    It's many years since I've watched anything as professional as this. The camera work and editing are truly excellent, and Phil Kelsall got some incredible sounds from the organ. He showed it to be a very versatile instrument, and the new piano sounds wonderful. Congratulations to all concerned. This is a masterpiece.

    I've been an avid follower of Phil, and the various organs he's played over the years and have always been in awe of the 'industry' under the bonnets of these magnificent organs. Now with a piano added I cannot help but sit back and wonder HTF they have managed to sync this to perform accordingly. It's....well....I simply cannot find the accurate words. Just watch and listen - this is what my ears were slammed on my head for !!!! Jeez, this truly art.

      The piano is linked to the organ and is played by the organist. Not quite sure how it's done but it's clever stuff.

    WOW absolutely an amazing performance i have been a fan of Phil Kelsall for a few years. i was introduced to the majestic sound of the theatre organ by a friend about 20 years ago. I didn't realise there was such a grand instrument only 30 miles or so away from my home. I am now looking forward to when we can attend concerts again as i am definitely going to attend a concert at the Astoria when we can so i hear the compton organ in person. although this performance sounded fantastic on my audio system. i can't wait to hear it live. Phill hS amazing talent. i am amazed by his nifty finger work on that last tune.
    Well done for putting on such an amazing concert. Great camera work and the Audio was spot on.

    Thank you so much for this wonderful concert . As usual Mr Kelsall is at his finest. It is sad that due to the current COVID crises that we are unable to enjoy live these concerts. I always envy you there in the UK it seems you have so many of these wonderful Theatre Pipe organs to hear. I live near Chicago, we used to have some wonderful instruments in this area, but sadly most are gone. Keep preserving them over there maybe one day I will be able to visit once again thanks so much.

    Fantastic playing, but this Compton sounds a bit "mushier" than the Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer. Is it a miking difference? The voices just don't sound as distinctive, IMO.

    • @AstoriaCentre
      @AstoriaCentre  Před 3 lety +1

      Each pipe organ is very different from one another, depending on the number and type of pipes it has. Even similar instruments by different manufacturing companies will sound different to each other. The instrument’s location is also an important factor. This particular instrument has greater presence in the room than most, including the fabulous Wurlitzer in the Tower Ballroom.
