    Adding on to the commentary about the wheel not budging (ie, lifting out)... I had the same problem, couldn't lift out the wheel. The problem is: the axle rotated a bit and jammed itself into the frame mount that it sat in. To release the axle, I used a crescent wrench to grab the non-threaded section of the protruding axle (pick a side, left or right) and rotated the whole axle slightly. The wheel popped out quite easily after that. PS: My bike is a Rad Expand 5. And I don't claim credit for this solution, I found it on reddit. Worked like a charm.

      The Rad Runner 2 requires you to remove the chain tensioner in order to clear the axle from the frame. Just added fenders.

    Note that the two torque washers on the inside of the axle can unknowingly slide off after removing the wheel. This can happen if you happen to lay the wheel down on its side, for example in a car transporting to a bike shop or in a garage. Lose one of those and your bike cannot be reassembled properly.

  • @lauragersch1912

    This absolutely does NOT work on my RadRunner 2. The chain tensioner is in the way of pulling the tire up - it just blocks it. From doing some basic research, I know this is an issue with the RR2, but there is no hint about this on the Read Bike website. I am so annoyed.

    • @PerforminGorman
      @PerforminGorman Před 22 dny

      I’m currently trying to install the rear aftermarket fender and I also cannot get the rear wheel off, that derailer is in the way. I’ve seen the video for the rad runner installation and the cargo bike installation. They do not address this problem? How in the world are you supposed to change a flat? This is ridiculous.

    • @PerforminGorman
      @PerforminGorman Před 22 dny

      I got a hold of former assembly guy at the rad helpdesk, and he informed me that you have to remove the chain tensioner, no problem at all, and that allows the rear wheel to come off easily. I followed that directive and was able to easily remove my wheel and install my fenders, reinstall the wheel no problems.

  • @PerforminGorman
    @PerforminGorman Před 22 dny

    If you want to remove the rear wheel on the RAD RUNNER 2 (two), in my case, to add fenders. You have to remove the chain tensioner as well. The wheel axle will not clear and come out with it in place. It does not fold out of the way. It was a cinch to do, if you felt comfortable getting to that point in the procedure, following this video.

      The hex nut on the chain tensioner stripped under less pressure than was necessary to secure it and I called your 800 number. They want 35 dollars to send me a whole new chain tensioner instead of sending me the nut. That thing must be made of cheese. I can't even take my wheel off now even if I had the new tensioner to replace it. I was having a blast on my rad bike up until what should have been a simple repair. Now I'm going to have pay the bike shop god knows how much to remove the stripped nut.
      I can't recommend rad bikes anymore. It has cheap components and you people don't even offer the parts to repair them. Rad really let me down. I won't be sending you any money for anything ever. Neither will any of my friends because I'll talk them out of it.
