    Hi Emma 👋 years ago there use to be a show on BBC (yes we get BBC in Africa we've had it since the 80s) called the Perfect Housewife with Anthea Turner. Anyway she gave a tip to make the most of the dishwashing water by doing your dishes in a particular order. The tip is a mnemonic:
    Good Cleaning Makes Perfect Housework - which stands for - Glasses, Cutlery, Mugs, Plates & Plastic and Heavy Duty (pots and pans). Ive hand washed dishes in this order since i was a young girl so its just habit now.
    You really are hilarous decorating others homes 😂 honestly of all the decluttering advice , tips and ideas ive heard over the years, that is a first and so very funny!
    Good for you !
    Sorry about the difficulties you have with your dad 😢 but glad to hear your daugter had a special pizza making day with her dad 🍕 xxx

      I love that mnemonic! I have also gotten very good at stacking dishes in the sink until I'm ready to wash them which gives an appearance of a cleaner kitchen.

    Hi Emma! Sounds like you had a nice Father's Day and your husband liked his gift. My daughter made my husband an apple pie for her gift to him and we all got to enjoy it. It was her first time making a pie and it was delicious! Can we look forward to a pantry declutter video soon? 😉

    Hi Emma, gosh I was worn out seeing you so busy! Looks like your hubby had a lovely Father’s Day 😊
    It’s nice when there’s a gift you know they appreciate and enjoy using,my hubby now just asks for gift cards for Apple,he then buys his ebooks as he wants,I think as you get older there’s less stuff you want. 😊
    I’m sorry your dad doesn’t spend as much time with you and your daughter as he could, I hear similar so many times, that the family of the new partner see more of them than their own family, certainly makes it strained at times I’m sure. When my children were small and all through teenage years etc they didn’t have a relationship with my in laws, it used to hurt, I felt like they just didn’t care. It did mean that once mine were adults they had zero contact with them and in my in laws later years I felt my kids could have been such a help to them but as you pointed out, you can’t force someone to see you. It was the in laws that missed out, my kids are awesome, caring and thoughtful . Your dad is the one missing out, your daughter is awesome and one day he’ll wish he’d spent more time with her. 🥰xx

      Same thing happened with my stepdaughter,only it was her mother,she had 2 kids with a partner,moved to Ohio. Told the then 14 year old,” You have your life,I have mine.” So she’s lost out on 20 years with my daughter,yes she’s mine and has been since me and her dad met when she was 8 years old. She has 2 children,our grandchildren. The biological mother has seen them 3x since they were born,and the kids have no idea who she is. Then she wants to cry about it to me. I told her it was her fault and hers alone.

    HI Emma - You had mentioned on a recent video that it had been a while since I had commented. Well, with what you were talking about today, I decided to let you know that my father passed away on the 3rd of June. It's been a bit crazy around here. Decisions to make. Photos to find. People to read at his service which is this Thursday. We've had nothing but rain, rain, rain and I am praying it won't rain on the day of the service as there will be Military Honors at the burial. You mentioned how rare you see your dad because of his choices with partner and granddaughter. Ours was some of the same until my dad got Covid and everything changed in an instant. No more partner and nowhere to live, so we found assisted living in the same town as we live. Up until his passing away, I was visiting him every Sunday, with rare exceptions. I saw more of him since he was sick than I had seen of him most of my adult life. We all have lives of our own, but I will repeat, see your dad as much as you can and your daughter also, because you could end up visiting him in a nursing home on the weekends, like I did with my dad. I'm thinking about putting a Fathers Day card next to his urn since we missed having that day together.

    My Dad has been gone since March of 2010. It is never easy, even after all these years, especially when we went on our trip to Craig, CO and Vernal, UT. I have such wonderful memories of my Dad and I every Memorial Day weekend, just the 2 of us would go for the weekend. So I wasn't as sad as I was the weekend before. We did take my Father in law out for dinner on Friday night. He was in the hospital with pneumonia. Im not sure how much time we will have with him left on this earth. 😢❤❤
    I have a Bishon Frise mix with Shih Ztu, she is 5 yrs old and her name is Piper. And you know about our Polar Bear will be 10 in July and he is doing ok still and we are starting to wean him down on some of his meds. I hope he will be stable.❤ He is Shih Tzu and Maltese mix. They both are mostly white. Piper has a lil bit of Carmel color on her lil ears and Polar has some grey on him ❤
    Have you tried to talk to your Dad and explain your true feelings of hurt, frustration and how things are unfair? And for him to speak up and take a stand to make things fair? And he isn't married, so he doesn't owe his partner anything further other then, i want to spend time with my daughter and granddaughter???
    I think I would have slapped that person...ah ha haaa. No joking but seriously?! Wow...the nerve of people❤🎉

    An idea for your hallway. I have a bookshelf,it has three shelves,plus the top. We use 2 shelves for shoes,I have a nice basket on 1 shelf that hats,gloves and other seasonal things go in. Now that it’s summer we have sunscreen,bubbles for the grandkids,that kind of stuff. The top has a lamp,and a dish for keys. It’s worked really well. No other thing I tried kept the clutter down. As far as your dad not spending time with you and your daughter,it’s probably your dad’s partner not allowing him to do anything with you. It’s unbelievable but I’ve seen it happen. It’s either jealousy,selfishness,or both.

    That is upsetting about your Dad, I think men in general just don’t think like we do 😰😰 Love your flowery dress, what beautiful colours!! My house is upside down. This weekend I’m going to have to say no to the WORLD and just focus and get on with it!! My friend is coming Saturday to see if this body doubling thing actually works haha. Yes allergic to animals (short haired) hence why I have two hypoallergenic fluffy Bichons haha, pollen, dust, fragrance, parfum, nickel and egg whites. I’ve just recently had to switch to fragrance free everything which has cost a small fortune. Shampoo, conditioner etc but it’s made such a difference to the eczema on my neck!! People don’t realise the added cost, stress and work related to allergies. Takes time and effort and unfortunately money to avoid all your allergens!! Even non bio washing stuff has parfum in it!! Must be a nightmare with food allergies, luckily the only one I’ve found so far is the egg whites, apples sometimes make my mouth swell up too!! The dermatologist told me to cook them instead to break down the sugars. Happy tidying and happy stepping, going to take a leaf out of your book and start saying NO to more 🤣🤣

    As far as having one on one time alone with your dad, maybe after your husband and daughter have a “daddy/daughter date”, you could talk it up with your dad,about how great it was, and then say, “now she wants to go somewhere with JUST you, and then it’s my turn for a “daddy/daughter date”, to go somewhere JUST with you!”

  • @brookhowell8841

    It looks like you were getting quite frustrated with your junk drawer. Our two junk drawers and a tiny coat closet were the first places we decluttered recently. Tonight my mom and I sorted through the baking dishes and containers. No I think this round of decluttering is complete!
    I don't think I've ever seen what's in your upper or lower cupboards closest to the hall. When you've had the top one open it looks like maybe there's no shelves in it?
    You have mentioned the things that you have been saying no to. Recently I saw a bottle of Dr Pepper on your side and later in your pantry. Dr. Pepper is something I have a hard time saying no to. I did have one with my dinner tonight, but none yesterday! I also noticed do you like bottled coffee. When we were in Texas in February I found a new small can coffee that is made in Austin. I bought a case and have been trying to keep it for special occasions, i.e. having to sit in front of the computer all day for a training. I make my own on other days. Does anyone use your espresso maker?

    • @gettingtidy2495
      @gettingtidy2495  Před 2 měsíci +2

      I have four cellotapes in the drawer and it keeps getting blocked.
      I only allow myself a Dr Pepper on a Friday night with chips. Sometimes but rarely one glass on a Saturday. No other time in the week. But the coffee is full of sugar as well.
      The little cupboard is oils and herbs. The top cupboard is just my daughter's snacks in the bottom and in the top cereal, crisp bread etc.
      Did you get rid of a lot of baking dishes?

      All of the work we have done decluttering this time will probably fit a extra large box - pots & pans, baking dishes, plastic containers, mom's clothing & my bags. I had already taken a box in a bag about a month ago. The center where we donate is about an hour away.

    • @gettingtidy2495
      @gettingtidy2495  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I guess we use it as storage. I call it a pantry as it was the original pantry in the house. There were coat hooks here and we put our coats here. I couldn't bare to see them in the hall although people have suggested a dresser in the hall which I think is a good idea.
