    Hey bro. How much will you charge me if I had you guys finish my ej20 swap in my 2004 wrx? Motor is already in but all wiring harness and hoses need to be connected.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před rokem +1

      Really just charge ya for the time it takes to finish it up brother. Hard to say how long it would take. But start to finish all in all, it doesn’t take me more then 20hrs. So it would be some sort of fraction of that

  • @idokwatcher2062
    @idokwatcher2062 Před rokem

    OK but you never said _why_? Does JDM have higher compression block? Does it have more aggressive camshaft profile? Does it have larger valves?

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před 11 měsíci

      Its the piston profile that causes the higher comp ratio, you can lower he comp ratio by using a thicker headgasket if you want. There are positives to leaving high comp and lowering the comp. all depends on your goals with the motor.

    9:29 where can I get the intake gaskets for the plastic manifold, it seems like I can only find the sheet-style gaskets

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před 10 měsíci

      Ya the plastice mani’s were so scarce. Dealer is the only reliable place to get them. They are pretty cheap

    May be a stupid question I’m extremely new to subies but could same process be done the other way around got bad jdm ej253 and got a junk yard domestic ej251 would like to put jdm intake and whatnot on domestic

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes it could be done the other way around. Only things to watch out for:
      Did your car originally have an EGR? If so it will have to end up with an egr motor.
      Is your car 06+, then you can not use a 251 due to the avls in the 06+
      Hope that helps!

    • @Littles_garage
      @Littles_garage Před 9 měsíci

      There’s a good chance I’m wrong ik that the motor that’s in my 05 Impreza rs is the ej253 with egr and z25 heads and the motor I got to swap is out of 04 fozzi has ej25 stamp and has Q25 heads I’m pretty good with mechanics and how everything works but still trying to figure out how these Lego blocks tick, no pun intended 😂

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před 9 měsíci

      @@Littles_garage 05 and under typically are compatible. It may the egr that is the difference in the cyl head codes. Im better with turbo knowledge but definitely dabble a lot in the N/A

    Hi Subaristam🤝Tell me, have you ever done a swap from ej202 to ej251? jdm

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před 5 měsíci

      I haven’t done that exact swap but it would be same process. Match the crank and cam gears with original ones, swap if needed. Swap over coolant cross over and intake manifold

      @user-zg9ri4su9p Před 5 měsíci

      @@TheSubieSanctuary Well, I understand. In principle, it is not a difficult replacement. interesting out of curiosity 😁, how much does your original timing belt kit cost for the 251 engine?

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před rokem +2

      To replace your blown engine so that your car works again? These are old cars, find a good domestic engine with reasonable milage is near impossible. The Japanese engine will typically have 1/3 of the milage as the average domestic.

  • @Mike_44
    @Mike_44 Před rokem

    Did the jdm models also experienced the dreaded H/G issue as USDM ones? Seriously, all these 251/353 motors needed were turbo MLS H/Gs and they last forever..

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před rokem

      Yes even though this jdm na was dry, they did otherwise get the same crappy HG’s as the domestic na’s.
      Ive seen jdm na’s come in with seeping hg’s 😭

    • @Mike_44
      @Mike_44 Před rokem

      @@TheSubieSanctuary It’s quite a lot of work changing the H/Gs for MLS ones, but so worth it. That motor would never leak again from there.

  • @jophillips2868
    @jophillips2868 Před rokem

    Wouldn't it be better to go ahead and replace the timing belt and all of the police while the engine is out of the car and it's easier to do instead of waiting and you don't know how many miles is on it.
    That's a big risk for the person that's getting the engine

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Před rokem

      Yes for sure if they want to pay for it.
      Otherwise, with the timing components off it is easy to inspect each bearing. Its what it means to be good mechanic rather then throwing peoples money around.
