Gwen Stacey's death in the comics was really the first time a hero failed (apart from part of an origin story) and the first time a major supporting character died and stayed dead. Many comic collectors consider this story the end of the "Silver Age" of comics, when comics lost their innocence.

@@BlayF13 Yeah but also they saw that some major characters are no good to stay dead. I don't even remember how often a superhero died and came back, either the deceased one being a clone, or because of an alternate timeline, or some space magic mumbo jumbo. There was this storyline about Peter Parker being a clone of the real Spiderman Ben Parker, wich went by the name of Ben Reilly. They completely built up a different story with this "original" Spiderman, just to say at some point "nope", Ben Reilly was actually the clone all along and now he dies. Peter is back in charge. Then there was another story about mutlipe clones, nothing made sense anymore and that was when i totally and forever lost interest in the comics, because nothing had weight to it anymore, everything was possible, heroes could die and be reborn and everything you witnessed could be retconned and completely thrown out of the window at any time.
I hated that. Never touched a comic book again. And now MCU movies started the same bs with integrating the multiverse. So i will say goodbye to the movies as well at some point i guess.

The two Amazing Spider-Man films live and die by the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. A couple things, yes that’s more or less how Gwen dies in the comics. She was Peter’s first major loss post-Uncle Ben, and even other comic editors/writers were furious at the choice at the time. It was a very ballsy move both for the comic and this film to stick with it because obviously people don’t like seeing characters they love killed off, but I think this films handles it as well as it could. Andrew and Emma were actually together during the making of both these movies, and you can really tell by how well they play off each other.
Also yes, they were going to introduce Shailene Woodley’s Mary Jane Watson had there been a third film, but that never happened. She was actually going to be in this one and even shot some scenes, but that was changed because it was felt it would take away from Gwen’s death.
Despite the critical reception, Andrew was originally set to get his third film, but he was fired by a producer (it might have been Arad? Idr specifically who) because Garfield missed some public meeting due to being bedriddenly sick. The rest is history.
Sorry for the long comment, but I’m glad you guys liked the movies. The general public has definitely softened on Garfield and his Spider-Man movies, and it’s been nice since he is still my favorite Peter/Spidey of the three.

And, sadly, the Gwen Stacy story was the only really good story bit in this movie, which is why I expected to not see a third movie. Jamie Foxx felt wasted in this, and that's a damn shame. But the Gwen Stacy story was absolutely the strongest part of this movie. Tragic, but well done.

Another fun fact is that kid getting bullied and saved by spider man was actually Andrew Garfield’s idea to put into the movie with the voice overs saying that they hate him while he’s doing something so simple and small but big and not simple to the kid that’s who spider man is that’s why he’s my favorite

Regarding what happened to Jamie Foxx - he apparently suffered a "medical complication" of some sort (That his family is keeping the details of secret out of respect for him) while filming a movie. His daughter said in a social media post that he's out of the hospital and also called out the media for making it sound worse than it was to get clicks.
The thug who gets the mech suit (Rhino) is played by Paul Giamatti. He usually has hair and a beard (And obviously, none of those tattoos). He's been in a good share of movies so that's probably why he looked familiar to you. Most recently he was in the Disney movie Jungle Cruise which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Gwen Stacy does die in the comics. It's a very famous part of Spider-Man lore, and was a big deal since it was the first time a hero actually failed in such a big way. In the comic it was Norman who killed her, not Harry. He throws her off a bridge and Peter catches her with a web, only to discover after pulling her up that she's dead. This was referenced in the first Maguire film where, if you remember, Norman takes Mary Jane to a bridge during the climax and drops her from it, though as you know, Peter was able to save her there. The exact cause of Gwen's death was up for debate for a bit, but it has since been determined that the whiplash from the sudden stop broke her neck - to this day, Peter is haunted by the fact that he sort of inadvertently killed her by catching her the way he did. Though in this movie, it seems her head smacked against the ground.
There were many plans for future installments of this series, many of which were teased in this movie - in fact, one of the most common criticisms this movie gets is that it spends too much time setting things up and not enough telling its own story. There were plans for a third and forth film as well as a movie about the Sinister Six (A team composed of six Spider-Man villains, usually formed and lead by Doc Ock or Green Goblin) and a Venom movie set in this continuity. However, the mixed-to-negative reception of this movie, coupled with the MCU wanting to use Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War (As he plays a big role in the Civil War storyline in the comic) lead to Spider-Man being rebooted again in the MCU with Tom Holland. Sony got hacked in 2014 and many details surrounding their plans were released onto the internet, many of which gave off the impression that they were just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Kevin Feige, the head of the MCU, often reads the scripts for Sony's Marvel films and gives them notes. His notes for this movie can be found online - and it's clear that Sony did not listen to him at all, and that in hindsight, they really should have. Most notably, Feige dislikes the idea of Peter's parents being special people, preferring Peter as a normal kid with an ordinary upbringing who becomes Spider-Man purely by chance.

The film was a box office success, making $709 million dollars against a $293 million dollar budget. There was going to be a third film as well as a spin-off film called THE SINISTER SIX, but all these films would sadly be cancelled due to the 2014 Sony Pictures Hack, as someone leaked all th scripts to the films online, and that Spiderman would be part of the MCU.
