Foe those who don’t know Lara , Here are again some info on her ( this disappeared when the Premiere was uploaded):
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... We can debate her rank in this list (in my personal view she tops these) but she is there.
There are also a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
‱ she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
‱ she is an amazing song writer and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-compose the music with the composer.
‱ she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
‱ she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 if I remember well (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the 2 songs Anna reviewed are from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban,

With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she wrote and performed originally).
Out of my mind I can list:
    ‱ Adagio,
    ‱ Mademoiselle Hyde,
    ‱ Know,
    ‱ Love of tired swans,
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva)
And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina.
This is a song that she wrote with Igor Krutoy and performed initially with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    ‱ Floor Jansen (Adagio)
‱ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime)
‱ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie)
    ‱ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow)
‱ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace)
    ‱ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow)
    ‱ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow)
‱ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade)
    ‱ ....
Today , she is 52 yo but she his still singing with her resonant belts, her magnificent tone, her stage presence, her artistry, her commitments to lyrics, story and emotions.
She has used her vocal skills to work around the impact of ageing on her voice.
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.

Hi Anna , i was impatient to see your reaction to this one
Great reaction, you really highlighted somz of the key moments and discovered a bit more the insake vocal skills of Lara, that she always use for a single purpose : conveying a story and the emotions that come with it.
    A few comments:
    - she not only sing in english but she also wrote the lyrics of this song, and if you hear her speaking in english, she seems to be US native. As i already told you she is fluent in 4 languages and sang in 12
    - her last note with the final vibrato is an artistic choice: would be interesting to guess why she did that. If you review « You are not from there », you will see that she has amazing breath control and sustain a high belt with modulation to a higher note for more than 20s.
So this final vibrato was not a result of technical difficulties but an artistic choice.
And it reminds me the final note she makes on the Yentl medley when she covers live Papa can you hear me and A piece of sky in sequence. You believe she has no breath anymore but she can sustain way longer and just decide to expose some weakness from her character. This is acting, not failing.
    - i like this original more than the covers made for instance by floor and dimash for a few reasons : more attention to coloring words with emotion, more respect to the original classic piece, a better song build-up ( starts slow and step-by-step increase to the final climax) where everything remains connected and tied together. And the passion in the final climax section is unmatched.

Wanting to watch reaction videos, (because of course, I then became obsessed with her performance) that is when I discovered your channel. You do a wonderful job of explaining the technical aspects of the performance. You also have a lovely singing voice. Even though I only speak English, I love your videos. Your language is fascinating. Excuse my ignorance. Are you speaking Finish? I googled your countries language (😆) and it said your country also speaks Swedish.

5:15 buckle up! The passion is not actually for a traditional love story, but for her passion for songwriting and story telling. Where the "man", Adagio, is the god of inspiration, who is under her skin, who she waits for, who she is saying she has faith in to come to her when the time is right to compose, she will be waiting at her piano. It is a love song to the powers of inspiration begging them to never abandon her, to never stop believing in her, because it is what all her dreams revolve around. "Don't let this light fade away! Don't let me run out of faith!" This is the depth of passion she has, and still has, to write and compose songs. This is why no cover artist can ever touch her performance, imo, of this song. I'm so happy you have finally come back to our amazing Lara! Your reaction and analysis are top notch! Next up should be Caruso for Italian! 💜

Hi, Anna. It's Gregory here again! It always causes me much joy just watching you react to songs. You are, as you rightly should be, always totally engrossed in what you do - reacting to an artist. How else would you be able to break down so precisely and easily the different aspects of a song? I don't know if anyone has told you yet that you have a master amidst many vocal coaches,...not that I put them down at all. It's just that go way beyond what I think is generally required. The reason is that many of them, I feel, give just the bare minimum while knowing that she/he is capable of of given much more.
You, on the hand, give as much information as you can at any given time and it is to be noted and appreciated. Maybe this also the reason, I picked up, that people watching your reaction videos give back (to YOU) so much more information about the various artists you are reacting to.

You may also wish to react to a young artist on a very similar path as Lara. She’s a 21-year-old Moroccan born, Canadian singer/songwriter named Faouzia. Her “stripped” songs, with minimum accompaniment, best showcase her vocal talents. “Tears of Gold (Stripped)” is a good starting point.

      @ConradMacMillan Pƙed 2 lety +1

@@ericsicard910 Gee, I thought I was the only one who thought so. There are many similarities despite the 30 year age difference. Lara was the same age as Faouzia is now when she first came to Canada in 1991 seeking "Pop" success in North America. Faouzia studied piano for 11 years and is now pursuing a computer engineering degree. Lara studied singing, piano and composing for 10 years... but not engineering 😁. Both had success in local and international talent competitions early on. Like Lara, Faouzia prefers classical music to pop and it shows in their songwriting. It also contributes to their rather cinematic stage presence. Both write intensely personal lyrics... often sad or dark and each considers themselves a songwriter first. Like Lara, Faouzia has cultivated a large non-North American fanbase. Faouzia has leveraged social media to cultivate an audience. Meanwhile, Lara did it the old fashioned way, by touring and recording.
I hope Faouzia has better luck with the music business hierarchy than did Lara. Only time will tell.
Oh, and I almost forgot... they're both classically beautiful!

    • @ericsicard910
      @ericsicard910 Pƙed 2 lety +2

@@ConradMacMillan Yes, you said most of it. I discovered Faouzia recently and explored her background. The comparison with Lara came to my mind immediately.
I am not talking about their singing, they have very different voices and ways of interpreting a story. I am talking of all the rest which is making them a total package.
You named quite a few of these but the most important for me is that both are songwriters first, and it show a lot in the way they tell the story on stage. Lara and Faouzia there are well above Celine, Mariah and Whitney, or many of the new generation.
I would add also their multilingual skills, especially their ability to sing and write songs in english and french.
And also I did listen to some faouzia interviews or some interactions with her fans: she definitely share with Lara a grounded, humble, benevolent, empathic personality.
There are some differences however: Faouzia has this arabic heritage that can be seen in some of her insane runs, that she execute in a more oriental way.
Faouzia is from the new generation and is completely at ease with social networks and the new way to communicate. Lara isn't at all, she is at ease with face to face encounters, not with social networks.
I do not fear that Faouzia would be facing the same issues with the music business hierarchy: since the early 2000s when Lara faced the issues we know, this hierarchy has lot her grip on the music production and the artists career making. The path to fame is now more thru the social networks and bypass them. Faouzia is already a star in these, and they cannot have any bad influence about it. They are following
      Couple final side notes:
      - I did know that Faouzia is pursuing Computer Engineering studies in Winnipeg and this amazed me. I am graduated as a Computer engineer myself and I know how demanding it is to complete these studies. It amazed me and I am in full admiration of her ability to balance her studies with her music career. And her creativity to reuse these studies in her songs such as with "Exothermic". Also it tells a lot on her personality again, this is another proof that fame won't change her in a bad way ...
      - Before discovering Faouzia, there was another singer which I often used to compare with Lara. Her name is Tina Arena and she is from the same generation as Lara. But my message is now too long, so I won't tell here why I also have this comparizon in mind

    • @ConradMacMillan
      @ConradMacMillan Pƙed 2 lety +1

@@ericsicard910 All good points and exactly right, especially the distinct differences in their voices and the fact they're both polyglots, which I neglected to mention. I stumbled upon Faouzia late in 2020 and it was a music reactor who first drew the comparison to Lara for me. That's when I discovered the joy that is Lara Fabian.
      {OPEN RANT}
I hope you are correct about the waning influence producers have in music careers, but I fear not. In North America at least, the business still treats artists like "meat puppets". Songs are pitched and pocketed to the extent that the performer simply seems like another switch on a synth or sampler that the producer plays. Tools like autotune and quantizers have their place, but overuse strips the heart and soul from the music that Faouzia makes, and Lara seems careful to avoid. Faouzia's recent releases are all over-processed, even her most recent release "Puppet", interestingly enough. That's why her "stripped" versions are so popular.
      {CLOSE RANT}
In the end, I just wanted to bring Faouzia to Anna's attention through her appreciation of Lara Fabian. Kinda the reverse of what someone once did for me. Besides, I feel like Anna and Faouzia are also on similar paths.

    • @ericsicard910
      @ericsicard910 Pƙed 2 lety +2

      @@ConradMacMillan a couple points I forgot:
      - in common Lara and Faouzia also have the fact they both are natural born singers blessed by a god gift. Lara said she was able to replicate exactly a very difficult melody from a french soprano called Eve Brenner ehen she was only 5 yo.
      - But the difference is that Lara was trained classically from 8 to 18 while my understanding is that Faouzia never got a single vocal training session in her life. Just Piano and some other instruments lessons.
And honestly I see this sometimes in her performances (IMHO she could improve a bit on her breath management). The voice skills that Faouzia has without any training remains mindblowing nevertheless.

I know in my heart Floor Jansen is as much a Lara Fabian fan as the other fans of her. "Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert (born January 9, 1970), better known as Lara Fabian, is a Canadian-Belgian singer, songwriter, musician, actress and producer. She has sold over 30 million records worldwide as of 2021[1][2][3] and is one of the best-selling Belgian artists of all time.[4] She was born in Etterbeek, Brussels to a Belgian father and a Sicilian mother. She lived the first part of her childhood in Sicily, in Catania; speaking Italian as her first language. She moved to Quebec in 1991 and since 1995, she has held Canadian citizenship alongside her Belgian citizenship.[5] In 2003, she returned to Brussels to be close to her parents in Belgium and lived in 2015 in Walloon Brabant province in Belgium just outside Brussels.[6][7] In the second half of 2017, she returned permanently to Montreal, Quebec, to be with her family.[8]"

Great reaction and entertaining analysis!! About last vibrato, I think that she chose to start with vibrato, then straight and back to vibrato, to have an "echo effect" of the last call of adagio. To emphasize her desperation and her passion for that man. For the same reason she took a last breath and then released it at the end of the song. Interpretation of the song and her will to deliver song's message are far more important to her

Every performance from this show, From Lara With Love, is fire, but I especially love You're Not From Here and I would also recommend a duet she did in 98 with Johnny Haliday at the France Stadium with a full orchestra & choir of the song Requiem Pour Un Fou, see below link.

she fluent in 4 languages (Italian, French, English and Spanish), and sing in almost 12 languages, if i'm not wrong... I heard her, in a interview, that when she create a song, she choose the language, depending on the song.

I so enjoy a really technical analysis of what the singer is doing, Anna, thank you! I am not a singer, but a very experienced trombonist, so I understand and appreciate the technical intricacies that make a truly outstanding performance. About that last note, I wonder if she was about to lose the note. I have had that experience more times than I would like, where I hit the note, but I am not set up right. I can sustain the note but the sound quality is not what I want, and the opportunity for vibrato or other inflection seems risky. For the moment, you just sustain, and if you recover a bit, then you can now add vibrato, crescendo, etc. Most listeners say, "The last note was fantastic." And I am thinking, "That last note just about killed me. It almost came apart completely." But I say, "Thank you so much!"

    I love Lara!
If you wanna discover worlds best singer and also loving Lara and MJ and dose this song too? I can say if you dont know Dimash Qudaibergen you have missed a lott and you have so mutch to try explain to us al of what the heck he is doing and HOW he can do it !!!
If you think Laras version is emotional you have to react to Dimash version!!!
He is a 28 year young artist from Kazakhstan and when he was 22 he was invited to the competion "Singer" in 2017 from China!!! That competion is a invite onley and just well known Chinese singers competing with each other. This season was both the youngest ever and the oldest in!!! Dimash wasent known at al!!!
He sings in over 7 oktaves and the highest higher then the piano can go!!! Also sings in 14
languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
He playes a bunch of instruments at least 7 of what we know of, composes and doctors in music!!
Well thats just a little bit of him. I can tell you you gonna be woundering how and what!!! Maby you gett "Dimashified...some things about that is youre gonna loose words and just woundering WHAT?! HOW?! After these 2 years or so away from the stage he has gotten so mutch better and we couldent think he could be better!!! He alwayes suprises us and does every music style you ever can think of and if he hasent done them jet he probebley do at some point in his own whay.
He cal his fans "Dears" becouse he think of us as a dera family member!! He is also the most respectfull humble and loving humen you gonna know!!! Every show he thanks everyone that hade something to do with his shows! When he wins prices he thanks every one that been in his life and also al his Dears. He thank us becouse he acnolige that it us that makes him big and well known. He love children and help them if he can he also take some on the stage during the consert. In 1 competion in USA he had to compete against 2 children and if he had known he haddent been in that competion becouse he sayes children and adults cant bee competing against eatch outher!!! So he walkd away in the final when he learnt that it was 2 children and 1 of them he alreddy supported becouse she was from Kazakhstan!!! He walkd away from 1 million dollars!! (This show was started becouse of Dimash and its "The world best" however they treated him awful and lied to him a lot and they shooped upp the songs so mutch when it aired on TV that they cant be recogniced!! So please dont do any of there videos! They diddent come back for season 2 becouse of there stupiditi and ou Dears complaint about there treatment of Dimash and the outher artist.) He respects elders so mutch.
He gives a lot to chariteys and we Dears are also doing that. He inspiers us al. 1 thing he dosent wanna hear including that he is the best is that he heals people with his singing!! But he does. He brought me back from so neer death just when I found him! I got really sick and the first 3 dayes al I can remember is his voice! Acording to the doctors I shouldent be living know. 1 outher woman I know about was sick in cancer and shouldent have lived long...she took her last strength and whent to Kazakhstan with help on the whay wherre to go and do. Dimash meet her and invited her home to him and his familey!!
Well you see its not JUST about his singing but everything adding upp to the best human and singerr I ever heard of and probebley never gonna find someone els in my life time. The biggest song choches in the world are jusing Dimash as an exemple on what a human voice can do if right trained and Diamsh has been in music school seens he was 5 years old!! Also still learning.
Here are some links for you from the competion Singer from China!! By the way the day after the first episode the Chinese people called him "Imported little brother" and they hade to higher bodyguards for him!!!
Episode 1 : 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' (A Soul's Plea For Help) In French.
    czcams.com/video/cCwiZdFz63w/video.html
Episode 2 :'Opera 2' in Russian! The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just
after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

    czcams.com/video/Ufj0E6UxKa0/video.html
Episode 8 : 'Daybreak' (Tiān liàng le) In Chinese! This is the one reaction I think you should do from 2 different versions do to following...Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 9 : 'All by Myself' In English and you haven’t heard it like this! Wait to the end for some extra fun!
    czcams.com/video/Xo1-rtPiT2s/video.html
Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash.
    czcams.com/video/WAx2lTSB1PI/video.html
From the concert in GAKKU you will be stund!! He sings it a bit different to say the least!!! Would be fun see what you think of that one too.

Episode 11 : (did not participate) He was already a finalist.
Episode 12 : 'Confessa & The Diva Dance Confessa in Mandarin/Italian and the Diva dance come from the movie 5th element!!! If you haven’t heard of that one it’s done in a computer because it was too hard for a human to sing!! Well not now when we have Dimash!
    czcams.com/video/iZYGi368xpM/video.html
Later in his own shows from Bastau he sings it a bit different to. His consorts are about 2, 5-3 hours long and I think he did this song towards the end of it.
DIVA DANCE - Dimash Kudaibergen ( The world best singer ) From Bastau
    czcams.com/video/o5zMupUOgQo/video.html
Episode 13 : 'Tribute to MJ' several songs in English and also playing Drums and a singing partner to also some children that sings a bit.
    czcams.com/video/kTQJ-c_Za7s/video.html
He didn’t win the competion they say its because he wasn’t Chinese. But I don’t know if that’s right or not! They change the rules next year. But he got the most out of it and was most known after this. Got lots of awards and other things to. So he won the audience and the Chinese people.
