- Bill Noble decides they need another pace lap to warm the cars up a lil' bit. Wayne Moore is stuck way out back, and does something about it. Don Pepperdine made the trip out east to see what he can do.
I'll bet there's a few others in the field who I just can't recall at the moment. I should really research how many of these guys ended up in the RRDC, or if any of them ever won the President's Cup. Some of the best road racing ever done is 'slow cars going fast', and IMO, FV is a pretty good example of that.
Great thing about Formula Vee: Come see the SCCA Runoffs next year (or even the year after..or the year after that), and the race probably won't look much different than this one.
I grew up at road Atlanta.
I started in the late 80’s going there for CanAm cars.
The red mud was infamous and if it rained it was a mess.

At least one got both, Stevan Davis, dnf this race, his first runoffs. He won the national championship (both at RA) in 87 and 92. Still racing FV today.
If you ever find the 1978 FV runoffs it would make me happy...

Noble was the man for many many years...both as a driver...and as a constructor!!!!
Moore obviously had a cheater motor. But, I guess it's not cheating if you don't get caught.
