  • hi there! join me for a cosy chat about my april & (mostly) may knitting ✨ i finished my franky genser, made some interesting progress on my eras tour outfit, finished my cousin's storm sweater man and finally got to cast on the maren tee!

    been having some serious audio recording quality issues... i'm trying to figure out how to fix this asap

    i named this the candid knitting podcast because that's exactly what i want it to be: not too polished, honest and, just like me, at times a teeny bit chaotic!

    Loved to tune in and find your podcast!
    And it's soo interesting, I had the same issue with the Birkin Polo (even with the normal ribbing). I thought I picked up enough stitches with the button band, but it also seemed to be super weird and wavy at the edge. In the end I actually decided to frog it and use the yarn for something else 😅
    Looking forward to see the Eras Tour Outfit 😍

      hi! happy to have you here 🤍 i really really considered frogging too, it was such a frustrating knit at times! sorry to say the end result did end up being so worth it though 🥲

    I really like your videos and your content! I am happy that you are back with a new video :) however I was wondering if you are thinking about investing in a microphone to improve the audio quality of your videos. It would make your videos even more enjoyable :)

      hi! thanks for the kind comment 🤍 i actually have a relatively alright microphone, but am currently unable to use it because a colleague needs it for work purposes and it's something i bought on my work budget 😅 hope to have it back soon though ✨

      haha hoe leuk! ik heb getwijfeld om mezelf ook een tafelkleed te gunnen maar ik had net ook al de lopers met kruidenprint gekocht dus kon het niet verantwoorden 😭

      @@candidknit de print is wel handig als je er vlekken op maakt zie je het niet zo goed als ze er niet goed uit wassen x)

    This may be too late for you but maybe someone else will see it and find it helpful. A knitter on Ravelry suggested for the double knitted collar on the birkin polo, after doing the short rows, split the stitches across two needles to knit in the round instead of doing the double knitting

    • @candidknit
      @candidknit  Před 25 dny +1

      that's brilliant!!! i was thinking i'd like another one in the future, but the endless double knitting would've kept me from it... maybe this could help me knit another one 🩵 thanks for sharing!

    I like the pink of your franky genser - how is the peeling so far? It’s my greatest fear of this blownyarns.

    • @candidknit
      @candidknit  Před měsícem +1

      thank you!! it hasn't been finished long enough to really judge the pilling, but i know that garments knit with blown yarns can lose shape rather quickly and can lose the blown fibers, with only the chain remaining (for example in the underarms). since this is a blown yarn held with nothing to support the shape or to help hold on to the alpaca fibers, i must say i'm a bit worried about how this one's going to wear :(

    • @TheSolipsist0
      @TheSolipsist0 Před měsícem

      @@candidknit so you are recommending to hold it with something stronger like a merino or something? Thanks for that advice.

    • @candidknit
      @candidknit  Před měsícem +1

      yes, but not necessarily a merino, i think! i knit the levitate wrap in the recommended yarns, which is a blown yarn held with a sturdier lace weight linen blend, and it has held its shape quite well! for the cloud sweater (knit with the same isager soft blown yarn) petiteknit for example recommends you hold it with a mohair. that seems to make the blown yarn stand out a bit more and gives you a fluffier finish. i'd like to try holding a blown yarn with a mohair sometime!
