The more I paint, the more I appreciate your mastery of simplifying the composition, and doing it so quickly! The light is shifting, cars dissappear but you just go for it!
I don't know much about paintings but the realism of the nearby objects is impressive, although the nearest highway seems to me not to be seen as well, but I think that the lack of clarity or definition of the objects in the back that denotes that effect of poor sharpness due to the distance seems incredible to me 🔝
I always like your city compositions. This had to be challenging, trying to capture such big scene with all those straight lines and cool cement colors. Your composition has more vibrancy and warmth with those sienna undertones. The video implied a lot more atmosphere and distance but I like your choices. Your scene invites the viewer, and that street compels our eyes out into that horizon. Instructive and interesting as always, great video. I have to catch up on your recent work. Thanks
I always feel trepidation about how you begin: it seems too loose, too general, sloppy. I then always feel amazement and admiration as you pull yet another rabbit out a hat with a wonderful final result. This one in particular!
Great tips on simplifying which is the hardest part to achieve in a cityscape! Great subtle shift in colors and color temperature from left, shadow, to right, sunlight. Good job! The wind has been so strong in SF, and you didn’t let it bother you!
Ive said before that the way you sketch out and scrub in your blocking is great to watch but also your loose style. I want to loosen up more in my work. Thank you.
Your videos inspire me alwayes...actually I have started plein aire landscape a couple month ago...I feel very shy to start cityscape painting!!...how I overcome this fear infront of the people ?.. fear from doing mistakes...!!!!
I was nervous to paint in the city as well. The hardest part is setting up. Once you begin painting the nervousness goes away. After a few outings the fear will go away. Just go for it!
@@chamberlainpaintings Thanks so much for replying...I have just watched a video of you talking about the same topic..anexity and fear of painting in public and really that helped me....thanks again for your efforts .
I don't do much recon although that's not a bad idea. I paint in Russian Hill quite a bit since Studio Gallery is nearby. I often find my composition while looking for parking! 😂
@@chamberlainpaintings. Yes, Michael , love your paintings, sketches, block ins or rough ins. You may remember how silly me often imagines seeing other shapes, within shapes, ever since I was a youngster. Anyway, so beautiful at 2:47 , center, I see a person setting a Royal Cape upon the shoulders of another. ( many or most cannot see this ). Think of a person of Royalty that wears a ruling cape , such as Kings and Queens often, always wore, historically. The Queen is worthy allowing the Royal Cape to be set upon their shoulders. Such beautiful Imagery in your paintings. Also the actual composition painting as well. Thank you for allowing me to see them.
It’s amazing how the painting starts out looking flat and then the depth appears almost like magic.

Wow! Have to give major props for painting while recording and explaining, it's so cool to hear your process in your own words.

Hi Michael. You’ve captured the light!👍🏽
this painting makes me drool!! It is wonderful.
and i love how you explain it as you go along. If only I could do this myself.....I just keep trying
Really love this painting! So instructive to see how you create the magic.
Excellent I like it when you do paintings of the city.
So good! Loving your city scenes lately.

This is a super painting , most successful. All very subtle. Thank you so much for another great video, much appreciated
Love your videos and appreciate your articulation of the process. Thanks for sharing.

I love that composition, nice work
Love your city paintings, thanks for sharing your amazing work!
Thank you Michael. The truck is a terrific anchor for the scene. That street is another wave building as it gets closer. Thanks again.

Good job Mike 👍🏼I feel these city scenes must help hone specific and deliberate stroke making. Thanks for taking us to SF 🙏🏼
Sooooooo gooooood, Michael! I know doing plein air in the city is difficult for you, but thank you for doing another one! ❤
Thanks Kay!
@@chamberlainpaintings you rock! 👍🥰
Love this painting. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a beautiful painting. How you sorted and simplified all that out is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Catherine!

You make city life look so romantic.San Francisco has alot of beauty, just to much concrete
There's so much to paint in SF, both natural and concrete!
You nailed it!
omg this is so goood
Looks beautiful!
Awesome painting Mike 🎨
Thanks Cedric!
@@chamberlainpaintings keep up the good work🎨🍻
Beautiful, as always!
Phthalo blue is perfect for the Bay Area sky. To my eyes, ultramarine is too reddish. A mix of phthalo and ultramarine catch the essence of the sky.
Brilliant
Nice 👏🙌
Спасибо за ваше видео, они учат меня рисовать на пленэре 👋🤝
Great outcome and a really nice sense of depth, Michael. Do you do a lot of recon to find your spaces on foot or in you car?
I don't do much recon although that's not a bad idea. I paint in Russian Hill quite a bit since Studio Gallery is nearby. I often find my composition while looking for parking! 😂
Good morning Michael

Thanks for the video! A curiosity...why you don't remove the old paint from your palete? Peace
One advantage of a box palette is that you can leave the paint you don't use. I just close the box and use the paint for the next painting.
Could you please send me a link to the Masonite board you buy to paint on
Any hardboard will do. I use 3/16" which I buy at Lowe's.
Nice 👏🙌
