That N word was not invented as a nice hello, it was invented to oppress, degrade, demean, belittle and crush the very essence of poc’s. We haven’t reclaimed the N word as something positive when it’s still used by us and other ethnicities as a means to tare black people and those who identify as black down and look at them as less than. And, in this current climate where the very head of state believes we are that, it’s even more important to consign the N word to history. Our forefathers and mothers weren’t bound in chains and whipped like animals and called that word for us to turn around and use it in the same connotation to which it was intended.
I respect people have their opinions on the use of it, I do. But if there has been any time when those who use the N word have used it to cuss someone out, you’re perpetuating the exact same connotation that word was invented for towards those who we should be standing side by side with to fight discrimination, prejudice and racism, not just for ourselves, but all POC’s.
