      agreed but i guess her family maybe didnt like the fact he was so keen to make her a mother when she was still enjoying her life. I think thats probably what the issue was. Still though they really should have been so much more supportive of him, he never should have been so alone and distraught that he turned to drugs.

    • @emilie9081
      @emilie9081 Před 3 lety +209

      That's true, but we also don't really know what John and Anita's relationship was like behind closed doors. He could have been in absolute bits by her passing, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a toxic love either. He seemed eager to impregnate her before she was ready, and I was surprised to find out that only 3 years after meeting Anita needed a break from "all the fighting"... For example, my ex would have been absolutely destroyed if I passed, especially in a similar way, and a lot of John's coping mechanisms reminded me of my his. However, my ex was abusive and truly had a very toxic love/obsession for me; I felt a prisoner in my relationship. My parents did not like him at all and would not have supported him through my loss had that happened to me, and I wouldn't have wanted them to either. BUT, I'm definitely not assuming that John is like that; it's just to give you a different perspective :)

      Yeah it's a tough one. Anita's dad said that Anita had said that she loved John but the relationship was over. Her friends also said that he would call her a lot and she never really called him. Without being to be able to talk to Anita it's really hard to know where the truth lies. John says they were going to get back together, but were they really? Is that what was happening or was he desperately hoping?

    I honestly find sexual assault to be the most heinous crime out there. It's awful. I can find somewhat of a decent reason for people to commit most types of crime except this. This may be controversial, but the rapist deserved the barbed wire in the ass. I don't feel sorry for him at all. What him and the other men did is atrocious. It amazes me how some inmates can be so creative with beating other inmates. My morbid mind is curious as to how the got it out of him

The monster(s) that hurt you have basically killed who you were and who you are after is left to try to heal and pick up the pieces and figure out where to go from there. It's especially bad if you get no justice and know your abuser is still walking free while you suffer the aftermath of their crimes.

    As an Australian I would like to say thank you so much for covering this devastating tragedy. I remember I was 13 at the time, I witnessed so many people had signs up everywhere demanding the hanging of these vile creatures. I once saw a cattle truck from the slaughter yards with huge white tarps with the words “ HANG THE BASTARDS” in huge lettering. That’s when I first heard about this horrific event as I asked what the truck signage was all about. It totally shocked and disgusted me at the time and the memory of seeing that truck has never left me. I’m so very glad they were all arrested and made to take accountability for their appalling and cowardly behaviour and actions. No one deserves what happened to this beautiful young woman and they deserved every single beating and every attack they ever received. Thankfully her parents and loved ones got the justice they so deserved knowing these monsters will never see the outside ever again. Big kudos to the aunt for helping so much for the interrogation. It must have been really hard to just *know* your nephew who you raised was a murderer. God bless her heart.

    i genuinely teared up with that segment with John. i'm not the type to do that in true crime cases so kudos to you Eleanor for having so much grace when delivering these scripts and stories. i hope John's living a good life now :'( 💞💖

    Great job Eleanor, thank you for education us on this case and keeping Anita’s memory alive 💜

    poor Anita...what happened to her was horrible doubly so because it was so unpredictable and...random. and she was so young and just about to get back together with her husband and get a new home. Things were looking up for her, her future was bright but these monsters decided to take it away from her. and from her loved ones. It's heartbreaking and I'm glad these men are in prison.
