- WET WIPES GO IN THE GARBAGE NOT THE TOILET.
Many cruisers think the bathroom on cruise ships work just like they do at home. Nothing could be farther from the truth. If you thow something into the toilet that does not belong. You be be in for a dirty and smelly cruise.
They aren’t even safe for home plumbing
I won't even put them in my home plumbing - toss them in the trash!
Quick Tip Don, I carry ziplock bags for every day of my cruise. That way my cleanup wipes are covered then placed into the trash. Like my cabin steward, too much to put uncovered wipes in the trashcan.
Me too!
Me too!
Thx, great tip
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Yes please don't use wipes, and they don't work at home either. I think they should remove "flushable" from their labels
Yessss!
I don't let them be flushed at home either. We have a septic system, and they don't dissolve like toilet paper and fill up your tank, which can cause a backup!!
No matter what they advertise, wet wipes are *not* safe to flush down *any* toilet, unless you don't mind having a clogged/backed up toilet/pipe, etc., sometime down the line. Ask any plumber or city pipes maintenance person...
Yes,this is good advice.
Nothing worse than backups in a cruise 😮 Good sense.
Yes, thank you for the advice
Yes. You do not want those toilets backed up.
Now that’s a tip I can really get behind 👍🧐🤣
Good advice
Remember that cruise employees sort through trash and waste for recycling/ sorting, so please use the provided small bags for sanitary items so they don’t get a surprise
We had major problems cruising in Asia. Lots of cabins affected many times because of wipes!
A crew member once told be that’s why some toilets will overflow and flood the room.
Always great tips from you.
Yikes, you definitely don't want toilets backing up on your cruise!
Good tip
Thanks for the tips
There was a toilet blockage on my cruise because of these wipes-urg!!
There are little bags in the bathroom for those wipes. Just let your room Stewart know when you need more. Believe me a backed up toilet is no fun on a cruise.
I agree, never flush wet wipes
Wet wipes aren't used for going to the bathroom. They're for cleaning your hands after if you don't have soap and water. Which you do have in your cabin.
I think he's also referring to the baby wet wipes that some people use instead of toilet paper.
Dont flush anything other than what is provided anywhere....
Don't mess with delicate plumbing!
Other than toilet paper, anything else that indicates “flushable” are really flushable not even at home.
I was just telling someone on a Facebook group. They said they were taking their own toilet paper.
Whenever , wherever you travel you need to follow bathroom etiquette, even when it’s unusual or exotic…..
I hate those things. I have residential rentals and I had a major plumbing issues with the "septic safe" wipes. Hate them!!!!
Don some people just do not have any common sense. It only took over 33 years as a police officer and paramedic to find this out.
we never uses those wipes. Thanks for the tip.
Its the irresponsible parents that bring their baby on board.
Even if they say safe for septic systems, such wipes are not good for home plumbing.
We found out that the plumbing is so sensitive, don't even flush one of the tissues from the box that is in the bathroom. My husband blew his nose and figured since the box was right near the toilet and the tissues were thin, it would be safe to flush. Nope!! We had to contact our room steward and he got maintenance up to fix whatever needed to be fixed. Oops, toilet paper only!!
I know it sound like common sense but you will be surprise how many people do something like that not thinking. Good tip.
I guess sime people flush those wet wipes at home, I have seen public setvice announcement to dispose in trash only
Wet wipes don't breakdown or dissolve even the flushable brands clog the city systems so they would do the same on a ship
‘Flushable’ - don’t believe everything you read. 😊
I’ve lived the wet wipe nightmare. I used to work in the wastewater treatment and collection industry. I shudder to think of all the times I had unclog pumps jammed up with these “flushable” wipes.
This tip I knew
Hi Don.
If you use the flushable ones in a regular toilet, it is fine but don't do it in all toilets.
The toilet paper is awful, would be nice if with all their advances with cruise ships, they would improve plumbing. They do clog up easily- be sure to put those wet wipes in the sanitary bag also provided.
Yes never never flush wet wipes . Throw in garbage
If I use wet wipes they definitely go into trash in a zip lock bag or a bag of sorts. I don't flush those at home so why on a cruise
I love wet wipes but don’t trust the flushable ones. Definitely not taking a chance on a ship or my home. The steward will give numerous sanitary bags.
Don. I have a QUESTION. HOW come they don’t use garbage bags in the cabins? Is it just to cut down on plastic? Seems changing and cleaning the garbage pails would be faster if there were bags. 🤷🏻♀️
Those things are terrible for regular plumbing and the environment.
The TP provided by the ship sucks but what are you going to do.
Wassup
Not even safe to flush them in our home plumbing
Use your head 🚽
I would not put wipes at home they go in trash
Don...you gotta follow this up with a Metamucil video.😂
This video just stinks... LOL
