With the odds of the blaster being 1:99 for a gold you would have to buy 14 boxes at $25 and that would be roughly $350 just to pull one gold. If you bought two Jumbo's at 170 it would cost you $340 and you'd most likely pull 4 golds. Obviously I didn't include taxes but for $10 less you're likely to get three more golds. Plus you have better odds on every other hit as well. Do not waste your money on retail 😜

I love seeing the 88 Design, I have so many of these cards at home. I was about 7 years old at the time and my grandpa always bought them for me. I'm going to have to load up on the 1988 cards now, thanks for opening Jabs!
My favorite rookie this year is Oscar Gonzalez. I became a big fan of his during 2020. I bought a ton of his 1st bowman cards and pulled his gold auto in a group break. Hope he has an awesome year.
I LOVE the 1988 Topps design. Those were the first card I ever bought as a kid, and it's very fun to see them.

Other ppl were ripping 2023 series 1 but Jabs is my go-to for baseball cards. 👌
I got a hobby box a couple of days ago on a presell from Dave and Adam's. I love the design and the All Aces insert is genius. That said, this box I broke may have been the worst box I've ever broken. I'm not concerned with the hit but there aren't many inserts in a hobby box any more and the one card I wanted was one of the only cards I didn't get. No JRod=bad box. Guess I go back to Jumbos.
I just bought a hobby box and it's still sealed and sitting. Wondering if I should rip, resell and maybe make $5, or put packs in mystery repacks. I am about 40 cards from completing the set so I may just rip and try to complete it lol

Topps did sell jumbo boxes on their website actually, its sold out of course haha.
Hayes reminds me of Hayward and McCutchen. He will likely be known as a great defender with a couple good offensive seasons and given what I know about his temperament, he will, again like Heyward and McChuchen, be a team leader in the clubhouse. All great dudes who just didn’t have all the talent in the world on both sides of the diamond. Great players who will be well short of the hall barring some sort of crazy hardware (e.g., WS MVP, Gold/Platinum gloves, etc.).
I think this fits the fanatics mold of promoting hobby shops. Making the hobby products more desirable than the retail products. I think it’s a big W
I think they over corrected. Odds in Hangers are obscene. Basically, they upped the total print run, but made the hobby and jumbo much better. They could have improved those and not completely destroyed retail. Really no point in buying them outside of it being the cheapest way to build the set via packs/boxes. But I am glad they made Hobby and Jumbo better than it was last year, because that was atrocious.
Topps is selling Jumbo on the website. Just got one when they went live.
Love to see that topps is utilizing their partnership with MLB The Show on the “Welcome to the Club” cards. MLBTS implemented these into their game last year. Great stuff, can’t wait for my jumbos to come in!
Don’t forget about Oscar Gonzalez he had a really nice season last year for CLE looking forward to seeing what else he can produce this year

i pulled 29 damaged cards from the print rollers, 2 lines running length of the cards, 2 wanders damaged, got those in a jumbo. nice design. paid 150 jumbo 80 hobby

I learned my lesson with spending hundreds on Topps update retail this past year. I’m never gonna buy retail again. Unless I just see one out it the wild then I will, but no more chasing for me with retail.

I pre ordered a hobby box but wish I would’ve went with jumbo. I noticed blowout either sold out or pulled them off their site. I’m assuming the latter and when prices normalize in few days they’ll pop back up. And I absolutely love 2023 design, probably my favorite since 2018

I actually was able to score 1 jumbo box off Topps website today for $150. Was really surprised topps had them bc they normally don’t sell jumbos/hta thru the website.

I noticed that Aaron Judge's card number is 62. That was how many home runs he hit to pass Rodger Maris.
I love this set and I might buy one of these jumbo boxes. The best pull I got from 2 blaster boxes I got at a show was a vintage stock card. Nothing special since I had never even heard of the guy. Neverless, I love how they put one team relic card in every blaster box, when I first opened a blaster box I didn’t look at the back and I thought it was something special. 😂
To pull a gold out of a blaster it's 1:99 out of jumbo it's 1:4 retail is definitely out of the question this year I bought six blasts before knowing any of the odds.

Just picked up four of these boxes from topps for 150 a piece as an investment.
Check the back of your 88 cards. They have parallels printed on the 88 card stock numbered to 88 and they don't put them upside down, the first pack in the first blaster box I opened had an 88topps Trout, when I was checking it out I saw it was numbered to 88

40/40..... Check Bobby Bonds stats back in the day, twice or so he was a either 2 away on HR's or SB's. Back then player were for the team and the win and not for the personal accolades. I'm sure if were important he would have achieved it.

They finally did what they should have done before paying more should result in better odds, retail is still fun and cool though
NBA Hoops had a white, slightly translucent wrapping and I got two David Robinson Rookie cards. The owner made me stop. LOL
The box toppers are 1988 Mimi leaders not 1986. Both had the same design on the front(probably not a lot of thought/design put into a set aimed at kids) and backs but the 86 had pink backs whereas the 88 had blue backs. As the Vlad has a blue back and the 1988 design is this year’s feature throwback I believe the intention was a 1988 league leaders design.
Edit: the backs are not identical. 1988 has a portrait on the back, 1986 does not. Tried to post a comparison but can’t for some reason.
I've now seen all formats and the gap between jumbo and all other formats is vast. Jumbo gets a 9/10, hobby 6/10, hangers 2/10... last and least blasters 1/10. Glad I pre ordered jumbos. Love the design of these cards so if not for that, blasters would be a zero. Won't be buying retail for this product. Thanks for the vids, Jabs!

I got Gunnar Henderson in my first hobby pack
Ripped through my hobby box earlier today and every pack had 5 cards flipped the other direction, tons of duplicates, 2 rainbows, 1 gold, a numbered commemorative relic, and about it, pretty disappointed, looks like Jabs had a normal box, was expecting him to be annoyed with all the card flipping needing to be done
I'm gonna be pretty critical on these options. Jumbo of course seems the best odds for hits but to me it just seems like a bunch of filler. If the Jumbos go up in price it's really not gonna be worth the money. Hobby looks the same as retail. Sure you get better odds but I just don't see it.

Overall, great looking cards that deserve an A. Since Topps lowered the odds of getting parallels and numbered cards in retail products, I'll give 2023 an overall grade of C+.
I don't have the financial means to drop $75 to $200 at a time for cards, so I'll just keep buying 2022 Series 2 and Update until they're nowhere to be found. If the 2023 Topps Heritage are the 1974 design, I'll happily buy those since that is the first year I collected cards as a 13 year old. I haven't been able to find a release date or any info on them yet.

I’m pretty new to collecting and I’m curious with everyone saying how bad the odds are this year why doesn’t everyone just wait for chrome or update? Seems like these paper cards rarely hold any value after the initial hype wears off.
You got to look on the back of every single card to see if you got an SSP
