When I read in guitar world as a kid that Laihos mom let him stay home from school to practice guitar for 8 hours a day, I begged my mom to let me do the same.
Needless to say she didn’t let me. But I was absolutely enamored by him.

Lol! Hope you're still shredding. Alexi is who got me into playing lead, over 20 years later and I'm so thankful. We were incredibly blessed to have him, if only for a short time. He is deeply missed and so appreciated by many. Still hard to believe he's not with us anymore :(

No. He was a life-long alcholic and cocaine addict.
Sadly he didn't stay sober. He continued with his drinking habits and ultimately that's what caused Alexi and the rest of COB to part ways.
