Masterpiece should be taught in music appreciation courses worldwide. The beauty of all the instruments speaking to each other ln such great harmony. The truth of the lyrics. It couldn't have been more appropriately named, Masterpiece.
I agree very much!!!
I second that emotion to everything you said and pulse it would great if this was taught in all music classes or at least listened too because of all the different instruments that are being played
Finally after 40+ years I listened again 2 to this MASTERPEACE"
💯
And no one has ever written a comment as sublime as yours. A masterpiece in its own. ❤
ABSOLUTELY 💯Well said!
they couldn't make music like this today no matter how hard they tried. This is truly a Masterpiece !
I put on my earphones and listen every instrument played in this masterpiece, and with my eyes closed, I feel every note caressing my soul, a classic
Yesssss indeed it does just that❤😊
bad ass tune and message for the inner city lost world.. the forgotten people in the inner city blues.
The genius that Norman Whitfield was will forever live in his music!
THEY ARE ALL...GREATS IN FACT. THE SEVENTIES IS THE VERY BEST TIME IN THE ENTERTAINMENT HISTORY.......THIS IS NOT a "DJ" MUSIC....This is a real Music, with real instruments and ...VOICES.A Great Thanks for That.
Pat when I was learning to Dj when dj culture and dance music was called R&B "Masterpiece" and "Plastic Man" were staples in the (dare I say it?), discos.
Classic. One of my all-time favorites. I am 75 ...
50 years later, every word of the lyrics is still relevant.
I once thought I liked MC Hammer's version..
For the same reason.
I still give that a play once in while.
Those 70's violins and bass! This is and will be a masterpiece forever!
Yes it will. I was in high school when this came out in Feb, 1973. Great memories.
Hell yeah! That's what grabs ya

Bob Babbitt on bass. Phenomenal.
We used to hang around in plantation club in Frankfurt here great stuff like this, music you had never heard before. I'm so greatful because I experienced all this.
Long live the Temptations! They were 100% GOLD!!!!!
Born, and raised five blocks from the Motown Studio, in Detroit, it is as if Norman Whitfield knew everything, and every aspect, of my life, in his songs.
❤ Loved the words, which are still relevant today,+ The Music was a Masterpiece
This is one album that transcends time because we never get tired of listening to it, and Masterpiece is the best name for it, like a Masterpiece of art and sculpture
Truly a masterpiece!! Norman Whitefield was truly underrated genuis! No one today writes like this!
Simple the best. One of the most over looked songs in the history of R&B/Pop music history. The Temptations are icons of soul and their music will live on for years to come. Good music never fades.
This is truly a MASTERPIECE 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🥶🥶🥶🥶💯
I remember buying this as a teen. It was a eight track, I played it to death. Temptation are the greatest vocal group ever.
My absolute all time favorite piece of music!!
This song is a DJ's Masterpiece. Damn near 20 minutes long. The best bathroom break and food break song EVER!!!
I love music and I can’t believe this is my first time being introduced to this song! I met a great man recently. He sent me this to listen to. I am blown away. What a story to tell our family if we get married. It has to be a song at our wedding. Smooth!
It really is the Masterpiece ! Es ist wirklich das Meisterstück! Danke dafür.
after about 50 years ,
i still love this song !!!
Growing up in 70s couldn't stop listening to this great music
Temptations and war
was my favorite groups
This has to be the best album of all time.
As someone correctly stated that even the instruments are talking to each other...just wonderful.
masterpiece , j'avais 16 ans quand c'est sorti , inoubliable chef-d'oeuvre à écouter en boucle !!
This was a true masterpiece! The kind of son that could and still can take your mind off of your troubles and set your mind at ease! A beautiful piece!
Thank you, I was young when I found my late father's tape with this song and no labels on it. I just stumbled on this video and for the first time in 20 years I'm listening to the song. Now I'm feeling emotional! 😇🙏🏾
This is one of the few music that was created for music lovers. They dont music like this Masterpiece like this anymore with full of passion and love. Listen to this with your eyes closed and you will feel relaxed from the world problems that exists around us each day
Ya lo creo que es una obra maestra. Gran conjunción de sonidos.
Had this song on 45rpm back in the 70s. 1973c.
The first time I heard this song ( early 70's ) I fell in love with it to this day. Classic !
Yep... this piece never gets old. Listeners these days don't know what they're missing..
A masterpiece indeed. No more words to say.
I was a teen when this came out. My younger brother-always a step ahead of his time (and me)-bought the record, with its bas relief cover portrait of the guys. Mind-blowing. I had the good fortune to introduce my son to “Masterpiece” via that very same LP!
White Front store, South Central LA in the 70s, shopping, this was played on the PA, looked like the whole store was swaying rhythmically in unison!
A very special memory!
Always loved this jam about urban life. Norman Whitfield was a prolific producer! 💖💗💞💞💯💥👍🏾✊🏾✌🏾🙏🏾
You gotta listen to all the instruments talking to each other. It's so smooth....the rhythm and the words tell you a true story together...
Way too many people listen only to the words, not the instruments. But, I play the piano and I believe once you have played a musical instrument ... That is what you always hear. Least that has been the way for me. The instrumentation in this song is beyond awesome ... It simply goes all the way to Out There Somewhere!!!!!!!!!
That's great music both instrumental and vocals

13 minutes et 35 seconds de vol au -dessus des
nuages multicouleurs................Un inoubliable chef d’œuvre:
The real sound of instruments speaking in there on time, extradinair !
This would be the last top 10 hit from the classic lineup of the Temps (they would share one more in 1991 with Rod Stewart but not with the same members) The group were absolute masters of socially conscious songs dealing with real world issues. Melvin Franklin's deep baritone voice (at 4:58) is one of the best. 1973 was a memorable year for music.
Unfortunately what is talked about here hasn't changed much at all in these last 50 years.
Timeless!...Close Your eyes and Youre straight back in the 70s!!👍👍from Holland!!!
A stone classic masterpiece! A huge sizeable diamond among the biggest, and best diamonds in the world.
In South Africa we used to sing and say "skhebereshe woza la, nami ngiyayifuna ikonfyt" you'll understand only when you understand the language, that's back in the days. Classic!
Die LP, eine der besten der Popmusik, steht in der Hall of Fame meiner Plattensammlung :-)
hi everyone, As a 56 year young Belgian lover off the black sound, i still have the original LP since i was 16 years old; that music is nostalgia, real music, real musicians, right from the soul.
jean-marie Verhell
Aman to that
yOU bELGIANS SHOULD STICK TO MAKIN PANCAKES* Brothers aint impressed by you liking their jams
@@trotptkabasnbi6655 why does it have to be different for a Belgian? What makes you judge, jury. and executioner on this matter? You don't have a clue so not going to try to explain anything. You should already know that music is a form of language that speaks to us all and has no boundaries as far as age, money, race, or anything! Brother....
@@trotptkabasnbi6655 Don;t be an asswipe. The man is expressing his love of the music. You are simply spewing hatred & ignorance. Grow up.
Still the MASTERPIECE of music after over 40 years and is still going strong
I had forgotten just how cool this music is , wow sounds even better after 40 years .
I played drums on this track, as well as "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". Plus, several Temptation albums.
Norman Whitfield WAS the Man!
Thanks, Aaron!!!
Aaron Smith site was a lot of excitement and fun growing up in Detroit!
Cool drumming under the beat letting the message come through. I say this was a great time in music. The Temps, well, they were in the cockpit of understanding of what was what.
DETROIT
No they weren't. If they were able to understand obvious things, they never would fire Norman Whitfield, who made them really great.
A FOREVERMORE AWESOME MAGNIFICENT CLASSIC 💪🏾
This song is truly a masterpiece of funky soul with a message that is still relevant to this very day!
It is one of the greatest songs by the mighty Tempts!

My favorite Temptations track of all time! I wish it went on forever...
👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👌🏾
This Album was properly named! I fell in love with this Jam the first time I ever heard it.....but heck, all the Temps Jams were incredible!
This tune is an incredible piece of work. I believe on vinyl it takes up over 85% of 1 side of the album. With hey girl the only other track on that side. A firm favourite of my father's that he played throughout the 70's and at house parties too. Norman Whitfield working analogue magic. In my mind's eye I can see my dad playing this tune, dancing with his fists clenched and sweat pouring down his vest as he grooved!
2020 Brooklyn NYC We did not have a lot but are music was rich and it supported our dreams our struggle. 💙DR.
Never out of fashion.excellent
Memories of 1973. What a masterpiece! Released on February 10, 1973, reaching # 7 on April 28.
On my birthday
And 50 years later, it's still a "MASTERPIECE!"

this is one of my Fave Tracks saved on my smartphone . So glad I grew up in that era of amazing and Awesome music then
While in the Army, Europe in 1973 I bought this album... brought it home and (after wearing it out!) come to youtube to fill my ears every so often! As Beautiful now as it was then...
I am with you. I threw out my 8 track tape deck, due to no tapes were being made anymore and I never got the cassette version. But when a CD version came out, I was 'on it'! I got my album and jam as often as I can with my headphones.
This is a master piece
The first album my husband bought for me, when we first met in the sixties. I had a portable record player, and would play these songs over and over again in bed.
One of the greatest albums ever, by one of the greatest groups and one of the greatest Writers/Producers/Arrangers. Yehhhhh!
No more words...This is a real MASTERPIECE.
I 'd forgotten about this piece o f master. Old is Gold
This great album was me and my late wifes special album, if you know what I mean ❤️

This song must be in the World's book of records for music's longest intro!!
Excellent.!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought this L.P. in '74 in Hammersmith, and then saw them one year later....................have never forgotten, and still listen to "The Temptations"
This is one long but badass song!! Love the Temptations!!
Loved that era, I feel so lucky to have been around, when there was so much great music, played by highly talented musicians, who knew how to make people feel good. Funk Bros Rock..
Makes me cry, Just to think , After all these years The truth to it's Master Peace, Is still going on today, It's in everyday thing, In td Getto, And nobody really cares to what goes on , Not even you ! Are do you ?
Too Cool Man! Partied to this a lot in the 60s and 70s. And I'm a 68 year old white man now. Thanks for the memories when music was music!
Super funk. A wonderful production
I was a young Armenian boy in Beirut (Lebanon), listening to this...& LOOOOOVING it.
I'm much older now...& in California...but nothing else has changed. It still gives me goosebumps.
You are just enjoying the music 🎶 release all you need to music and you will feel better believe 🙏
I'm still in love with this music. now that I'm 80 years old it is even better listening. You know, it tells a story of ghetto life. And the Black man's plight.
When this was released i saw the album in every window of every recordshop and i thought "ain't that a bit over the top?" And now more than 40 years later i say: this was a masterpiece. 'Course it is a Norman Witfield project, with a relatively small contribution of the Temptations to the production i mean, 'course not to the performance which is splendid as ever. Great piece of music.
It is still a masterpiece and kept us going with its tune. There were even township lyrics created for this song.

Paul Riser was another talented Temptations”. Producer,he felled to tech the plateau with Norman Whitfield

I listen to old school music with my Papa .....Temps one of his favorite groups !!
Soul touching instrumental dance .. mystery in the blend of heavenly hisses and sound .. scintilating ..

" THE " best group of all time.

Time fans to admit this HIT UNIT could match the boys of the Classic Five
The best album, I remember my 20ye years old
WHEN THEY LABLED THIS THE MASTERPIECE, THEY WAS RIGHT ON THE TARGET=BRILLANT ! BEEN LISTENING SINCE 1964, TO MOTOWN !
Right and a man
This is absolutely timeless,a truly wonderful Masterpiece..!!!!
The music of that Masterpiece era will live on in the memories of those of us who lived during that period. Some of the most beautiful musical arrangements ever recorded. The musical arrangements and the lyrical composition were beyond compare given the tumultuous times in which we lived. Beginning with the racial climate, the World Wide fear of Communism, the living room war that was brought into our homes every night, and the loss of innocence of one generation is without a doubt devastating at the very least...
Lovely now let me hear you say now that ain't right that voice is commanding
