Based on real events story of a marriage couple; James and Janet Marston who having discovered not to be able to have more children, started adopting them. The result was a branch up to sixteen kids, often sick, disabled and problematic. Unfortunatelly the Marston's neighbours didn't like it...
Great story, especially since it is based on a true story. There is another untold true story. When I lived in Germany, members of our church were friends with members of a church in the Ukraine, back in the 90's. I personally met several of them and what a blessing they were. One young couple in particular had three children of their own but they had a burden for children left behind in orphanages. Long story short, they adopted 27 children! The state gave them a building, an old sort of a warehouse. Our pastor bought a 7 ton truck in Germany and our members filled the truck with materials they needed to turn the building into a home for these children. Several of our young men drove to the Ukraine several times a year to help. There is a lot more to this story, but I just wanted you all to know that there are actually more people like the Marston's. I cherish those memories!

Finally found this film as an adult watched it when i was a kid before i was rescued into foster care at 11... i only saw it once and as i was badly abused i remember wishing they would come and get me just whisk me away to a place of safety and love.❤
Similar experience myself regarding wanting to be rescued by these people….I hope you have found safety and love as an adult as I have ❤

So true. Many people now see children , who are in the image of God, as a nuisance. We are supposed to love people and use things, but so many choose to love things and use people.

We live in a remote area and a noisy family moved in down the valley and their horrible kids would come up screaming and yelling scaring the animals and generally being typical city brats.. they were banned from everywhere in the end and they were forced to move away thank god

This was based on a true story which makes it remarkable! Adopting 60 kids?!?! I can’t imagine. I hope the lady of the house had help! This story so touched my heart. Gee even the old hag , the judge came around at the end lol and that says a lot. Thank the good Lord Jesus for people who have this kind of love for children who were forgotten. 🕊️🤍

I believe some parents would beg to differ with you. That little girl had deep rooted problems they didn't ask about, a danger to her sons, many parents have died by the hands of their children.
This movie just came to me 37yrs after it's production, everything comes in it's own time, it's a heartwarming movie and a must to see. Thank you God for making the unfortunate,, fortunate, and giving adults your compassion to make it possible, for through you everything is possible!! Amen.

Yes it is heartwarming. All I could say was, Wow, to a couple with hearts of gold, very willing to adopt any race, or handicapped, or disabled. If all os us, had similiar attitudes, I can imagine the beauty you would see, in this world. Those are the kind of hearts God looks down on, and is pleased with.

I just love how the events were unfolding, at the time of the search for Ricky. Because I just knew when they found him, he would tell why he ran away, and it wasn't for a test, and the teached would see he advanced in math, and the court would dismiss the case. It was just something telling me that nothing but good was coming to that couple, because of their heart.

Absolutely.I also used to work in care ,with disabled children with carying needs.I was also fortunate to be adopted as a small child by the two most wonderful parents anyone could wish for.If only there were more people in the world like these people.x

I am not a religious man but it often feels like things happen for a reason. Those poor parents losing their baby open up the chance for so many children to finally find a loving home.
I have so much respect for those who decide to adopt children. Loving and raising a child as your own is one of the most beautiful things a person can do

Excellent many families when I grew up in church adopted alot of kids or fostered them then adopted. My husbands family adopted two of the six they raised as foster children. To them that was just paperwork. All the family was treated the same. Wonderful family.

What a beautiful story. You always have 1 busy body to cause trouble but what those busy bodies don't realize is God doesn't like those who gossip and do not love his children.

You should have warned me that we needed Kleenex to watch this movie. Absolutely beautiful. The way a family can open their hearts to all different kinds of children knowing that they are special in their own ways. It's also very sad that neighbors and others are so judgmental. Instead they should be honoring and helping those people who are making society a better place.

It was also very good that the children had very much the same age. How good to find a judge with heart! If you listen real hard you will hear the lady say they adopted 60 kids not 16. God bless them all, After the death of our own 3 special needs children, we have also fostered and adopted 3 children including colored and love them all the same along with my 1 miracle biological child being the youngest. This was also in the 1970's -80s We would have adopted more but were quite poor and always rented. No help from those close or around us. Was a difficult journey but the Lord God was with us. Bless them all.

Y'all did a beautiful thing but you really shouldn't have said colored that sounds terrible . If you didn't care about race then color wouldn't have been mentioned like this couple didn't never mention the race of the child . You could have said you adopted and didn't care what race . But I adopt as well and I have 6 and I didn't care what race just who I feel when I go to the center seeing the kids interact .
"colored" ...that's an outdated and offensive term. You didn't do any special favors to the black race by adopting a child OF COLOR (not "colored," as you put it), but realize it was a blessing for God to have entrusted you with any child for their care. Take care.

I saw this once before,but I didn t see it in it s entirety ,due to a lack of time. I m now seeing it for what I missed and had no idea the children were adopted from the same children s homes
There s great deal of difference when one sees the details of a new brother not just friends after being schooled together with the original core family. I never experienced fostering or adopting other children outside my core family. I had only one set of parents and my mom and dad created us. I knew just my siblings. This union was new to me and I couldn t vision life starting with other children not born to our parents. We knew each other from birth. I can t say if I understand the logic of this family after the couple planned and lost their daughter from birth. Our connection is still a bond. How would I have accepted these foreign children? I don t understand children that lost their parents or ones who landed in institutions. I was the eldest daughter raised with four brothers,who I became a "tomboy",as I learned all guys things and went on trailing them. When my sisters were born they took my space and I had to take care of my sister's and two younger brothers. We had each other. We had a dad who worked hard at his job to supply us untill I got to be mine years old. I was made to work at the age of 9 years then mom got a job and it was my job to take care of the housekeeping taught to me by my mom. It d be hard to accept someone not related to us.We took care of each other. 🧀🎊 By no

This woman has OCD about adopting kids, regardless of how hard her husband has to work and the feelings of her own children.

A beautiful touching story that is based on a true story. T adopted children were so lucky. Today it would be so expensive to raise such a large number of children. The father in the story said after visiting the foster home that each child deserves a chance, deserves to be loved, and to know what it is like to be part of a family. I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did.

I think they did, in fact, take on more than they should have or could. Because even with a good heart, having more kids than you can handle especially with any disabilities, it's a lot. They should not have been left unattended in the hands of boys that were barely preteen themselves. And then, show up to court, while their child is missing. " a little love and understanding" is not what brings up the child. I think they had a lot of well meant intentions, though. I'm thankful Ricky was okay. I'm thankful the familys situation ended in a good light. Every child needs a home. Parenting is not easy.

an incredible story. The love between the couple and the love they shared with their adopted children is no less then God's miracle of how love can never be exhausted. I have thought of adopting children many times but i wiould not embark on this endeavor without a great partner and i don't have one. I was a victim of the foster care system and it was traumatic for me and my other 3 siblings. I know first hand how it feels to be abandoned, neglected and unwanted. God bless those who adopt. tku

There was a family at our church who adopted over 20 children. All with special needs, and realistically not children anyone would want to adopt even one of them. Many of these had serious medical issues. I remember they went to being applauded for taking in these children, to being taken to court because they were thought to have too many children. Isn’t it better to be in a real family?

Awesome, caring, loving movie - How anyone (69 people) could give it a thumbs down (as shown above) is beyond my comprehension.
I think it's being realistic. Affording 16 kids is an improbable situation even for Gates or Tesla. 12 is still possible.
Dislikes are because of the movie not being true. Family abused kids, had over 80 and several died. And jail sentence was a joke. Family lived in Sisters, Or.

I could only have the one due to hereditary conditions!!!! I KNOW exactly how this woman feels!! I’m a middle aged single woman with a deep dull heartache that NEVER goes away. Knowing that I’ll NEVER have a newborn baby again is more than this heart can bear. We were created to be married, and to go forth and multiply. It’s an overwhelming longing that only another woman who cannot have as many children as she longs for, could possibly understand ……….

I am so happy that the states began revognizing that all children including the special needs children need love and a home filled with lots of love and hugs so that they can become productive citizens in our society,and in the 80s they were seeing this need and it was more children through foster care and adoption program,each one reach one through all the churches in community its a success and still going strong,with God all things are possible when you only believe and trust,this is what love is about,thank you Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!
