- Being an FPV pilot in itself is a life lesson. It seems every time I go fly any of my FPV Quadcopter's, something happens to one of my drones, or every time I try to build a new drone, something goes wrong, forcing me into an endless cycle of spending money on drone parts. That's just part of the FPV Hobby I guess.

After finishing this video, I crashed the skylite and broke an arm and possibly bent a motor shaft. I was able to hammer the motor to spin but only time will tell.
Too funny, I broke my skylite today too. My problem was loose props after a hard crash. She is flying again though. This Skylite is super durable.

I got one of them skylites too. Taking the guards off soon to have a lil crasher.
I learned in the Marines that if you can’t fix something with a hammer then it means it’s really busted and you need a new one. We always fixed shit with hammers!

I've been in this hobby since 2015, parts becoming obsolete is my theme in the hobby. It has happened to me too many times to count. I ended up buying a small cnc to make my own frame because of it.
It’s an absolute pain in the ass mate 👍 outside of TBS and the Source line every other company just stiffs us! Emax started to really make gains but are a classic example of this 💩!

Great video, and some necessary truth for people who don't already know. There is enjoyment to be had, but being prepared for the frustration ahead of time is a good idea. It's lucky for me at least, that I enjoy the process of building as well. But yeah, it gets expensive... 💰

The cost of FPV kept me out of the air almost this whole year. But damn it felt good to fly again a couple months ago! Def frustrating when all the time it takes to save to build something, and it explodes 2 mins into the first flight. I finally broke down and bought a BNF Nazgul just to get back in the air. Thankfully its whoop season and they are much cheaper to run. Lmao!

Just don't crash and life is good 😊😊😊😅 I was flying my favorite drone over a vast woods lost video antenna went out and went down I tracked her a mile through woods with 4 wheeler and found my drone by weak video signal and motor 0:08 sounds from turtle mode went under thick bushes but I found her 😊

Thanks man. I’ve actually been editing and making videos for a long time. I’m a graphic designer by trade, and there is a lot of cross disciplinary skills I’ve picked up.
I am going to try and make videos weekly, but with FPV it can be hard due to weather and my shit always breaking.

You also forgot that impulserc makes a apex micro 3” and 4” frame. Prob the best micro frame around. I have yet to break the 4”.

I'm relatively new to this hobby and I'm just gonna say that I never bought so many things from aliexpress that I didn't think I would need, replacement parts, boxes of wires, connector headers, propellers, new motors, random electronic stuff, a soldering iron and needed other stuff, the list goes on. All I wanted was a fucking drone. Now my house looks like a rundown branch of radioshack
I spent probably around $700-$800 in my first year of FPV (flying very conservatively, didn't exactly have an income to buy parts). I'll be hitting my 3rd year in March, and just in the past 10 months I've probably spent 3 or 4 times over my first year...
Edit to add: I just did the math, I spent wayyy more in both years than I thought...
Lot of d syncs like me! Try adjusting filter sliders? Try d shot 300? Try adjusting esc settings, d mag and motor timing..? Try lowering max motor output to 90%? But 1st thing, try loweing pids accross the board... especially P though😝 nice vid man I enjoyed it and 100% aggreee!
I looked up every possible solution, and tried all the PIDS, DSHOTS, motor direciton, you name it I did it, but I finally came to terms that with the fact that one of the motors was dead, which I think due to my consistent testing, it put strain on the other motor, so it killed that one as well because it started to smoke. then at some point another motors cable broke, so yeah all motors.
I never throw away my old stuff!!! I might need a gyro from it , or....something else......
I recently got my first Quad. It also recently stopped working. And now I see that rabbit hole money pit

$1,600 here lol. Total noob btw, and this video stepped up my game 1,000% I’m doing my first build now after learning to fly acro with the avata and the DJI potato quad and it gave me the courage and motivation to try things I was scared to do. Last night I got the nutz finally to root my goggles and install the wtfos root and all the hacks. For those that don’t know, wtf released ‘Butter’, and it allows you to roll back your goggles firmware even if you are on the latest edition that doesn’t let you. As a total noob with zero self control, I updated my googles to the latest firmware the second they got into my hot little hands and then realized I was fucked. Seeing other regular guys do stuff, like grim reaper, gave me the courage to give it a go! Now I just need to learn how to solder without burning down the house.
Damn… well this was awesome. Sucks about Bqe going out of business though, I had no idea. Maybe I’ll retire my banger before I actually destroy the thing. That’s been the toughest frame I’ve ever flown. Anyways great video man. You’re going to do very well. Subbed.

Hey Grim! I'm in the same boat trying to build a 3" basher and struggling to find a proper frame. I landed on the 3" Ethix cinerat with no ducts. It seems sturdy enough. What are your thoughts about it?

Man I’ve broke the Demibot already no joke, but the only frame I’ve abused and not broken was the Apex Micro 3in, I seriously don’t know why I bought spare arms for it, I put ducts on it, a full hero 11 and a 1200mah 6s on it, had basically the same crash as you did and the only thing I broke was the duct support (the apex itself if you remove the ducts is till just fine lmao
