My fear is about bringing them home. Anything I can do to minimize that and I am in.

Hi Frances, your fear is understandable. You can put most of your clothing and sleeping bag in a tumble drier. If you definitely have an encounter with them I would seek some professional advice before bringing your pack inside your home. However although you can encounter them, the chances are that you won’t! Buen Camino!

We've done two long caminos and have yet to experience the joy of bed bugs. Maybe lucky, maybe not. At every place we stay that has cotton mattresses, we spray lavendar on the top and on the pillow. Seems to work. I have stayed in at least 3 places where we found out later that others were bitten. Maybe we were lucky, maybe its the lavendar....
