the thing is: they dont care about some youtube highlights. they have their circa 8 min length budget and have to fit inside.. if it was a high scoring game - too bad guys we are just going to show goals.. a lot of times a game is so exciting that it could be 20 min long video full of great chances, fights, powerplays (good thing would be like a awood does it - what kind of penalty led to the powerplay)

Love what kostin brings to this team. Need that tough guy who can defend our stars who also isn’t a complete offensive or defensive liability on the ice.
was sad to see Giovanni Smith leave the team for that reason. Crazy “they” want to get rid of fighting when players like Kostin are instant fan-favorites

I just LOVE Kostin. A guy who can fight and have some offensive/defensive games. I still remember that shot he hit the post in the Devils game. I wish the team could give him more minutes; as of now, his minutes are so few..
They don't want to overplay him. He will be in the lineup every game this season

100%. I’ve always said our announcers are the best. And not just saying it as a Wings fan. I’ve listened to others and they just aren’t as clear and precise. With our guys I can also close my eyes when listening to it on the radio and picture exactly what is happening.
I work early AF so I catch these highlights when I wake up around 2-3am. Thank you

I was at the game and yes, we dominated the Jackets fans in the stands as much as the Wings did on the ice. Always love going to a home away from home game.

I don’t mind the fight after a clean hit if it’s not a jump. This was clearly an accepted challenge. Fighting is basically gone anyways so might as well accept the few that we do get. The old staged fights off the draw between goons are gone from the game
Respectfully, I disagree almost entirely. A clean hit is a clean hit; it's part of the game. Stopping the play completely because someone doesn't like how hard the clean hit was is pedantic and unsportsmanlike. It's clear to everybody how ridiculous it would be if someone tried to fight someone else after they scored a goal, but if a fight is supposed to happen after a big hit then why not other parts of the game too? It just doesn't make sense. The rest of the team is trying to play the game, abandoning that to be a hero for 45 seconds is unnecessary. At the very least there should be an automatic instigator. Fight to shut someone up, send a message to the opponent's goons, protect your superstars, or even settle a score, but if someone gets hit, take the lick, and when the opportunity comes, dish it back.

Agreed, and Kostin was definitely looking for a fight after that hit. Think he wanted to send a message after the Raymond boarding earlier in the period.
@@icedo1013 I disagree but I get your point too. Sometimes they are after pretty weak stuff. But when a team starts running your stars( clean or not, no one cares, if it's their buddy that get smushed) it HAS ALWAYS been that there is a price to pay and it might be in some blood. If you have the player/tough guy to keep guys in line it's very valuable and buys those guys some more room out there. And if the one delivering those big clean hits likes to fight, well good luck with discouraging the guy😁.
It's always been this way, line up Yzerman too much and too heavy you had to have a visit with Probert and later McCarty. I will say that some of the "big" hits that are fought over now days are pretty weak tho.

I can only imagine how much work goes into these highlights and the fact that you throw them out so quickly and immediately after the game is astonishing!
I think it's a shame that you mainly limit yourself to showing highlights of the Red Wings wins, because there were some impressive Red Wings games last season,
even if we lost them in the end, but if you haven't been able to enjoy the live experience, then I prefer every highlight of yours to the poor official highlights of the NHL!

Good win! The best outlook in a looooong while. A plethora of chances by the Wings. Great movement, the skating was superb, which generates lots of pp's. This team looks mid-season. This should be an exciting season for Wing fans.

So happy Reimer looks solid. Wasn't thrilled with the signing in July, but his preseason and this game has changed my mind. Awesome win against the kind of team we need to be beating this year. LGRW!

Congratulations to Sprong and Reimer for their first games with ice time as a Red Wing, in which they were not part of any goal-scoring. I would add DeBrincat to the list too, but he had an assist.
For Sprong, not being part of any goal is a bad thing, but it is good and notable that this didn't happen until his third game as a Red Wing, because he had goals in each of his first two games. For Reimer, this is his first game with ice time, but for a goalie "no goals" is a good thing.

I assume because the Wings were already on the poweplay. Larkin scoring wouldn't have cancelled out both the existing and delayed penalties.

I'm still not sure why the slashing penalty before Larkin's goal wasn't nullified by the fact that Detroit scored before the whistle. Neither the announcers here nor the Columbus announcers explained this such that I can understand it.
In a situation like that, the previous penalty expires and the player who just took the new penalty has to serve that one. Think of it like a 5-on-3.
Looks like we'll be seeing some of the Blue Jackets defense up here in Cleveland soon.

Guy gets hit clean and instead of answering with a hit of your own you have to fight, pretty shit fight aswell if your going to go after someone for a clean hit at least try to put on a show.
Generally it's fine so long as it's not tough guy on young player. If a guy like Kostin is running over your young players like Sillinger or Fantilli or Johnson, then yeah, he needs to answer the call.

In this case I understand it. Your team is losing 4-0, the crowd is turning on you, and the opposing tough guy lays out a young player with a big hit. Even though it was clean, Gudbransen was trying to change the momentum.
