Back when I lived in NYC, I was displaced because of both Hurricane Sandy and Irene. And both times my school evacuated a bunch of us who didn't have a place to go, and we lived on MREs for a few days each. So this video, in a weird way, made me so happy haha. Y'all got to experience the food range of exactly what I did!
That said, there are some banger MREs that I'd eat willingly, even if I weren't sheltered in the middle of a hurricane 😂

MRE's are jam packed full of calories and nutrients and they have a very long shelf life. They are easy to break down into small rations for on the go chow time. Lunchables can't hold a candle to the diversity of an MRE. I once used the spoon from an MRE as a field expedient antenna insulator for a radio. I have heard rumors that if you add the Tabasco sauce to the heater packs, it makes a small "tear gas" bomb, but never tried it myself

My dog growing up ate a whole box of crayons and it was the most colorful poop ever. The crayons don't break down so it is like m&ms in a log lol.....
I've been told that many MRE's are only made edible by crumbling in all the additions (crackers, seasoning packets, hot sauce) that come with them. So much so in fact, that if you have some extras from the ones that are edible without the additions, you can trade them for all sorts of good shit. My brother lost his sense of taste as a kid so he saved up all his seasoning packets and traded them all to one guy for a PS3 back in the day.
I could probably hook yall up with some fully packaged MREs

A running joke in the military is that us Marines eat crayons like we are dumb children. Alot of Marines are actually very intelligent and we do not actually eat crayons.

I think this should’ve been a guessing game as well and had them guessing what the flavors were based on the taste and have them compete for points based on who guesses correctly more. Kinda weird how this show is not more structured and there doesnt seem to be a point to it other than let’s eat random foods. It needs more to spice it up and make it more engaging for the audience.
I thought of that but most of the dishes were pasta based and pretty easy to guess. So instead we pivoted to ranking and having fun. But I totally get where you're coming from and I'm always looking for ways to make the episodes better.

Usually the ones that need warming can be done in the package without anything extra. Idk if they followed those directions though.
