Greetings from the USA. Love your channel and projects. Please keep the episodes coming and don't rush. Remember that no one cares how long it takes to make a masterpiece. In the end it only the result that matters. You are on a journey enjoy the trip and press on regardless.
I find it amazing that you were able to find original parts, the fact somebody had bothered to keep store them is incredible.
I’ve found a remarkable amount. There are still barns full of parts out there… just takes time to hunt them down and to be allowed in!
You've taken on a very demanding project and I wish you all the best with it. I did a Mark 1 Jaguar rebuild many moons ago and the hardest part was finding replacement doors which fitted. It was badly salt damaged in the sills and lower doors, I found a dealership which did a swap doors routine for older Jaguars, but they were all different in terms of a good fit. Fortunately I could take multiple doors home to sort through, take the old ones back for a credit and return the ones I didn't want. It took me about 18 months and I finished it in a "blackbird blue". Looked beautiful.
I used to own an AJS 650 too .. and I see from other comments that your Matchless is attracting some admirers. Lovely old bikes, wish I'd kept mine.
All the best from New Zealand.
The ambition is great for no filler restoration, you've got to be a top notch panel beater to straighten an Aston out & looking at that boot lid, that dent looks like it needs welding & that dent has stretched the metal a lot, so will need shrinking, not so easy on aluminium. As I've done exactly what you are attempting to do I will be an avid watcher. Good luck
Absolutely, most of it I will do myself, but there are certain bits where I’ll call in some help! With the boot, it’s tempting to get a replacement- as they’re quite affordable. But we shall see!
Hi Hudd, already I can see you are a very rare master craftsman in the extent of purity that you are aiming for with the DBS. To have already achieved that apparent level of ability I’m guessing you have had an exceptional mentor or teacher. I have come across many Astons over the last 50 years as an adult but I think this will be the first I hope to see restored without using body filler. Both intriguing and exciting work.
CZcams has mainly been my mentor! Such amazing craftsmen on this site to learn from…but also a lot of trial and error on my part. It will be exiting to give it the restoration it deserves. So many ‘Concourse’ cars have filler under the paint, which is such a shame!
@@HudsonAutoFilms oh so it’s not also your professional job? Just a hobby?
It has been my job in the past. But now it is just a hobby. Music is my main job, but it would be lovely if this CZcams became part of my work flow
Great stuff! so great to see so much enthusiasm in a young man to keep these old cars going!
They were made better back then! Much more fun to drive and look at
Hello, super projet
Bon courage 💪
Thank you!
An episode visit on that parts graveyard you talked about would be interesting.
I’ll see if they’re ok with it..would be great fun
you have great skills
Thank you!
Let’s go Charlie! Your video will be my tutorial for my gold DBS
I hope the videos help!! It’s a Labour of love but so worth it. A Gold DBS is always the dream though…
Hi bruv stumbled across your channel, glad I did, really enjoyed it, thankyou 💯🥳🥳👌👍
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Much more to come!!
It's amazing to see the metal re-take its beautiful original form. Well done!
Thank you! It’s nice so finally see the lines returning to their former glory!
Good luck with this. You've certainly got your work cut out. I read an article when I was a boy in the mid 70's, about every panel being hand beaten from sheet aluminium and it blew my mind. I've been in awe of old Aston's since then.
It is quite remarkable. As a result, every car is slightly different which I think is really cool!
Well done sir your attention to detail is outstanding and like you have said it’s going to be a long time well done for finding original parts 😮l know this project is going to take a long long time but you will be very proud of yourself and your work l will be here for the ride keep going you are doing great 😊
Thank you for the support! A long road ahead…but indeed it will be worth it!
My dream car
Mine too 😌
You are a very brave, patient and persistent man! All the luck ...
Thank you! It’s all good fun, I feel lucky to be able to work on them!
What a great project. A legend of a car. (Underrated compared to the DB5 and DB6) but to my eyes, a true British interpretation of the muscle cars of the era!
I agree! Such a beautiful beast
It's very nice to see that you're working on, what will no doubt, be a genuine and gorgeous looking car. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished result. Good luck and best wishes.
Thank you for the support! Lots more videos coming, it will be a big undertaking but definitely worth it! Best wishes
Just stumbled across these vids. Fantastic. I have a 1978 V8 stored somewhere- have only seen it once but really should collect it. But your video has inspired me to go round the back of my house and start doing something with my project DB2/4 that I imported from the States a couple of years ago and haven’t touched. Nice one
Thank you! A DB2/4 is a dream for me. Amazing project, would love to see it! And if you ever want to sell any Astons, I’m always keen!!
Nice classic car, i look forward to seeing the progress.
Me too! Looking forward to sharing the progress!
As a mere "tinkerer", myself, I am very impressed by your commitment.
I hope your long term intention is to go into the restoration business, passing your skills and enthusiasm on to school-leavers and the like.
Thank you, I love doing it. It’s not my main career but I hope these videos encourage people to take on these jobs!
love the matchless
It’s lovely! A G11
Sit down for a while, I'm getting giddy ;-) Great series, looking forward to the next episode....
I can’t contain myself! Glad you’re enjoying! Lots more to come :)
Hi Hudd, Have you considered using a Jaguar XKV8 engine to keep it British and there is a synergy between Aston and Jag both owned by Ford for a period. I'm sure that or a Range Rover engine would be reasonably cheap and reliable... ish.
I thought about it, but the power from the Chrysler is far superior. And it allows me to retain the original gearbox!
You can replace the carb with aftermarket Holley Sniper EFI for better driveability and cold starts
Awesome videos.. I stumbled across them but subbed straight away..
I’m amazed you’ve only 3.2k subscribers but sure that’ll increase..
Best of luck, keep the updates coming👏🏻👏🏻
What moron would vandalise an Aston?😡😡
Thank you so much for the support! I know…who could do such a thing!!
Great work - liked & subscribed.I love a DBS - my favourite Aston
Mine too! Thank you for the support! Lots more to come
How about repowering with a 6 liter V-12 with 5-speed?
That would be very cool. I wonder how it would fit
Englishman and Aston owner living in New York. If you need any help finding/sourcing parts from over here, let me know. 🙂
Thank you! Will definitely let you know :)
Well done finding parts. I think you are taking the right approach. Will you be having a go at those dents?
I absolutely will! The car will be dent free soon!
Nice video again. Have you decided when you will proceed on the Beta? Also would be good to know your name.
I’m hoping the next Beta video will be in the next 2 weeks. Rebuilding the carb at the moment! Hoping to take it for a little drive in the next episode. My name is Charlie!
Hi Charlie!
Hi!!
great project, but I reckon this channel would be become more successful when explaining and showing the actual jobs and repairs. Not so much story telling without seeing the car getting work done to it.
Indeed, just getting used to it. Nobody was watching until a few days ago!
Do you have any leads on DB6 projects for my friend here in Canada?
I do, a friend of mine has two. Please email me, my email is in the about section on my page. Both of the cars are rather remarkable survivors
Great video!
Thank you!
DB 5
I wish!
What gearbox are you using?
It has the original Chrysler automatic. Which is why it was swapped with a Chrysler engine, bolts right up
New arrival DB6 ?
I wish…
I think another DBS 😜
You have to start to fabricate your own...... start cutting and shaping.
Indeed. Lots of work, but good fun
