The only thing that separates us from a 3rd world country is our (shrinking) middle class, take that away, and what you have is a small minority of ultra rich Vs. everyone else in poverty.
I thought it was an actual commercial in the beginning. Wouldn’t be out of place with all the bottled water advertisement.

Any father would do the same. You just knew what his plan had to be when his daughter's health was made clear to the viewer. Took me a minute to determine what the trojan horse was for, it was used to schedule the maintenance call.
The CEO guy was kinda scary. Even after helping the little people. I thought he was going to set him up.
I thought it was an ambiguous ending, the George character's face clearly showed that he didn't know to believe him or not either, and we don't actually know if the security really did let George go... It may have just been a way to get the guy who is clearly desperate calmly out of the room, it certainly didn't show any further communications with security to release him.
@@quitlife9279 The CEO probably did give the device away, as he is shown to be weary of the board of directors clamouring for more clout in the company he built, leading to him quitting. He has already quit the corporate game, his wife expresses her non-interest in their high-society lifestyle.
Sounds like the ex-CEO of Nestle who says humans don’t have a human right to water 💦
Or as so many people think, a right to life.
Unfortunately having the right to something in this world/society doesn’t make it automatically granted.

We're even willing to go to war to protect it.
Great story and very well done. People need to realize safe water is a matter of life or death, and that it's going to get worse without great efforts by us all.

Agreed, it should start with trying to mitigate the pollution of our water supplies instead of polluting it even more with plastic water bottle waste. Thirty years ago no one would have been able to convince me the bottle water industry is as powerful as it is today.
Did you guys know that water is already being traded on the stock market? All the world's water resources will be owned by huge companies if it stays on this track.
And that plain water is more expensive the sodas... you don't need soda to live.

No matter how brilliant this short was, this what climate change means, clean drinking water for all. This movie comes close to home.

Wow I was really into that. I didn’t want it to stop. Dammit. That was so good. I was into that like a full length movie.
It was full. Length is not the defining characteristic of great film.

I watch a lot of these shorts and very few of them have the look and feel of a full length feature film. But this one really does. Both look and storyline. I could have sat through ninety minutes of this easily. Bravo.

This dystopic future, is the already here for a lot of people.

One of if not the best short films ever. Hopefully in the future, the wealthy will be compassionate and will remember they once had a past. And those born into privilege will have understanding and empathy for the less fortunate.

Holy shit, that was REALLY good! Extremely well done, fantastic production. Perfect actors/characters. This could well be a short series.
And father and daughter actually share a general look-a-like. That was a nice touch.

Amazing story telling. I love the characters and the plot, the sets, the music and Everything. As a film composer I would love to be a part of a project like the Dust SCI-FI shorts. If anything this is a great resume to anyone out there who would want to take this into a 2 hour movie. If love to see more back stories about EVA. Watching this did feel like a full length movie. Its so captivating!

Another great sci-fi movie short. At the end of watching this I felt a little thirsty. An excellent way of showing how water, something we easily take for granted because it's so readily available, can become more than just a valuable commodity. Clean water can be the difference between life and death, good health or poor health.

It's hard to admit that you're in fault even if deep inside you know that by heart. Heart was taken over by greed, ambition. Sad thing is that we're closing in to this very seen. Wish humanity gather around together, not judging, not alienating each other and have a seat on table called science where there is no race, gender, a winner but solution to what's upcoming.
Great concept delivered to a high standard. Felt cinematic, rich and atmospheric. The direction and story drew you in and kept hold until the end. Thought a couple of the performances were below par, but it didn't spoil what was a great piece of work.

Here in the U.S., as well as other well developed parts of the world, many people take abundant, clean, safe, drinkable water for granted. Having lived outside the U.S. for a decade in less developed areas, clean, safe water has sometimes been almost a luxury. I've been poisoned by bad water more times than I can count. Water on our planet as abundant as it seems, is a precious resource, both vital and finite.
I thought that this might have been a film adaption of that old book "EVA"....which was about the young girl that got in a car accident and her mind was transferred into a gorilla.

I thought it was about a depressed teenage boy with father issues and a techno-organic war machine created from two warring gods on Earth as a mother who's hounded by an egotistical German girl.
Excellent! This would be one hell of series based on The two common needs of life, Air & Water, and their shortage and value in day to day life. Dam good story line, and solid too. Would love to see more.
Why didn’t Desmond just help the guy with the source code when he realized how close he was to solving this?? Desmond’s acting was not very good and lacked any emotion, but damn he can do yoga! Lol

Excellent. And the plot timing is pure justice. The board has gone mercenary, he's losing his company and they are losing their monopoly.
And Frey now has plausible deniability when the board accuses him of open-sourcing the design. George might eventually be locked up, but his daughter is saved & the design for EVA is now public domain irrevocably.

His emotions were spot on.. All people want success, whether for themselves or more often, for their families and humanity .. We see that today in the likes of Elon Musk.. : Working for the good of humanity, but losing sight of the real humanity as profits set in.
The confluence of good and ill is within ALL of us. Desmond is just a symptom of who we are if we can't see the future results of all of our actions. OR ignore them for just long enough for them to get ahead of us...

A very telling, and relevant, story. Well made and very slick in the production, believable characters all went together very well indeed. The scariest thing about it is the fact that world population growth, demand and production will continue to strain ALL resources. The world's BIGGEST corporations need to get behind sustainability before it's too late.

There's one even better solution. Hire that robber and let him have a team to build better or alternative EVA units.

Desmond could have just given George a thumb drive with the source code. Save everyone a lot of trouble. Plus Desmond would have been able to keep his Eva Beta.
No. He is still in a company. Under a new boss. He saw on George he can finish the work. He can lose/give his own property but not the company secret. He faced the reality at least but still had a corporate mind.
This was a great movie. Great acting, directing, and well everything. Thank you.
This was such a great film and illustrates how precious our water supplies are. We should really think twice about our bottled water use also, it just leads to a negative feed back loop. Home distillation and reusable bottles will help out immensely, as well as the prevention of polluting and misuse of the water in the first place.
The water bottles are reusable, but many treat them like 1-time use.

Very well written and acted ~ set design, while sparse, was also excellent.
№1 for all of us, is to recycle everything that is recyclable. No more plastic in the garbage. Contact your city leaders and ask about the resources available and recycling capabilities. Almost everything that goes in the garbage should be recycled. Demand more from local government and community.

In Germany they recycle everything to the cookie under wrap.I accidentally threw a cigarette butt in one of the wrong binds, (when visiting there) and three people jumped to remove it before the garbage came.

God I love these short stories. Staying home after my second Covid shot. I feel really cold and aching but it’s not that horrible. It gives me an excuse to watch these. But also I don’t want to move, it hurts

Stay the course. II shot for some weird reason hurts because I think that's the one that packs the punch., the first one was to get your body ready for what comes next . you may feel sore and out of sorts for a few days but trust me it beats the alternative all to hell. I know this for a fact because I've had both shots. All it took to convince me that I needed to do it was having four of my close friends lose their lives to covid 19. Stay strong you will get through this just as I did.

I just filter the water and sometimes I drink it faster than can be filtered. Water is the absolute most important thing to me. Unfortunately as a property manager water also causes damage. But that’s just nature or improper buildings

I wondered why George looked so familiar. Then it hit me: He's the father of the bride in the series, Th Chosen, where Jesus turns water into wine.
Kinda rings in with earth day..🌍that teenager slagging off the W.H.O... the survivor of the disaster in russia...is now using the waves 🌊of the polluted sea to produce power...looks to me that every human being has to make a change...no matter how insignificant to reduce waste and pollution... 😲oh by the way thx Dust..🥰
