Rob, consider a spacer behind your steering wheel to bring it closer to you. In doing so, you can trade using your high power low accuracy shoulder muscles to steer in favor of more accurate wrist and elbow muscles. This will help reduce fatigue and strain.
He needs a new steering shaft, using spacers is the cheap way and the dangerous way, but i agree with you that the position his body is in is not right.
Possibly just a dished wheel, his is fairly shallow
yeah give those girly shoulders a bit of a break Rob
@@aserta I'm not sure a spacer is any more dangerous than a boss kit like he's already got on there. You see them all the time on older race cars
very good advice, for racing your shoulders should brace against the seat, while the arms are still in a relaxed position rather than stretched
Your transmission fluid leaking issue... if its coming out of the top of the shifter, its the check valve at the top of the breather tube. Gut it and make it a permanent vent instead. Has a little spring and rubber washer in there
Every time I see anything with Haltech I'm always amazed by the level of support they offer their customers. I know you're paying a premium for it, but when I see a team of 3 techs thrashing to repin/rewire a whole new setup at the track it definitely seems worth it.
wonder if this is something theyd do for just anybody
@@vladniko75 At Hyperfest last year a gentleman lost his factory ECU out of his Corvette while trailering (bolt came loose) we clipped the factory connector and wired in an Elite 2500 and had him shredding by Sunday. Saved his weekend. So, Yes.
@@itschrislaw heck yea that’s sick
Fuel-Tech is great for drag racing. For what you're doing haltech is the way to go.
How is this 20h ago
@vicentegonzalez1717 member maybe idk
@@vicentegonzalez1717 Patreon
Fueltech is used on plenty of drift cars , road course cars , street cars , boats , etc . The main focus is drag racing , but it looks like they plan on expanding into every Motorsports . Haltech make great products but acting as if the fueltech was the cause of the problem is weird .
@@24kNick yes fueltech can be and is used on all kinds of engines, and it's also true they're working to expand into other areas outside there core market of drag racing. However they haven't had as much time to perfect the software as much as some other companies such as haltech. I have no dought that down the road they're work everything out and make an amazing product, but if you venture down that rabbit hole today, be prepared for struggles while figuring things out.
21:48 its ya boy, Hi lol
Was a pleasure meeting and chatting with you Rob.
Auto-rev matching, or learning to heel-toe downshift would help you gain control in braking zones a ton. I'm sure its something that's on your mind, but maybe with the R3 it should be easier or more possible.
I'm surprised he seemingly doesn't know how to
@@NathanaelNaused tbh sometimes it's not that easy. My feet are physically too big to do that movement in every car I've driven
@@nikitaspapaggelopoulos9651 Are you misunderstanding how to do it by any chance? You don't turn your whole foot, you use the outside of your right foot on the gas and the inside on the brake at a slight diagonal angle.
@nikitaspapaggelopoulos9651 i have friends with size 13 feet that have no trouble with heel toe. I with size 11s have never driven a car i cant heel toe. Its usually more like big toe on the brake pinky toe on the gas
@@nikitaspapaggelopoulos9651 if he/they can rewire and ecu swap in an evening. They can adjust the pedal distances to suit whatever feet size or pedal travel to their liking..
As for us mere morals, we get some adjustable pedals for the vehicle and/or learn to roll the foot in different ways to be able to blip the throttle while braking.
No better haltech ad exists, what a great company.
unnecessary to change ECU problem was small, just needed to call fueltech support
@@giosan1 true, but it's good to have all the cars on the same software. What you know best is best.
9:27 had me dying of laughter 😂. Thanks for leaving that in Joel 👏
Oh also - the 3 rotor is a new car! You can hear and feel it running better 🔥
Bet she loves drift cars lol
@@TalkingGecko Oh you're tuning it??
Pretty sure we heard her finish 😂
I was looking for a comment 😂😂
20:28 too bad he's more into my little pony lmao
Hilarious to watch the pro use a hammer crimper and be impressed. They work phenomenally, I have never had a failure. We all learn something new every day!
The sound of this car does things to me!
Also, being a Veloster N owner, it was cool to see their truck in the background throughout the video.
Love this channel. Congrats Joel, Rob and Isaiah!
I love these track videos Rob! Sad to see how many black flags there were and the engine mount cooking at the end but definitely seeing progress.
Why did he keeps getting black flagged so much?
A black flag is usually a technical or safety error. As in, get off the track you're dangerous..... but they seem to be using it like a "pit in" flag. Which is incorrect
I only got black flagged once for merging too soon. But the vast majority of black flags were from other people dropping oil or going off the course.
@@RobDahm thank you for clarification Rob
@@RobDahm oh that makes much more sense. I thought you were getting black flagged and I couldn't understand why. Keep it up man, you're doing really good.
Your tuning ocd is insane dude. Thats not a diss either cause you've obviously been able to do some crazy builds and been able to get the to function quite well.
HOWEVER, get this done to a good baseline before you get to the track if you can. Obviously shit happens and you might find something that you need to change but one of the most important things to mazimize track time is just driving ocnsistent laps at the track. Helps when you get to tracks that you don't know for driving knowledge. It ALSO will sheds lights onto issues that would happen at lower speeds(tires rub, any tuning issues, dumb shit that you just forgot just like everyone else). Sometimes you might be chasing an issue that is tuning related that only happens when you aren't pushing hard.
Also get yourself a manual road car as a daily if you don't already. You should really try and learn heel and toe downshifts. This is kinda hard on the road but honestly easier on track when you are pushing imo.
Keep making them rotors scream bud!
Rob you definitely should come to Laguna Seca.
Also they just finished repaving it so it'll be extra nice
Shoutout to Chris at Haltech! You rock man
I like watching you man. Keep it up, I enjoy seeing you guy constantly fixing or improving or hashing out problems to make the two cars better and how you guys get along and your charisma. You're always propping others work up over yours and thanking them for their contributions or whatever they do and I hope you do more videos on the F1 racer cus that was awesome too.
I think you’ve got mid-30’s in the car/you combination in those conditions. Love the soft hands on the wheel that gives you much better car control, matched with drive by throttle at times. If you can string an entire lap together on the limit or close to it, using threshold braking as well, you’ve got mid 1:30 lap times for sure, congrats! Great video - the team has that down for sure!
That really was like cheating - because Rob did all the basic stuff and headache parts on the R5 of the 4-rotor. And still: what a badass move to change the ECU in the parking lot... 😁😁
Not badass just stupid but I guess if haltech is paying you than fuck it
unnecessary to change ECU problem was small, just needed to call fueltech support
You are a certified Silly Goose!
The track content is a super nice contrast to all the building. Love your videos man.
Love seeing you out getting some seat time!!! Enjoy it!
Always going hard for the thrill of it
Rob Rotary Just Pure Music To My Ears. And He Is Very Knowledgeable And I Love How Proud He Is To His Work. Even If It's A Fail Or Success. Thank You For All Your Content
Glad to see things working out.
LOVE seeing this grow !!! All those hours of frustration are paying dividends !!
Very cool that you got that new ecu setup so quickly. Interested to learn more about the haltech nexus series. Having said that, 250F coolant temps, that's no good. Rebuild or at least coolant seals in the near future in that motor.
You can tell I love these videos from Rob, because even though I hate wiring, and am RUBBISH at wiring when I have had to do it, I will watch hours of Rob Dahm wiring videos. Wtf! 😂
Keep up the great work! Rotary power! ❤
there is sponsored. then there is SPONSORED. i love this. the haltech guys going way above and beyond
Swapping a whole ecu to fix a throttle problem is dumb tho
@@24kNick Thinking they swapped an entire ECU just because of the throttle is dumb tho
Rob, you should look at implementing the Torque Model in the car. With the Drive By Wire, you can truly manipulate the torque. Go faster with less effort.
Haltech does it, and does it well.
"fireworks" sparklers and fountains are not fireworks 😂😂😂 great job on the swap though!
Hal tech guys so much respect to them
You need to bring the steering wheel closer and you should practice heel toe so you can carry more speed into the turn and not throw the weight balance off. Glad to see this thing slaying track days.
Oh Rob, love your team as always 😆07:05
Yo that's dope, good job man. Proud a you.
I love your new speed patch!
you have come so far with your driving. This is such an incredible journey to witness. As the car gets better the driver gets better. The better the driver gets the better the car gets. Thank you you beautiful rotoheads
Silly Goose lol. I've been nailed on that exact blend line too lol.
I have multiple sclerosis, and I take AG1. It is an amazing product that I truly believe in. I wish it was a little less expensive but even at its current price point it is worth it.
Well done Rob! The car is running and in one piece! A couple easy fixes and she'll be ready to race again!
lol Isiah with the Blazer big shot GT8000 torch... if you know, you know
I always knew he was a real one since I saw him wearing that heady ass pashmina in the air strip testing vid
Time for some aluminum mounts. I wish my (dedicated track car) FD had that much grip... lol
Was funny, you escaped the f-250 safety vehicle? Trying to spray you down
Rob felt so comfy with the new ECU he ditched the racesuit for some jeans an a nike jumper.
Rob upgraded his ecu faster than the Gran Turismo tune shop!
Your parents gotta be so proud of you bro
Early access yummmmm
Beat me to it
getting F&F vibes with that laptop sliding round the footwell
man ya just cant beat the sound of a 3 rotor
3 rotors are the best sounding rotary engines, even better than 4 rotors in my opinion.
@@NorwayVFX i think the same man
My guy just barely made it across those fireworks in time 😅
😂😂😂 yeahhh we didn’t expect that to go how it did
This sounds way smoother on the engines, but I missed the pop turbos sounds on last videos, but no more engine throttle stuttering tho, nice Haltech stuff going there❤
defo loved that!
Do you heel&toe during downshifting or rev-match? Difficult to hear what's happening
Never seen that kudos
Have you got a heel rest under the pedals? If your feet are bouncing around in the footwell, you won't get a clean throttle input. A piece of angle ally bolted/riveted to the floor for you to brace against to keep your feet in a stable position will work wonders.
best sound on a car , so awesome !!!
Been watching you forever bro. Love the RX7 and everything you have done with it. Any plans on maybe joining us in Colorado Springs one year for the hill climb on America's Mountain? I am interested to see what your set-up would do with Pikes Peak. Keep it up man! Love the vids.
Them haltech dudes are no joke!
Great great work mate , I just love your knowledge , hoping you sent the box back , so they can check the firmware on the unit , they did recall the whole first batch and replaced them with the new upgraded setup firmware , as the unit is unserviceable , as you know . I know this because I also brought from the first batch , but had the seller contact me in a recall it's a firmware issue in the first batch . Being the Best company they are they replaced and delivered them to everyone who sent there's back in .
Please keep up the mad work mate , love your style .
What is the box
@@colby1380, Driver,, control software ,
The Box , is a state of the Art , single or twin 8AMP power supply with full operating control software and drivers to fully control your boost , and how you want it to operate, to optimise your full power delivery , to use your turbo to the best it can operate. Hope that helps mate . Like Rob , I won't say the company's name either , as in no way do I want people to put them down , they are the leading company in the World , and No-one has anything to match them and there products . And they are Proudly Aussie made , by a company that backs there products 100 per cent , the fastest cars in the world rely on this Aftermarket Australian company .
its not late, nooo
but rob uploaded so im here.
how You can even melt an engine mount - Rob always has a surprise for us
Wow they even repin the harness
When’s the race rob? I’ve been waiting for it! Is it on ppv? Kidding, should be fun to watch!, time list under braking into slow right
I feel like you need to do some more downshifting
I could be wrong but you don't seem to downshift ever around the corners
Ooooh rob❤you help me procrastinate hard and learn at the same time😢 0:48
Thank you Rob for driving all the way back to the shop just to plug the sponsors.😝
You should use a manual as a daily driver so the manual shifts becomes more natural and faster.
Isaiah using a dab torch to light the fireworks 😂🙏
What do you use to control the E-wg? It's high amperage, so do you use another box between the E-wg and the ecu?
Your shop is in an industrial area…just practice heal toe every night for a bit up and down the street going 4-3-2 over and over and you’re good.
Love the trackside EMS swap! 😂
Im buying a haltech after watching this.
Rob you seriously need to learn how to proeperly heel toe!
It will change completely the way you drive
Danger to the manifold flashing on the screen and The Dahm Father is still in it.
Dude had ''over rev'', ''high coolant temp'' and ''overboost'' flashing on the screen and didn't slow down one bit :P
haha its my first time using the haltech dash so i think its over rev alarm was at 7k haha i had to just ignore it
Ahh, dad's proud 👏
All happening real time 😊
I have those same forehead lamps the haltech guys have...and played the same rave game 🤣🤣🤣
What are those led headlamp they are using called?
head light rave is the best
Hey! I dont know if this will be responded to or even read. But i am a huge fan of your builds! I recently got an fb rx7 and wanted to learn about it. So i have been watching your videos. They are so helpful and so fun to watch! My original plan was to just motor swap and go. But now i want to see exactly whatt i can get the 12a to do! Any recommendations? I am considering swapping the carb intaje to a custom intake with "port" injection.
I would love those racing videos to be above one hour!
The Man Machine 👽👍🏻✨
Rob send your dad some keeps for the ultimate Sponsor
If he grows his hair back I'd be impressed
Haven’t watched video yet, just seen the thumbnail, in Winnipeg everyone is too slow, too serious! Lol
Of course this went well. You had Jesus at 2:13 watching your back 😁😁
I see your harbor freight flush cutters Rob 😘
11:56 goofiest song ever
Hilarious that they sent him on track while there was already smoke in the cabin in pre-grid.
Keep the adrenaline flowing! 🔥🚀
Could we get more info on that headlamp?
im glad i wasnt the only one lol. that light is sick
the longest running and easily most interesting dorito story ever told.
aaaaaand i knew there'd be some spoonish language fuel tech simps .... face it guys haltech is just better. that's not too say fueltech is bad but haltech is infinitely better
Holy crap vid only been up for 7 min. How lucky!
that guy has some OP pikachu pants there haha
Me thinking “Overnite ECU swap is nuts”
Rob thinking “Yes plz”
