Hi Kate, the algorithm put me onto your videos! ha ha ha I really enjoyed them; you captured the way very well! I did the Camino Frances in 2022 and last year the Camino del Norte. I took a bus to Muxia from Santiago and walked from Muxia to Finisterre (a days walk). If the weather is clear, go to the top hill in Muxia for the sunset. It's breathtaking! I'm returning to walk the Camino Frances this July, I wish you all the best on the path! Buen Camino!
Buen Camiño! I’ve just arrived back in the uk. Thanks for the suggestion though. I did make it out to the point at muxia to see the sunset 🌅 The Camiño Norte sounds amazing. I would love to walk it some day. Have a fabulous Camiño in July!
Do you have these accommodation lists so I can add them to my list. I have trouble keeping up to write down your suggestions
Hi Janelle I’m in Spain right now having just completed another camino and don’t have access to them atm. Sorry.
Kate, anyone who can smile while walking in the rain is definitely in a good headspace. stay strong, and happy trails.😊
Ah thank you Tim! We have had rain every day!! Yesterday when I filmed this short update - it was particularly heavy rain (believe it or not - I filmed when it lightened up!). It’s rain again today! You just have to accept it and enjoy your Camino! It helps you really appreciate things like a cafe to take a break in and the beautiful sunset over the sea even more!
Oh I am so excited for all those extras! I hope you enjoy yourself thoroughly, have some delicious food, intriguing conversations and a very buen camino on the Ingles!
Thanks so much Jenn!
Hi Kate. Congratulations on your channel. 26K views for your first video is amazing! I haven’t produced one yet but am hoping to do something next week in Croatia. I will be happy if anyone has a look at it 😀
Thank you! It was actually my second. But I deleted my first as that was terrible! 😂 I think you just have to start making videos and keep going! All the best with your channel!
This video got me so pumped for my upcoming Camino. 😊
That’s great! Buen Camino!
I'm curious why you weren't using your umbrella when it was raining. Was it too windy, or just not your preference?
I use it for the sun! It’s an ultralight sun umbrella but could be used in the rain. However I usually just wear a rain jacket!
Roughly how long would it take to complete it all in the one go? I'm planning on going next march or the 25th July
Hi - It depends on how far you are able to walk each day. I took 39 days to walk from St Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre. I think to Santiago 34 or 35 days is comfortable. some take longer some can finish much quicker than that! I hope that helps!
@@Kate_Pilgrim Thank You :)
Your videos are really helping me plan my trip. I turn 45 this fall and have ever intention of doing this in early spring. Your journey feels the closest to my own and I am very grateful for everything you have shared. I cannot wait to see the rest of your footage. Thank you so much for this series thus far Kate.
Thanks so much for the encouraging comments! I’m so pleased it has helped you with your planning. It’s great you are planning to walk the Camino! 💚
The Meseta in May should be nice and green.
Yes I would love to see it at that time of year!
The problem is Kate. They Don't.. and I finished Francis in April! Yuk .😢😢
I don’t understand it! 😢
This brought back great memories. I'm the creator of the Camino Frances app. It's totally free with no ads or registration. I'd be really thankful if you checked it out! ❤🥾
Thank you so much for the super thanks Gerry! I was so touched by that! I will check out the app!
Congrats Kate , I really! Enjoyed Camino after Santiago to Finisterre, I should have continued North to Muxia , I am returning next April to complete a section and then to Porto, well that's my current plan. The amount of TRASH! On Camino Francis was very disturbing and I started March 14th I cannot imagine what it's like now ! Very shameless hikers. 😮
Thank you! Yes sadly there is a lot of trash plant the trail 😢 Buen Camino!
The Meseta was the best part of the journey.
It’s a beautiful place!
Nice one Kate.
Thank you Harry! 😃
You really have captured the true spirit of the Camino Frances.
I've recently completed the Camino Fonseca (from Salamanca). On August 19th I begin the Frances again. (by far the best)
Thank you! I’m working on the next video right now! ☺️
Wow Harry!!! That’s incredible! Well done on completing the Camino Fonseca!
should have looked further another good clip,
Thank you! ☺️
Thanks you Kate really useful. Last question accommodation do you need to book anything or what's a good web site to plan the walk identifying where to stop.
Thank you! ☺️ You can use the wise pilgrim app which has contact details for places to stay, the gronze website and booking.com
23 years for the murder of that poor woman. That this POS will experience both life and freedom again is proof that there are NO gods. Just none.
Trying to find advice on how you arrange accommodation or do you just this from village to village. Food / Payment how does this work. What is sensible to have in your backpack
Hi Crispin please check out my packing video and my accommodation video for more info on these. As long as you have emergency snacks and water with you (I like to have a cereal bar and some nuts). I take some cash with me (maybe up to 100 euros and top up at cashpoints along the way) and use card payments when I can. Food is readily available in cafes and bars and in the evenings it is often at the accommodation you will be staying at. Buen Camino!
Thank you much appreciated
Hi Kate, I’ve just subscribed after seeing a comment on Nick’s channel. This is the first of your videos I’ve watched and it was a tough watch indeed. I finished my Camino in León on 10th May having walked several days on the meseta with tendinitis in my knee. I was absolutely gutted but knew I had to stop as walking downhill became just about impossible. I’ve also had that same injury to my foot as you but on a previous Camino and after a couple of days rest I was able to continue so hope you managed to continue too. (it’s after midnight and I’ll catch up with your next instalment tomorrow 😅). I’m planning to return to León in September to pick up where I left off. Anyway I really enjoyed your video and seeing the meseta again, even though it’s still fresh I’m my memory. Cheers and Buen Camino.
Hi Graham Oh that must have been soooo hard for you! But is great you have the opportunity to go back and complete it. Yes spoiler alert - I was able to walk again after 2 rest days. I’m still creating the next video and hope to get it out soon. You can catch up with chapters 1-3 though. Thank you for the sub! Buen Camino!
Another lovely vlog and bringing back more lovely memories😊 A few long, hard days there😲👏👏👏
Hi Ciaran! 😊 Glad it brought back some good memories for you. Thanks so much for your encouragements. 😊
In my life I made many long trail tracks,in snow in desert, but at age 67 i realised what is walking in paradise. It is Camino de Santiago. I found much more than you can imagine. I met firends. they helped me and I found much more. It is not important where you start your Camino. It is important that you a on the correct way!!!! Buen camino.
That’s lovely! It’s definitely a place for beauty and friendships! Buen Camino! 😊
Loved your tips. very objective. Thanks. Greetings from Brazil
Thank you! Greetings! ☺️
Beautifully filmed and well put together. The Meseta is gorgeous … always very special to me. So sorry though you encountered this nasty bug 🪳 and you had do deal with blisters and tendinitis. You coped well with this! Thanks for sharing your story with us! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your kind words! ☺️
Kate, a thought on giving in to your fears; remember this line from the 1942 movie Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman “You’ll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life” 😅 Happy Trails.
😂 Thank you! ☺️
At 14:48 you came through my little village. I am sorry you were suffering with those blisters.
That’s cool! My blisters did eventually improve. thank you ☺️
This is a wonderful and a great video about your pilgrim journey. I am from Canada and in October I will go on a pilgrim trip to Funchal . Madeira Portugal , Fatima Portugal and Santiago de Compostela . it’s my vacation for two weeks . I’m 62 years old.and I have a bad back . I’m going to fly directly to Santiago de Compostell, and from there, I will stay at a hotel then I will go to the cathedral and I will say my prayers I will go to Confession, Holy Mass , and that will be my pilgrim trip to, this holy place where the relics of Saint James apostles are kept.
Your pilgrimage trips sounds amazing! Have a blessed time!
Thank you very much. I am watching your video now. God bless you and keep you safe .i will make great video and I will upload them in CZcams
sounds great! 😊
Never talk to strangers while traveling and do not share your private information with anyone. Trust no one .
On the Camino - some people who were initially strangers to me became good friends!
@@Kate_Pilgrim I I apologize for my remark, but I have had very bad experiences with people in Brazil when I went to visit a few years ago .

What is your average km per day??
Hi Paul - that’s a tricky one! I don’t know. on this blog my shortest day was 16km and my longest was over 30. Usually I would say somewhere between 24 and 30. Sometimes more and sometimes less. But I needed recovery time in Leon and had already taken a rest day in Burgos and also had a nearly zero day of 8km one week in. So it was all very variable! Towards the end of the Camino is when I was able to consistently do longer days and manage to keep this up even when there were hills. But I was fitter by then.
Hi Kate. Am finding these weekly blogs very useful. I assume these are experiences from last year and this is a compilation of your first Camino Frances.
Glad you find them useful. Yes this was late summer/sept 2023 and my first Camino. It’s just taken me a while to compile the content into videos! Buen Camino!
Very informative video Kate, which will help me when I do my Camino. You are an inspiration! God bless.
Thanks for the encouragement Neil! Blessings and Buen Camino!
The scenery is so amazing! 🌅 What an amazing experience - and achievement, Kate 💙 I’m really loving these videos! 🎥 Keep posting! 🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
It was in Meseta I learned to count to one. 🥃
🌅
Hello!! One big question I have - are all of these tracks easy to keep to? If I’m on my own, can I just wander on and be confident I’m on track? Thank you so much!
Hello! on the Camino Frances you can literally follow the yellow arrows and scallop shells all the way across Spain without a map! In cities it can become slightly more confusing when leaving. But the arrows are still there and locals are always willing to help. I also used the map in the wise pilgrim app to work out where I was in relation to the trail a few times. But yes - it’s easy to keep to the trail! Buen Camino!
@@Kate_Pilgrim Wow what a nice reply to receive! And as for the albuerges, I’ve been thinking and reading about them - is it true you just turn up at the “checkpoints” and stay where you can find? Heard that most aren’t advertised online so was a bit worried that I’d not have anywhere to sleep!
You cannot prebook at municipal albergues. Most albergues are detailed in the wise pilgrim app. Some albergues you can book ahead via phone/email/whatsapp. I have an accommodation video which explains more!
Number three is a Francis problem but some of the smaller routes you can walk 20 km without seeing another pilgram.
Yes I can see how that is true! I’m walking another Camino in a few weeks and I look forward to finding out! 😊
@@Kate_Pilgrim which one are you walking this time?
Camino Ingles
On the Camino Francés, from Sarria in, be on the lookout for fake pilgrims. They are few and far between, but they are there and some of them are very good at what they do. They will steal from you in the albergues, pick your pockets in bars and restaurants, and even spike your drinks when you’re not aware. A great rule to work with: Hang out with those you met in the first 680 km. Buen Camino!
Sadly I have heard of this approach being used and it is important to keep your wits about you and be cautious. But there are also plenty of people (genuine pilgrims) who start the pilgrimage at Sarria who struggle to feel part of the Camino community. It’s lovely to spend time with people you already know but also great to include people who have just started their Camino. Buen Camino!
Buen Camino… thank you for sharing your Camino… re-living my 2021 Camino … wonderfully crafted…
Thank you! Glad it is bringing back your Camino memories! Buen Camino!
These are so great and #10 happened to me at a restaurant bathroom. I am back in Porto now and would usually grab the metro or Uber to the bus station but instead I'm walking there. 😂
Glad they made total sense to you! 😂
Really enjoying your videos and looking forward to our next walk in May 2025. Could you tell us the name and location of that wonderful breakfast stop before you reached the Burgos Airport. Thanks
Hi! I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos. I’m working on the next one. Sorry I am not 100% sure where it was. There was a possible alternate route after atapuerca and I remember taking the left along with most other pilgrims. We followed a road which led to a village and this was the first cafe we came to on the left. The village may have been Cardinuela Riopico but I’m unsure. it was definitely the first cafe we came to though after atapuerca! It’s very exciting that you have a Camino planned for next year! Buen Camino!
Thank You Kate! Wonderful video that we are watching in the final week before we leave for our Camino - The excitement continues to build for us! Was this in April 2024? It seems very hot for that time of year. We start in SJPDP on May 31 and want to be prepared for the weather.
Hello, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I have 2 more videos out and am working on the next in the series. So please check out the PILGRIM playlist. This was the end of August 2023. It’s taken me a while to edit the footage! Have an amazing time! Buen Camino!
Just seeing this one! Your videos are wonderful 💜💜💜
Thank you so much! 💚💚💚
Amazing
Thank you!
Thanks for the inspiring and beautiful video! I am in my early 50s and the Camino has been on my bucket list for ages. ❤
Thank you! It’s an amazing experience!
Such a privilege to have your family with you. Due to the fact that my wife and I are full time caregivers for our daughter my wife can’t join me.
It was lovely that they joined me for the first week. When are you planning to walk?
@@Kate_Pilgrim I return for my 6th Camino in June I can only do a week or two at a time. I am doing SJPdP to Burgos for the second time. It’s a beautiful stage. I love the fellowship and yet walking alone is so wonderful for me. I really enjoyed your videos. Thank you and Buen Camino
Thank you! Have a wonderful time! Buen Camino!
The only unsafe situation was in Santiago. There is a local man on the city shouting and harassing women. I talked to the police and they laughed and said he is just that way.
I’m really sorry you had this experience
