    A great new ute, to be sure. The 3L V6TT is what this device really needed after merely subsisting on the filthy polluting stinking diesel in the lower models. That the new Raptor is sold-out for about 100 years is hardly surprising - it looks to be truly great. What saddens me though is that, not all that long ago, we had a 'ready-to-go' fully developed and manufactured all AUSTRALIAN motor that would put this new V6 in the shade, bigtime. The final incarnation of the hallowed Barra - the 370Kw (493HP) used in the 550 now-collectible limited edition FG-X Sprint 6. It would have been the quintessentially perfect donk to live under the snout of this incredible new Ranger. I have a Sprint 6 and I can tell you, after 45 years of driving V8s and HiPo 6s, this final factory/stock '500HP' Barra is the best of all I've ever sampled. That we don't have this 4 litre AUSTRALIAN techno-marvel now, especially in Ranger, is an absolute travesty. Long live the great new V6 and its 'limited' performance. ;-)

      @@seadoomania Hahahaha! Ranger twin-turbo off-road racers caring about fuel consumption!! Toooo funny!! Anyway, clearly you know not of which you speak, as your detailed analysis demonstrates. Have you owned one of the final Barras? Barra 'can' use a lot of fuel if driven hard, yes, but that's to be expected with any car/motor. Remember, this is a motor that has evolved and been developed over decades by the 'can-do' attitude of the techs and engineers of Ford Oz. There has NEVER been a motor better attuned and applicable to the specific needs and demands of Austalians than this venerable donk. The final incarnation of the stock standard 370Kw, 650 nm Barra returns me an average of 10 litres/100kms (27mpg around the 'burbs and often I will see 8 L/100kms (35mpg) on freeway use during our roadtrips with 4 people and luggage. It is the near perfect motor - supercar acceleration (0-100kph in 4.5 secs) if asked (in a FAMILY CAR that cost $55K!!) and better fuel economy than could reasonably be expected for a car with this capability. Nope, nobody will be shitting themselves, sebskee, as a result of any fuel consumption issues - unless they're actually using the prodigious full power of 370 kws and 650nm this beauty provides.

    It seems a decent machine, one thing I absolutely hate is the stupid flappy paddles moving with the steering wheel instead of being fixed to the column.

    • @Stevegrande1
      @Stevegrande1 Před rokem +4

      I’d rather them move with the wheel as you are holding the wheel where the paddles are you just have them there, if they were fixed you’d have to move your hands from the driving position especially if turning the wheel while needing to change gears. I’ve never seen it driven a vehicle that the paddles don’t move with the wheel

    I just don't get it. Why that much horse power and terrible fuel economy. I would love to buy the raptor but 400hp petrol engine is to much.
    3 litre v6 220hp to 250hp more than enough and if the specs would have been like that would be my dream 4x4 ute/car and for many other people.

    Every review is the same, ford brought us here to go fast in dirt, ford are daylight robbers at the moment, estimated price for what is still essentially a normal ranger inside, so internal comfort and room is lacking, it still doesn’t have the carrying or towing capacity, is $93 grand (ford website) Question is, is ford trying to justify the F150 future price tag through the raptor. I spoke with Canadian service and parts staff employed by a dealer, even they said in Canada for $80 grand Canadian or $89 grand Australian you can get the most up to date, top spec large pickup truck, with every conceivable extra, while in Australia we are robbed for choice and ripped off on price.

    • @wizzylizzy69

      It’s not built for towing? It’s built for going fast off road. The fact that that even needs to be explained…..

  • @trickster8635

    Incredibly bad timing for Ford to release this vehicle now in the middle of historically high petrol prices. This vehicle, built to be driven full noise, full right boot will see the fuel needle match the tacho needle for pace! Petrol will hit $2.50 per litre and will be very, very few to afford to hoon about. As for touring, well to ease the pain on the hip pocket you back off. Or buy a diesel - oh, thats right, there isn't one! Once the hype and up-talk dries up about this fuel guzzler engine, Ford may realize the sales they are missing with no diesel for Raptor. Or is there? The chassis, the suspension, the tuning is all going to work well for outback touring, except for fuel economy. Which then leaves the question - where can you actually make use of it's attributes fully?

    • @kj3686
      @kj3686 Před rokem +1

      Petrol is back down to 1.60 atm where I am in SEQ and you don't have to thrash the thing if your worried about fuel consumption. The reality is that diesel will likely be done by 2030 the way things are going, even if it's not entirely justiable. Feelings outway facts these days.
