- Perhaps the best Marshall I've played. 1967 Marshall Plexi 1992 Super bass with a 1982A Marshall 4x12 with G12H25 (!) Pulsonic Celestion Greenbacks and Silverbacks (so cabs may be from early 68). I play it with a 1973 Fender Stratocaster (Alder) with 1976 Pickups.

This sounds absolutely incredible, and I'm extremely picky about tones. This might be one of the best clean tones I've ever heard recorded on CZcams.

Fender 59 Bassman amazing amp no doubt, same goes for JTM, SLP, JMP, JCM , Origin, etc etc, but when you compare all those amps with The Super Bass, honestly, the cleans are better on the SB, the overdrive is better on the SB, the 3D sound is better on the SB is just better all around
This is thee perfect amp, this is the best amp ever made, long ago I had the chance to play one and just reacted in a way like the amp was alive, like no other vintage amp ever, the bass, mid and treble content was just perfect !!!

Totally agree that it's the best Marshall sound ever. I'm not of fan of the Marshalls that came in by the later 70s and onward. For me Marshall peaked with the SB and then started to go downhill fast. If someone gave me some JCM that was owned and signed by some famous guitar player, I would immediately sell it to the first overzealous fanboy with more money than brains, and then I'd buy A Super Bass. (and a Tweed Deluxe, and a Brownface Princeton, and a ... and a ... )

It's as close to Hendrix as I've heard. That head and those speakers marry perfectly to create a very harmonically rich tone. You can hear the chime of the single coils yet it's very warm and full too. It's a perfect balance.

That's the sound I was searching for in this last 30 years when.i discovered Hendrix sound. Best clean tone has the best results with the ( few) pedals Hendrix used , but overall is the most responsive to the touch when played in wild mode and crazy volumes..
Sounds so good! That amp has plenty of headroom and if you listen carefully the greenbacks give the sting (sizzle) slightly after the pick hits the string, very pleasing to the ear
Johan your channel is the has the best demonstrations of Marshall Plexi's on all of youtube. And it's not like you only made one; you come out with video after video with monster Marshall tone that really gives those amps the credit they deserve. Those Plexi's are the best amps in history.

My super lead from that era was super clean too, needed the coloursound tone bender fuzz to "rock it up " (its the amp that Lemmy used when we were supporting Motorhead at the Marquee in London) his had blown up the night before! it think that was the only time it was ever dimed

the coolest thing of theses Marshall is that, doesnt matter the gain, they are really transparent, guitar tone is preserved or even enhanced.

What a sound! Superb! I have 1987X reissue head running through the reissue of this cab as a Hendrix ltd edition. My GAS has been cured with those two. Running through same THD Hotplate as you have.

Sounds amazing. It does the Jimi thing pretty well! I usually don't care for the sound of a Strat, but that setup (and you're playing of course) makes a Strat sound joyous. I can tell you probably could've jammed on that rig all day long coming up with riffs.

I once had the opportunity of buying the same model here in Australia some years ago & due to having four original Marshalls & one Hi Watt DR103 I had to let it go...I regret that decision so much! I have a Marshall SLP1959 cream colour 1996 re-issue Plexi head which is nice but not quiet as good as the Plexi. I really enjoy your videos & comments, keep it up!!
