Nice job on the video. To be fair to the original tool, the nut was damaged but as a rescue tool it’s a great thing. One word to those watching out there is that you can easily over torque through those pipe tools and break OFF the section that the nut screws into. and if in doubt replace the nut, future you will thank you for your efforts. ✌️

Well, the original tool didn't work with the GOOD nut to INSTALL it... The nut has a taper on both sides of that slot, whereas the tool does not fit that taper... It has no taper, so it would only contact just the very outer edges of the slot - and it seemed a bit too big. So, EMPI's tool is not a good choice for this, maybe the original one would be best. In any case, you're right - you need to be careful and not over-torque that. You just want it snug so it won't turn and the seal is firmly in place.

I would be a bit concerned about any metal shavings that internal pipe wrench might cut into the nut and end up in the sump. I would rather make a tool that fit proper. The same part I have is an original and it does not have tapered notches.

Good job!! I never tried to remove one yet!

The tool they have should be made to actually fit inside that nut, but the one I got (EMPI) did not. But, that being said, the internal pipe wrench worked well!!

Nice video. One question; where did you buy the gasket?

I got it from a local VW supply store (Bob's VW). But you can order them online from a lot of VW- parts websites.
