  • We received heavy rainfall all night that made the Dragon Fruit flowers wet. As an experiment, we dryed the stigma and used day old pollen collect previously to see if the wet flower takes fruit.

    Also, Can you use purple haze pollen on itself or do u have to use another variety?

      You need pollen from another species (stay away from pollen from the other sibling clones) spicyexotics.com/product/purple-haze/

    Hi for how long you store it in the refrigerator? And thank you for sharing

      It was less than 24 hours. We had just collected the night before. We wanted the best pollen to increase our chances.

      We typically have in the freezer. If the pollen is dry and moisture free it should last a long time, like months. I personally only had success for up to 5 days.

      @Brandon Hewitt Some are 13 years old. We have at least 20 varieties that are over 10 years old. None have them have been transplanted and we do not plan do.

    overall the plants are looking really great at this new location!

      Thanks Charles, they are doing much better due to a mild winter. We should have close to a dozen new and exciting varieties released in 2019.

      @@Spicyexotics i left my collection of 10 plants with my house that i sold back in December and am building a new house (both are in the New Orleans area) and i'm trying to figure out how i can fit a few into my new location. it may end up being too tight. suburban lots don't leave much room for these plants, especially since they need protection over winter... i think i need to buy up an empty lot somewhere nearby! :)

      @@CharlesGinzel I have a few undesired varieties growing in coconut husk hanging baskets. I could not get rid of them, but that may work for a small location. Check it out in the video minute 2:34, 4:18, 5:07.

    Is Physical Graffiti a self pollinating variety?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 5 lety

      It is not. If it were this would be one of the best all-around Dragon Fruit to have. All other aspects of the plant are amazing.

      @@Spicyexotics I agree. I lose at least 80% of the blooms yearly. Luckily, the Haleys Comet and Cosmic Charley plants I bought from you have reached maturity and now I just need common bloom times for hand pollination.

    Is it ok to cover the flower after we manually pollinate the stigma? Like covering it with plastic..

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 5 lety

      Yes it is ok, in fact this a step needed when attempting a new clone. This is done so no other pollen will contaminate the stigma.

    How is the rain not root rotting all your plants!

      Good drainage and lots of full sunshine after our rains. Dragons love this weather.
