- This beautiful clump of succulents are known as African milk barrel cacti, though they are not cacti at all. Instead, they are Euphorbia, and more specifically-Euphorbia polygona. You can see that this one has started to create quite a bit of offsets-so much so that I'll need to pot them up in a bigger pot!
In this video I go over some basic care tips including where this plant grows natively, where I'm growing it in my home, propagation, watering, lighting and more.
You can check out more of these videos here and on my IGTV @homesteadbrooklyn.

This one's sap is among the more caustic of all euphorbia. Definitely be cautious if you have nosy fur babies!
I have mine surrounded by a tomato cage.
Everyday I'm watching your videos my list getting BIGGER for new plants to buy. 😁 Keep up the great work! 👍
i have had this plant outdoors for 2 years in a pot slightly larger than yours and it pups like crazy! definitely time for a new pot!
I love this one! I have one as well & it’s easily one of my favorite cactus I own. The new growth at the top stretches out a lime green color & the contrast of the ashy gray and lime green is beautiful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this incredible amount of information!
Cool cactus, have not seen this in any of my nurseries or other plant places. Thank you again for sharing this plant, looking forward to the next one in the series.
such an interesting cactus, thanks for this video Summer.
I absolutely love mine , it is one of my favourites in my colletion , thank Summer keep up the great work .
I just got one!! It’s been on my wishlist for a while!! 🤩☀️🌵
I bought this plant 3 times already and it died on me each time. It grows in Summer but as it gets colder it rots even if it’s in full light, bone dry and temp inside is 20 degrees Celsius. Got another one a month ago.. seems ok. Fingers crossed!!!!
Ps: I live in Dublin, Ireland and my apt looks like yours, full of plants but mainly cacti and succulents! 🇮🇪
Cool! I have one but had no idea what it was! Thanks for the video!
I just came back from shopping at succulents.us , their nursery site. They had so many uncommon euphorbias, as well as many other South African exotics, etc.. I was like a child in a candy shop. The owner is very helpful and friendly.
Great info. I have this one and it’s doing good. Thank you.
I love it 😍 thanks for sharing!
So gorgeous 😻
Hmm. I thought this was the Euphorbia anoplia. Aka Tanzanian zipper plant because the spines are tiny and the plant is very ruffled. There are so so many similar looking Euphorbias!
If I didn't have pets I'd definitely buy this one!
Hey Summer, do you still have this plant? I would love to see a quick update on what it looks like 4 years later.
nice! 🌵
Hello, Rayne. I am very impressed by you, how you are taking care of plants and your
beautiful collection. Bravo!!!.
May I ask you please. If you have extra plants, do you sell them.
I am looking for water melon peperomia. If you don't, I would like to ask you
for suggestion, where can I get one.
Thanks in advance.
PS. BTW I am from Brooklyn.
Thanks.
Mila.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video, thank you! Have you done one on lithops yet? I might of missed it if you did. I absolutely love them and have had some but unfortunately I just cant keep them alive for the life of me, and I tried real hard not to over water lol.
Ali K. I think the channel is called ‘Sucs for you’ and she’s said she waters her lithops ONCE PER SEASON.... 4-5x a year. Put things into a neat perspective when I heard that.
Don’t feel bad…. It isn’t you!!
Had mine for 3 years and just rotted 😔 cut the offsets off and waiting for them to callus. Any suggestions? Wish me luck !
I've noticed that in most of you videos you say to water each plant about once a week.
Do you still have this plant??
Can I pull out the dead flowers?
How do you propagate this?
How do you handle the cactus without getting the tiny needles stuck in your fingers and hands?
Patricia Sanchez You can use kitchen tongs that have rubber tips and just lightly grip the plant so you don't hurt it.
The one that I'm having trouble with are smallish, round balls all stuck together, so tongs won't work. I already tried different sizes LoL
@@patriciasanchez7745 If it's a small cactus you wrap it in a couple layers of paper towel or cloth so you can grip it without getting the spines stuck in your skin.
She lost me when she called it a cactus...
