley fixes all of the issues that they have. This will be a really good test for Harley to finally compete in the tuning market. What I really dont like is they do not have a tech support phone number (it only goes to Harley customer service), that is really what they need. Right now they say to call the service dept at your local Harley dealer-----Really, "come on, Man"!! Anyway, if you ever make it to my neck of the woods (central Iowa), look my up Chris. I appreciate it. It’s a good device for factory warranty bikes and this device will be great when it has tunes for every H-D. For now it’s Still missing All Tunes for 23 Road Glide 3. All other bike owners love this. I would have had a love of food to say about it if they simply said or wrote that it’s not available for my bike model so that I wouldn’t have waisted to a man money.
Ordered the same pipes and I take in Chrome. Thought my dealer could tune it when im done but I'll be making sure they are aware.
I saw your video 15 minutes after I ordered this tuner for my 23 Road Glide. I was shittin bricks if im being honest. Just got in from the garage and I had zero issues. Talked to my dealer earlier and I was told it was a trike issue. Harley is taking their sweet time getting the trike maps up. Best of luck to you man. I will say theres light at the end of the tunnel. The tuner is pretty sweet. Stick in there.
That’s good news. Sorry to have had you thinking about that. Yes. It’s a Road Glide 3 issue. The tuner is very convenient and I love the way it connects via Bluetooth. I am still able to use the other features other than Tuning. I have been able to use it to monitor the trike while I ride as well as use the digital gauges. I have also been able to record and save Data. I will make another video update with my new thoughts. Still no calibration tune data files. They listed that 4 are available but maybe they removed them.
I feel for you.... HD should not have sucky products especially when they know about it...... Thanx for the info as I am not getting one now..

I bought the Tuner for my 23 Ultra Limited, hooked it up, it did a software update, gave me several program options, I loaded the appropriate Stage 1 tune and WOW did it wake up my bike! Love it!
I’m looking forward for HD to release Data for the 23 Road Glide 3. Still none yet. Seems like it will be way better than the previous non Bluetooth model. I use mine now for the digital gauge display on my phone and the data recorder feature. Just no tune date yet for Trikes. Thousands of others waiting and they aren’t concerned about putting the update out.
I put one in my 23 RG last night. When you unplug connector from bike, take off that clip that the plug was hooked to then use the velcrow to put it back in the same place
Thanks. I understand the Velcro option to store the device. The issue is that you can install yes but tune no. There are no data file configurations to install configuration maps on the RG-3. They aren’t available yet. The other automatic tune feature with not work without a base map data file from a screaming Eagle.
Chris, bought this tuner for my stage 1 upgrade to my '22 Ultra Limited. Had lots of your same issues. I then ended up having available maps for my bike, but..... when trying to program the bike with the app it would crash as soon as you press "program". So I used my y cable on the laptop and was given a low pc battery warning when trying to program thru the laptop. Took it to my local dealer and they had the same issues I did. We finally were given a solution from harley-davidson. They said the warning goes away if you charge and maintain 12.8 volts or higher while programming... keep in mind most trickle chargers or battery tenders only charge to 12.5 to 12.8. So we had to connect an actual jump pack at 14v to successfully program my bike. 🤦 Hope my struggles help you when they actually make maps available for your Trike. Best of luck. BTW the tune works great once it's done.
Amazing. This is excellent information. I really appreciate it and I hope that others will read this thread and use your insight and information. Eventually I will make and update video and I will mention this issue and reference you specifically for sharing this information. I am checking for an application update daily and nothing. They did remove the 23 trikes off the list of maps available within the new update firmware so that means now they are aware of the issue. Now I’m wondering how good the map will be when it finally comes out considering HD is fully pro EPA compliant. Not sure if new map will proper run for me. With slip on’s and breather should be great. Just hoping for greatness for Headers, heavy breather and mufflers.
Did the program permit you to make manual adjustments? What’s available after you download the map configuration data?
Yes, manual programming is possible thru the toolbox feature. I was told by HD corporate they are working to correct the issues with the app and the tuner's firmware.

It’s good that we are all communicating with each other about what we find out from our individual contacts with H-D but I’m disappointed that they haven’t put out a statement or at least one sentence on the parts page or notification to customers how purchased the part. They sent me a return shipping label to return the part but then I would need to purchase again later once tune comes out. So I’ve been holding on to it in hopes that a data file is released. I am able to enjoy the visual features that you can leave on showing data while you ride.
Chris I ordered the haze gray rg3 on march 3rd I live in Indianapolis and had to order it blind due to no dealers here having one to even look at, I’ve been following your updates and Donnie’s and I think this is a important issue that I’m closely watching since I’ve been thinking of stage2 when the bike arrives I’m 4 weeks waiting and haven’t seen the rg3 in person, thanks for sharing and please update on this issue. I certainly will. I appreciate you for commenting. I will continue to call HD and check on this issue. This happened with my other Road Glide and has costed me thousands in money and months of shop time. There were now SE tunes for my 131 stage 4 upgraded with an air breather, headers, and mufflers. It distorted things and was covered many times under warranty. I was then told by a dealership that I would absolutely have to do a custom dyno and technology research tuner so for $1400 later with parts and the dyno I did the work. Then only to find out the bike was drinking oil based on bad valve seals. Only 4,700 miles and several warranty repairs. So another $1911.24 to repair valve seals and I have the bike back. I’m afraid to take the bike on the road for long trips since I listened to the dealership and allowed them to install a custom dyno tune my warranty is voided. So here I am with another new HD and facing same issues all over again. I will not ride it even with just the air breather changed and risk riding it not tuned. Nope. Cost me way too much
What buyers need to understand is that HD only cares about getting your money. They develop these engines and back off their potential with the hopes that you later buy what they should have given you in the first place. Honda gave you 100% when you bought your Wing. Took me 20 years to get it, but I'm done with HD, and my new DCT Wing got footboards, drink holder, Android auto dongle, and I'm looking for a backup camera. It's done and far better than any Harley.

First time I have seen your you tube. Take this for what it is worth. I am a Trike rider Harly only. I have two HD a 2019 TG and a low rider Cholo softail. Put the 131 in the trike and have over 10,000 miles on it. Going to put the 135 in the RG3. If you want the best fuction out of you bikes do not contact HD. If you give them your bike numbers they void your warranty if they think you are attempting to up the profermance with out going to dealer. Good luck brother stay safe.
Oh wow. Yes. good point. I agree with you on that. As far as your low rider Cholo Softail that sounds like my kinda ride. I am awaiting for someone to come out with a longer rear fender for my 22 lowrider S. I hate my rear fender and I would like to turn it into a Cholo Style Softail.

The tuners other than HD will void your warranty. This issue is specific to the 23 Road Glide 3 and will just be a temporary issue until they load the mapping data. The device works but will not load tunes that are unavailable. Works for other model HD’s great

Tune maps are now available for 2023 Trikes. My service engine light stayed on and showed various codes after intallation. I checked the codes and none seemed valid. I reset and cleared the codes. Bike seems to run well and so far the codes haven't returned. I have Tab slip on's and SE Air Cleaner.
Wow. Thank you for the feedback. On my new video several are complaining of it crashing or no tunes available. Do you have the 23 Trike or Road Glide 3 model? It works or doesn’t work based on your model.
got mine for stage 1. Plugged it in, updated firmware and loaded the appropriate tune. Easy peasy. It did lose bluetooth connection once. I just went to the bluetooth button and clicked on pair. It paired right up. If you have issues with this tuner, it is definitely user errors.
I understand how to do it. There is no map or tune for that model motorcycle made yet. I explained in the video that it’s not for all models. Sorry that you overlooked that part. The tuner is great but not for the models that claimed they work for and there are no maps until July 14th. I’ve been doing this for many years my friend.

As right now it is garbage, I. plugged mine in today coming home from tuner, and the green led doesn't flash. Not sure if it's the bike a 24 RG. Or the Tuner needs a firmware upgrade??

Bought one for my 22 fatboy. It will not update firmware on initial setup. It pIrs and all, but starts update, then fails. Harley won't tell me anything, just bring it to a dealer. The whole reason i bought it was so I didn't have to spend more money.put my new pipes on, now can't even ride for fear of messing up my bike
I understand your frustration. I’m still waiting on an update. They say July 14. If you haven’t already update your phone to the newest update. Restart your phone. Have good internet connection. Have your bike on a battery tender and fully charged or charging. Follow steps exactly on the screen in same order. If that fails used a laptop and the connection cord. Agreed, I'm having all the same issues with my 22 SGS. Just terrible planning and execution.
I’ve been in communication with them very recently via telephone. We should see a stage 1 and base level calibrations soon. Stage 2 calibrations can be as late or no later than July. They are also experiencing backordered pairs on test and research cycles needed to do research to develop these tunes. They have to build out a machine the same way that we do and us it for these calibration dyno test for mapping and research and performance test. With the new bikes they are having supply and order backup issue to build these new bikes out to rest with the different aftermarket parts for performance testing.

@Chris Glides & Lowrides just an FYI I called harley tech assist. My bike turned out to California emissions. That requires a special harley tuner for California models and min stage 2 upgrade. So I traded into a new 23 w/o California emissions. Will try programming tomorrow.

After 46 min on the phone with HD they sent me a return shipping label but I will need the tuner part again real soon as I have headers and slips on’s to install. I sure hope H-D sends out a new update very soon. The newest update I. The description says that there are stage 1 maps for the RG3 for stage 1 but nothing is actually listed even with the software update. It reads that the current software on device is current. I Wish they were like dyno jet power commander and could just email me the map file based on parts installed.

I bought a 2023 Trike Anniversary and added a Stage 2 to it as part of the purchase. The latest I heard is that the time for the new flash went from March, delayed to April, and now it is estimated at July/August. I will have almost 7 months of a bike parked in my garage (I had it trailer home so at least I can put some part upgrades on it while I wait) but totally unusable. 7 months of wasted warranty.
@@charleslampa-fi6cn UPDATE: That absolutely sucks!!! I hate that if we go with another tuner that it voids warranty. But from experience on another bike (21 RG limited) the screaming Eagle tuner wasn’t doing it for me with the 131 stage 4 and headers, pipes and breather, and it stayed in the shop but was under warranty but it spent total 9 months or more back and forth in the shop. So finally I had to go with a tuner that works for the set up I have. It voided warranty but it will now stop messing engines up and not be in the shop. So it’s either down time and in the shop for months with slow warranty approvals and delays. Or have it working correctly and riding good until your warranty expires anyway. You may add a custom non factory tune and May not ever have to use the warranty but most likely will have to use the warranty with the approved parts. I will never do any engine opening or upgrading again until after my warranty is already expired. It’s so many people that have issues after they open the engine and add parts that it’s just not worth the small gains for me. I decided if I need speed or power I will buy a sports bike or a Goldwing. Harley are meant to cruise and not race. Well some are but ……. Just a rant of disappointment. I called 4 dealerships yesterday and they said that they get the firmware data tunes from the same place we do from the performance tune screaming Eagle site, so if they aren’t available then they can’t do anything either. When I talked to HD customer service again yesterday they said that testing must be done at their facility and then sent out. (After volunteering must motorcycle as a test bike) They have to create an EPA complaint calibration. I’m not waiting 2 or 7 months if that’s the case. I will end up going with power vision or a custom tune with Techno Research.
Did you try leaving it installed and riding it for an hr to record your own tune yet? If so what results did you have….?
Yes. I did that a few times before I added the headers. I keep the tuner plugged in and used the digital display features. I do like the new features of this Bluetooth tuner. It’s going to be amazing whenever Screaming Eagle Performance releases the new data configurations map tune files. Did everything correctly. It’s correct that there are no tunes yet for some models. No testing has been conducted yet to save successful and approved data files based on supply chain issues and backordered parts for test bikes. I spoke to Brian from HD for about 40 minutes. Mentioned that July is worst case for stage 2 data files. Stage one base tunes can be available any day now. Once there is a base tune calibrated then you can use many features and auto configurations or manually load.
I have not thrown any error codes or lights the entire process. Haven’t rode it with headers at all and have only started it for the video for sound. With air breather and slip on’s no code errors and the Milwaukee 8 engine and electronics can safely auto adjust basic air/Fuel changes.
There is no such thing as gravity... Harley corporate sucks.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I’m learning experience by experience. I’m hearing good things about power vision tuners and some others. Not sure what other company will have a configuration for this bike either. I certainly know that I can take to HD of Quantico and get a custom dyno tune with a Techno Research Tuner but that’s going to cost the $350 or so for tuner. Can’t remember. Then $1000 for the dyno and tune. It’s not worth it for me for the few parts that I’m installing such as breather, header, and slip on’s. Now if I put the 135 CI crate on with my breather, headers and pipe I will certainly get the custom dyno. Hmmm 🤔 now you got me thinking about putting a 135 crate engine on it.

For example: my 15 ultra has 27k miles i have replaced OEM Harley compensator 2x. I went with the war horse model it has life time warranty, Noise and clunky shift issue all gone. Stage 2x cam set used is S&S 580 and reinhart full exhaust. Also Dyno tuned. my point is everything used is not Harley OEM. Bike runs like a new model. There is no reason the sales person just took your money with out first telling you it was not going to work.

No. I sold the bike since then and keep in contact with the new owner. He took it into HD service at his dealership and they knew way less than him and they couldn’t tune it at his dealership. I had a return shipping label and return code from HD months ago. I gave it to the new owner and suggested that he return it. The other issue is that there is a sequence to unpair the device to use on another phone. We tried it several times and it will not unpair from my phone to allow him to pair to his. So don’t lose or upgrade your phone with this device or you will need the cable to connect it to your laptop. This is nutz.

@@donalddavis7160 There are a few who have gotten it to work somehow. It works on other model bikes but not sure why it’s a problem. I love the concept. I’m thinking use the cable to update and upload tune and use the phone’s Bluetooth features after it’s loaded was what I was hoping for.

@@donalddavis7160 Yes I may work and work excellent. It just wouldn’t work well with my 2023 Road Glide 3 because the bike was new and HD was still testing to get the calibrations. They gave me a return label for a refund but I wanted it to work more than my money back. Great concept. The features that it partially allowed I thought were very cool to see on screen on my phone and see and clear codes. Buy only through the HD online store and it will be a lot easier to return with a customer service call.

Sorry. Here is what I’m learning. On my other thread one person got theirs to work @covertopsgroup528. Others are reporting that map are Still not there and saying that This 1.10 version is a bug fix and not a tune add on as it claims in the “what’s new” section. It sucks because it’s the only tuner that is compliant with HD warranty. Please call and email SE Performance and complain and complain on the HD parts website feedback and here on CZcams. They verbally talked with me and promised changes by the 14th of July. I have been dealing with this and these promises and problems since Feb/March.

I normally don’t put companies on blast but this has literally costed customers tons of money combined. Especially if you’ve take to dealership to do for nothing. HD SE Performance should be held accountable for all that people have waisted on time and money lost regarding this. For several months now they falsely advertised that product to fully work and it hasn’t. I ended up losing the love for my bike and sold it after putting over $10k in parts and shop time in it only to sell it for my balance owed with 714 miles on it. If it’s not fully functional by 14th a class action lawsuit should be brought against them.
Chris, I have been riding HD since 1976, my advice to you is to save your money. Tuners that you get now have to be EPA compliant. Since day one Harley Tuners have been CRAP. Any tuner that you connect to your bike now will remain locked to the bike. When you take it in for anything Harley will hook up the DigitTech and see it and void your warranty. Thank God that I have a 2012 FLHTK with a Master Tune. I think that you are SOL. Remember this, Harley don't give 2 Sh_ts about the people that buys their crap. Ride that GW that I see over there and forget about Harley helping you. They just want you money. I'll never purchase another again..
You are absolutely correct. My 21 Road Glide with 131 has a voided warranty based on a dealership installed professional tune. The screaming Eagle Tuner would not properly map bike and I’ve gone through $6k-$8k in various repairs. The dealership installed a custom tune by Technology Research and it now runs better. Was burning tons of oil from old bad Screaming Eagle Tune and I had to replace the valve seals for a total of another $1911.24 and this is after paying $1,000 for a dyno. This made me buy the Goldwing. My HD’s are nice but I can’t rely on them without a concern or worry. I’m on 8th Harley and spent enough to buy a house.
