Feel pretty good
Question can you do some napoleon or some Spanish battles
More videos please
I don't care how much spam World of Warships tries to shove down my throat or if they force it into every single video of every single channel in YT, I'm still NEVER dowloading or playing their stupid video game.
Raid's Law holds that any game that spends as much money on marketing as Raid: Shadow Legends is not worth playing as it's either trash or filled with predatory microtransactions or both.
Fun fact: The day after the battle, Lt. Haruki flew over the sunken spot and dropped two wreaths of flowers. One for the Japanese pilots shot down and one for the British sailors for their bravery.
FUN fact? Really?
@@markobavdek9450 Sure the war is not fun, but knowing the Japanese honouring not only their deaths but also their enemies is nice for once
@@samuelsenjaya9331 rare example
@@samuelsenjaya9331 this is really rare
Like i never heard of any story doing so this is the first i heard
Japanese were honorable while the US military was quite racists back then
Also as a side note, that first torpedo hit to the Prince of Wales was fatal. That unbalanced propeller shaft tore her side open like a tin can.
Yup. And Prince of Wales's torpedo specialist even said they were going to do a torpedo attack much to the surprise of Philips.
@@TankerBricks Correct. Should have been mentioned, probably the most consequential hit on that day.
@@TankerBricks enemy torpedo bombers only reached the theatre a day or two before which is part of the reason the squadron was in more danger than they thought.
@@TankerBricks To be fair to Phillips it's not his fault he was given intel that turned out to be, lets be generous and just call it "errouneous".
He could only base his intentions on what he knew. Sadly they don't teach mind reading in the RN Academy.
It's such a beautiful thing that BazBattles is back to making content, i missed them so much! Absolutely my favorite history channel on CZcams!
Shame we have to wait so long.
Worth the wait!
Maybe you understand what they are saying, as this shit is dire
You now what is the programa that used?
To be fair to Phillips, he'd been told that Japanese planes couldn't fly this far. And, just as importantly, that he wouldn't have air cover available that fateful day.
The admiralty underestimated Japanese capabilites because they were a bunch of old, racist, white men.
It's so fascinating how time and again, luck and fog of war plays a crucial part in so many battles. Reconnaissance might not be a big department, in the grand scheme of a budget, but having sufficient recon elements is invaluable.
Absolutely love these WW2 naval battles, thank you for coming back!!
Great video. It's a shame you didn't mention that the reason HMS Prince of Wales was so severely damaged by the first torpedo strikes was because they struck at the sides of the ship where the shafts to the propellors were. This distorted them and the turbines kept them turning, gouging the ship with its own material. It was a hit eerily similar to the one that slowed Bismarck earlier that year.
Also, in a rare moment of honour by the Japanese, they did return the next day to drop wreaths in recognition of how skilfully HMS Repulse dodged so many bombs and torpedoes.
If you think about it, it looks like karma hit HMS PoW the same way Bismarck took damage on his propulsion system.
Seeing you upload new videos is like seeing my dad actually coming back with milk
I feel guilty for laughing😂😂😂
Frfr
So sorry for laughing mate.. just realized 😔
😭😭😭
plot twist: Baz is actually your father
Your WW2 battles are incredible to watch. I don't think anyone else does such high quality naval battles either. Awesome video!
Historigraph has some good WW2 naval content as well
Check out The Operations Room
Nobody does naval battles better than BazBattles. Hopefully he will cover the Battle of Leyte Gulf one day.
Yes the battle of leyte gulf is one of the most decisive naval battle of World War 2
@@Cat-0__Sicarius14hmm for the last legs of the ijn sure but it was guadalcanal. But since it was "one of" then its fine.

Captain William Tennant also oversaw the evacuation or over 300,000 British and allied troops from Dunkirk, just the year before. What a guy!
Later he was also in the British Pacific Fleet ❤
Love these naval battles. Thank you Baz!
Lol we said the same thing
Barris, when are you gonna make new videos! They were so good!
BazBattlez is just getting better and better! I love the narration Dan! The videos are wonderful to watch and the music is on point! Make more videos please!
Thanks, Randy! We're doing our best to get more content out for you guys. Appreciate the encouragement
These WW2 naval battles are absolutely AWESOME
when we less expect, he returns! the legend!
It's heartbreaking that both ships' graves were disturbed multiple times.
Yoink them
Hey it’s there an idiot like this Talking about something that hast nothing to do with the video ??
what happened to them?
@@andreascovano7742 illegal salvaging.
Same thing happened to Dutch shipwrecks. The Malaysian and Indonesian governments let these incidents silde. They were Imperialist ships protecting colonial possessions after all.
Lose of the battleship came just before the channel dash. Interesting in that the Channel Dash is a good antithesis to air dominance over battleship. This battle proves the battleships were vulnerable but even as early as the late 19th they knew that.
I wonder how many aircraft the germans sent to cover the ships? If I remember correctly the british sent about 200 aircraft against them, and in this video I find it weird the narrator didnt mention how many aircraft the japanese had sent,100 split between torpedo and level bombers maybe?
I heard that the Japanese planes that attacked the British ships were all land-based due to the fact that most carrier planes were busy elsewhere. Great video BazBattles. Nice to see you again.
I imagine they were busy with the Americans more.
Yeah, the carriers were busy coming from Pearl Harbor. these planes who atacked Wales and Repulse were all based in southern Vietnam
@@omegawolf2589---That would be reasonable to assume. Thanks for responding.
@@ricardoandre7049---Or it could've been Thailand. But hey thanks for responding.
@@brokenbridge6316 there were three Japanese bomber groups attacking the British task force and all of them stationed in Saigon, Vietnam. Recon floatplanes that deployed were not only searching for the fleet but also visual update from RAF fighters.
Thank you for the new videos! I missed these. Such great naration and the animation has come so far. Great to have you back BazzBattles.
Brilliant as always but worth pointing out - due to communications breakdowns the RAAF Brewsters weren't told to sit idle and wait, they were also flying sorties against the invasion further to the north and their "rest" was rotational to being on standby to Admiral Phillips.
Since their sinking, two silver candlesticks, one for each ship, have stood on the altar of St Andrew's Cathedral in Singapore, in memory of the brave sailors.
Beautiful video. This battle marked the end of the battleship era.
Battleships served valuable roles for 2 1/2 more years after this. The Battle of Surigao Straight marked the end of the battleship era.
Of the 32 battleships sunk in WWII, only 5 were sunk by aircraft alone while underway. More were sunk by other battleship's guns.
This was intense, like watching a movie.
These videos really make me understand about the naval history. Thank you so much for it Baz!
It's nice to see you back BazBattles! Dearly missed your vdos, particularly the ww2 ones :) greetings from Malta 🇲🇹
Oh hi Malta!, with greetings and loves from Malaysia! 🙂👋💐💕💕💕💕💕
It is a lazy friday morning somewhere on the internet. Relaxing on his day off, Carl Sailor sits idly clicking through CZcams, when suddenly he receives an urgent notification: BazBattles has just uploaded another video. All at once, he drops everything and clicks on the notification.
The Battle is about to begin...
Tennant is such an MVP, listening to torpedobeat non stop untill dirty cross droped.
Seeing Baz post the sinking of PoW and Repulse is like Christmas coming early
I live in Kuantan near the navy base and now moved to another place near the airforce base. There's alot of WW2 defense fotres alongside our beaches.
sorry for you bro
"All pilots. The enemy has no air cover. This will be a simple glorious victory!"
Hey I’ve missed you guys! Glad to see you guys again! Thanks for the amazing videos.
Im glad this channel shares in-depth events that wouldn’t be taught in a normal history class!
The initial torpedo hit on the HMS Prince of Wales, was even more fortuitous that the one that struck the rudders of the Bismarck 7 months earlier. If it had struck anywhere else than where it actually did, it's likely that PoW's torpedo defence design would have shrugged off the blast. As it was the torpedo hit the support stanchion of the port outermost propeller shaft. This relatively unimportant looking piece of steelwork actually kept the propeller shaft in solid, correct alignment as it passed through various bearings, seals and "stuffing boxes" as it made its way from the ship's engines out of the hull to the propeller itself.
With the support stanchion blown away, the now unsupported rapidly spinning propeller shaft oscillated and flexed wildly and in doing so tore apart all of the various hull seals and bearings along its length, destroying the water integrity of sealed compartment after sealed compartment throughout the aft of the ship, meaning that as opposed to one or two compartments/tanks being flooded, a far greater proportion of PoW's integrity was destroyed, on top of which the flooding shut down multiple electrical generators thereby knocking out of action many of PoW's systems, the most vital of which in the emergency flooding situation she then faced being her pumping and ballast systems.
Also the absence of the RN armoured aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable, which on the 3rd November 1941, had been damaged in the Carribean as she was about to redeploy to Singapore was a major contributory factor to these events.
"... the exhaust port is only 2 meters wide..."
@@joshDammmit Aye, the Japanese pilots were certainly "using the force" that morning... (as an aside, Brit hating YT freely lets you type "Brit", but if you DARE to type in "J - a - p" ... just watch your post get deleted).
Thankyou for coming back with your amazing narratives baz
Really appreciate the video. Its nice to see highlight of battles near my country's coast, more so a naval battle. Keep up the good work 😁

Me: I already know all the major battles of WII. I'm a bit of an historian myself...
BazBattles: Hold my HMS Prince of Wales.
An interesting side note, Prince of Wales was the only ship of the King George V class battleships lost to enemy action. The rest were scrapped at the end of the war.
@@Luis-be9mi She was the unlucky ship of the class, and it seems that poor luck is extending to its modern namesake with propeller issues

Welcome back... glad to see a new vid!
Hello , so some facts about kuantan . Kuantan is a city on the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula . It has its own airport but only serves local flights only . Kuantan is part of the state of Pahang . It is also the home of the legislative body for the state of pahang . Like in the USA , each state has its own governor , a legislative body and elected official to run the office . However Malaysians call the governor as MENTERI BESAR .
Man I love these naval battle videos.
Wow, welcome back Baz!!
Glad Baz is back.

Good to have you back!
Still waiting for the Leyte Gulf episode but all in good time I guess :D
Hey, did not notice that you where back! Great to see!
HMS Indomitable was working up her air group when she ran aground, as far as I am aware she had not received orders to proceed to Singapore prior and she had not appear in force projection for December, she was the available carrier but I doubt there was ever any possibility of her join Force Z in time to sortie with Phillips on the 9th
Amazing content, as always!
