    I met Buddy at his club in Chicago, played pool against him. Asked him (tentatively) about Stevie. He said he was the greatest to pick up a guitar. From Buddy Guy? That's testament right there!

    When Stevie passed, Buddy had to cancel some shows because he was so distraught. He and Stevie were tight.

      I heard that buddy called him his best friend Stevie Ray was a good guy really nice I hate being abused by his father his father was a drunk bless his heart he was a real nice guy and I heard that his brother how to temper he wants told Stevie you ever play any of my stuff I'm going to kick your butt but he didn't and Stevie Ray did just brothers being Brothers the guitarists are funny about playing the way they do Dallas really grieve when he died imagine the whole state did but Stevie was our son rest in peace Stevie God bless you!

      I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin August 26th 1990 and Buddy Guy also played that night. The lineup was Eric Clapton, SRV, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy.

    Stevie had so much respect when he played with these blues legends he almost never cut loose on the guitar until he was "invited" - one time Albert King had to openly coax stevie to cut loose on the guitar--lol

    I'm a huge fan of SRV but i saw my man Buddy Guy in Tallahassee, FL in 1993 and he came into the audience and i was able to give him a pat on the back as he walked right past me. What a great concert.

    Stevie loved playing with all his heroes he grew up listening to. Every interview he did he spoke about the blues legends he loved. in some ways Stevie brought the blues back into the 80/90s. He was a humble good man and genius on the guitar.

    Since you're loving the blues piano, you need to check out SRV Look At Little Sister at Austin City Limits. Reese Wynans, Double Trouble's piano player, is a beast, and you get the added bonus of watching Stevie play half a solo with a broken string and then change guitars while he's singing without missing a beat. Amazing.

    Thank you for your reaction. I'm a proud Canadian and I consider his performance in Toronto at the El Macambo in 1983 amongst his finest work. Particularly, Jimi Hendricks' 'Little Wings'.

    I miss Stevie. 30 years. I also miss Buddy. Having grown up near Chitown, I'd seen him a few times - always a great show (out of both). Buddy's got a club called Legends in Chicago. Thanks for the video!

    It’s good to see you watch something that you genially enjoy . “Been watching you for a lil bit now “ and you always seem to like what you watch , but this resinated with you lol . I love Stevie ray and it’s great to watch others who dig it . “ I’m in my Late 20’s and never herd a lick of blues till 4 years ago and it was Stevie lol never knew how much I’d like it but watching you watch it reminds me of when I first did .

    One of the biggest Stevie Ray songs was “Pride and Joy” but my personal favorite was “Willie the Wimp” based on a true story of a Chicago heroine dealer.

    After SRV made it he wasbooked to play at a show, and they had some of the older blues guys booked too to on to go after him. He told them I will open for them, they will never go last. He respected the goats of the blues.

    Done 31 years ago. Stevie would pass the next year. Buddy is now over 80 and still doing it. If you've never seen him, get it now. He won't be here forever. I wish he could, but...

    I love love lovvvvvvve, going to a blues bar with friends, and just chilling. Blues is special, like no other music out there. Personally, my favorite blues is from black artist, they just have a style, a sound, that makes blues, blues. I also prefer older blues over present day blues.

    I saw Buddy Guy as one of the openers in the BB King blues festival. Obviously BB was a legend and an honor to experience... but Buddy might have stole the show. He was playing the guitar with a drumstick and whipping it with his cable. Incredible performer.

    I clearly, clearly remember the day we lost SRV. But Buddy's still playing and working the scene. I had tickets to see him this June...but because Covid, it was pushed to October...and now next spring. I'm praying I get one more chance to see him play live.

    Buddy guys bar was across the street from my high school in chicago, I got to play there one time in my jazz band and it was awsome. I wasn't old enough to drink then but I was old enough to rock out there! Lol. But it's an awsome bar if you ever decide to go there i recommend it. There's guitars across the bar and some are signed by buddy guy himself and stevie and other great blues artist! Its truly a great place and I hope all of you get to enjoy it with live music!

    SRV grew up in the Blues clubs of Texas. As a teen he was playing, on stage, with some of the biggest names in Delta Blues. Buddy called him his white son, on stage one night to introduce him.

    Nice one dude. I remember downloading the like 23 minute version from OG Napster over 20 years ago. I thought it was with Albert King but this sounds the the same. Voodoo Chile from Austin City Limits where the guy restrings him while he is playing is good too.

    Buddy is 83 and still doing it!
    He played with Muddy Waters and Jimmy Hendrix was influenced by him. Reese Wynans was SRV’s piano player who recently plays with Joe Bonamassa, but I’m not sure if this was his band or Buddy Guy’s band.

    I just searched ur vids and didn’t see “life without you” 9/21/ 1985, live , capital theater, Passaic, New Jersey.....YOU, will absolutely LOVE it....this was a while ago, don’t know if ur still doing SRV, but, shit, check,it out on ur own time...it’ll blow ur mind...it’s as gnarly as texas flood....it’s the nastiest, and dirtiest I’ve ever seen him, and a VERY famous performance..great channel:D

    I’ve got a couple of black/white blues duos I can highly recommend. John Lee Hooker and Bonnie Raitt doing In The Mood. Nobody is as cool as John Lee. And Albert King with Stevie Ray - anything they did is cool, but I really like Born Under a Bad Sign and The Sky is Crying. Any of that is well worth your time.

    Check out Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa, I’d Rather Go Blind. Bluesy and Joe is phenomenal on the guitar. Beth Hart just oozes soul singing this song.

    I have the pleasure of Stevie being related to my family. (By marriage) Supposedly we was a dick to my father in law, and they never got along. lol. But Stevie is/was extremely talented, none deny that. Jimmy Vaughan still comes to our family reunions when they happen, so I'm thankful.
